Something's Different

The village looked the same…but different. The layout of the village had not changed, he did not expect that it would. The people on the other hand, while not overtly obvious, had some subtle changes to the general ebb and flow of the village. The most noticeable difference to the Watchman was the fact that there was a more active military presence in the village. It was natural for there to be some form of detail in protecting a village of this size; manning the walls, the different entrances to the village, important intersections, etc. Normally those forces would not be as obvious to the common eye, with the exception of the gates and on top of the walls. This time however, there was less subtlety. Tokiatsu had seen more than a couple patrols along major routes in the village on his way to the Hokage’s office.

The normal citizens of the Village Hidden in the Leaves went about their business as normal, yet there was a subtle tension in the air. Likely the more visible military force was part of the reason. It couldn’t be the only reason though. Bossk seemed to read his mind. “Sssomething is amissss.” He said quietly to his friend. Tokiatsu nodded in agreement. “Indeed. Hopefully the Hokage will be able to shed some light on what’s been happening.” The snake did not respond, but the Watchman could tell that his friend was thinking along the same lines as him. ‘Something happened while we were gone.’ Tokiatsu thought to himself. ‘And it’s very likely that’s why we were recalled.’ Theorizing about what it was exactly that happened would occupy the Chuunin’s mind for the rest of the walk to the Hokage’s office.
