Spooktober Mission 2: IT’S ALIVEEEE!

It had to be one of the strangest mission requests that Masashi had seen. There were rumours that a medical nin in the village had created a living cadaver of sorts, sewn together using parts of dead citizens of Hoshigakure. It was not something you came across on an infrequent basis to say the least. Masashi at least was curious as to how the shinobi managed to reanimate the body, but that's something he would need to look into if he was able to find said shinobi. The normal citizenry of Hoshigakure were less than pleased with what's been brought to light, so Masashi and another shinobi were being sent to look into this further. Masashi was told to wait for the other shinobi, who was to be squad leader on this mission near the hospital, and he would be provided with more information when he arrived.

Masashi got geared up and made his way over to the hospital area from his home near the Water Gardens. Concern was evident in the air. For some reason, there was an unusual number of citizens walking around with torches and pitchforks. 'What strange times we live in.' Masashi thought to himself as he made his way to the meeting point. As he was not familiar with who his squad leader was, he would simply try to stand out and make it obvious for whoever else would show up. 'I hope they show up soon.' He thought 'I doubt we'll have much time.'

Another night. Things have been pretty weird in the village since that last mission he had went on. Zombies being in a nearby hotel. And apparently the strange talks of a mad scientist type deal going on in the village. And he honestly thought he was the fucked up one, but here it was someone trying to one up what he had been. He had been looking into the inner village as he saw something...peculiar.

The sighting of fire, and in large quantities moving toward somewhere in the village. Did this have something to do with that strange mission that was put up? Well....no time like the present to go and see what was going on. So the blue haired male took to the rooftops running at a considerable speed until he had ran out of rooftop and dropped into a nearby alley. From there he simply walked normally so he didn't get taken as a suspicious person and get torched..that would be rather unfortunate. Luckily enough he had found someone that had stuck out, whether it was intentional or not far from the crowd and made his way over to them.

With a small smile he waved toward the male and looked onward with his hands behind his back," Tough crowd huh? Did someone make a bad joke or something?," of course he had been joking knowing that the situation was far graver than that. Looking over to the crowd he would sigh and nod," Think we should go do something about that because if not? The village is going to be set on fire...like a big one," and if the young male agreed a plan would be made.

A man with bright blue hair had started making his way over to him. Normally Masashi wouldn't think twice about someone moving in his direction. He was however expecting someone to be meeting him here, so this could be that particular individual. Once the man had noticed Masashi looking at him, he smiled and waved, confirming the Uzumaki's suspicions. "Tough crowd huh? Did someone make a bad joke or something?," The man would say. Masashi snorted. "This town is nothing but a joke sometimes." He said in reply. 'We really will need to do something about this lack of willingness to work together.' He thought to himself as he watched the crowd's mood. The man beside him sighed. "Think we should go do something about that because if not? The village is going to be set on fire...like a big one," Masashi nodded. "You're absolutely right. And I'd rather the village not burn down right now. It's not much, but it's home after all." He paused for a moment. "What I'd really like to do, is find out how this creation even came about. I think we should try to get the medical nin and their...experiment...for lack of a better word, to a secure location. I'm sure finding out how they were able to pull this off in the first place would be a good source of information in terms of improving mortality rates in the village. It would potentially give us more insight into how life works." The potential source of information behind how the process worked was what Masashi was after for the most part. Helping out another shinobi was beneficial as well. Altruism is all well and good, but there has to be something of value to be acquired from a mission for it to truly be worthwhile.

Before they could do anything however, the crowd started to disperse. From what Masashi could see, whatever had been going on in the middle of the sea of people had either been completed, or they’d vanished, for when they could actually see the center point, there was nothing there that was out of the ordinary. ‘What in the…’ Masashi thought to himself as he made his way closer. ‘Dammit, and I was hoping for something that would help me progress my research.’ Masashi grumbled as he searched the area, with nothing to be found. There were no villagers to question either, as they all seemed to have disappeared and Masashi wasn’t able to pick out any that would have been in the crowd.

He turned around and walked back to the other shinobi. “It looks like the mission is a bust.” He said to the blue-haired male. “Quite unfortunate really. It’s strange though that there’s nothing left of whatever it was that was going on here. It makes one wonder if there was even something going on here at all.” The Uzumaki Genin paused for a few moments. “What if this had just been an elaborate distraction from what’s really happening and we’re in the wrong place?”

The man shrugged. “Oh well, I don’t think it really matters at this point. I get the feeling that we’re not going to really get anywhere with this one. Unless you want to stick around.”

Masashi would wait a minute or so for his squad leader to say something that would convince him to stick around. Should nothing be said, he would make his leave with a wave of his hand.
