Chuunin Exams
Sat Jun 02, 2018 8:26 am
Multiple new flyers are posted around the long halls of the Grand Kirigakure Academy, all of them pertaining to the same event that has recently been divulged - The chuunin exams in Konohagakure. The flyers provide a brief amount of detail regarding the event and what they can expect from how Konohagakure has ran their exams in the past. A location and time are given to register interest before those interested will be collected and taken to the event.
[Do a short post of talking to an NPC proctor in this topic to register interest, you don't need anyone to roleplay them for you just be realistic; it'll be closed by the end of the weekend. PM me or Risako if you need details]

Another day, another mission.
Having already engaged in early morning combat with her alarm clock, Asami dragged herself out of bed and through her daily routine. Wash her face, pull on a pair of reasonably clean clothes, and burn breakfast. Life had long become nothing more than these motions. An especially cynical person might say that this was life, but each day Asami beat back her inner cynic and faced the day with a hope that something new might happen, something novel. As she looked out into the curtain of rain, however, she could not help feeling a bit hopeless. She'd probably be stuck completing some mundane mission like making sandcastles below the tideline or shining the Mizukage's shoes.
Standing at her door, she took a breath of the salty air and stepped out into another rainy day in Kirigakure. As she walked through the streets distant streaks of lightning lit up the early morning sky and thunder rumbled shortly after—the storm circle was acting up again. Once or twice every month it would envelop the village in its stormy embrace and today was one of those days. if the experience was any indicator, the light drizzle that matted down the young genin's hair would become a torrential downpour by the afternoon. So much for the sunny side of life, right?
Unfortunately, however, the downpour came much sooner than she expected as buckets of rain started to drop from the sky just as the grand academy came into view. Breaking into a run she soon found herself pushing open the large doors and stepping into the familiar building. The scene that greeted her, though, was far from familiar. A huge mass of people milled about the entrance as if waiting for something to happen. The whole thing felt off, normally there was no one here this early, yet the academy was as full as Asami had ever seen it.
Shuffling her way through the crowd, she made her way to where she normally picked up her mission assignments. However, a sign caught her eye. It wasn't anything special design-wise, but it carried Kirigakure's official seal on it which she had often seen on her completed missions. Reading over the sign her heart skipped a beat—chuunin exams, chuunin exams in Konohagakure.
A few people pushed past the diminutive genin and she allowed them to. After all, she didn't mind she was in a different world. She saw the greens Hikari had described and a world outside the storm barrier. Her choice had already been made for her the moment she read the sign, she was going to the Leaf village.
"You'll have to sign here and here," the jounin indicated the two spots she needed to sign.
She signed with an unsteady hand.
"Very good, Miss Miyamoto," the jounin nodded and added the genin's paperwork to a large file. "You will be contacted if you are selected to attend the exams."
"Thank you," the chuunin-hopeful chirped and went on her way.
She had some work to do before she left. Oh, and she had to tell her parents. WAIT, she had to tell her parents. The excitment drained out of her in an instant, this was going to be an awkward dinner conversation. For the time being, she elected to spend her day training, the longer she could put off having to break the news to her parents the better. It was going to be anything but a good time, they didn't one hundred percent approve of the prospect of their only daughter fighting in an arena.
But hey, at least it wasn't the blood games...

This was it.
Even though he had made up his mind during yesterday's training, he still waited until well after noon on today, the last day of signups. Hayate couldn't tell you why. He had talked it over with his parents (who were worried of course, espcially about going abroad, but also somewhat relieved it wouldn't be in Kiri), his kenjutsu instructor, and had spent a lot of time thinking about it. But here he was, last minute. He hoped the heavy rain that drenched his sweatshirt, making it heavy and forcing it to cling to his body and weigh him down, wasn't a bad sign.
Hayate entered the mission building the flyer had indicated, and looked around. The crowds had thinned out by now, a few latecomers returning missions and just a scattering around a special sign and counter set up for just the chuunin exam signups. The plain nature of the setup almost seemed to trivialize the momentous decision being made. Just another signature, another piece of paperwork. Not a life altering decision that may end in death or be a major milestone in his life.
Hayate's old academy teacher leaned against the nearby wall, arms crossed, while a polite jonin manned the desk only a few feet away. Hayate gathered his courage and approached the desk, trying to seem as casual as possible, and feeling the slight awkwardness of when you focus too much on walking correctly, and therefore can't quite manage it. The large, hard figure of his old instructor, looking every bit the intimidating military figure he used to only a few short weeks ago, spotted Hayate approaching and raised an eyebrow. "You, Hayate? Already?" The man wasn't one to waste words.
Hayate approached the desk, signing where the jonin indicated and was told hed be contacted. He spoke to his instructor, to his left, while doing so. "I've improved. My kenjutsu instructor recommended it." He figured he'd be brief as well. As he finished he stepped to the side and turned to face his previous instructor.
A snort came as a response. "Heh, no skin off my back." A short pause, then "Dont die, kid." And then his gaze shifted back to scanning the crowd, making it clear the conversation was over. Hayate left the building. He didn't know if he'd be chosen, but there it was. He had thrown his hat in the ring, for better or worse.

You don't have enough speed to be learning the tech, unfortunately. If you want to, you can crank out another 195 words, put all your earned stats toward speed, and then start learning it.

What if instead we approve http://naruto-role-play-rpg.forumotion.com/t38717-it-s-just-dinner-right-private-hayate#307831 first.
Sorry, i had a separate planning sheet i've been tracking things on in order of completion, and i forgot that one wasn't approved yet, so i believed i was already at the stats i'd be at after it was approved, since i closed it first (but forgot to ask for approval).

The applications went through numerous people in the higher echelons of the Grand Academy. Only two names stood out from the ink they were written in. Asami Miyamoto & Hayate Seiteki. Giving their consent for the duo to represent the village of Kirigakure in the exams of sunny Konohagakure, the validated applications were then sent through to Naoki Gekou so that he knew who had to be collected for the nice trip abroad.
