Take 2... (genin exam)
Fri Jan 18, 2019 8:05 pm
Matteo would come back the next day, a little bit after lunch. He decided, that regardless of what happened in the exam this time, he would save the drinking until afterward. He did, however, bring a 6 pack of root beer along. He quite liked this and decided to drink this instead until after the exams. When his name would get called, Matteo would come back in and put the root beer down, and if Valen Akari is there again, Matteo would say, "Uh Hello?"

Again the village leader would find himself proctoring genin exams this day. He rather enjoyed getting out of the office to do them, leaving a clone behind to do his paperwork allowed for a level of multitasking that simply couldn’t be matched. Performing the examinations himself also gave him a better insight into his own shinobi forces and worked to show them that he took their resolve to join those forces. Which were so very much unliked in their city, seriously. He’d continue down the list, calling the names of hopeful students who wanted nothing more than to obtain their headband and represent their village. Some passed, some failed. It was truly a mixed bag this day although The Dark Prince of Hoshigakure didn’t particularly mind such. He’d call the next name on his list, a young woman by the name of Akina. “Akina Sorotsuchi.” He would call, his voice loud, even, and clear. Easily hearable outside of the door. The gateway to the hallway would open and the hopeful would walk in, looking a bit nervous. She was a pretty thing, raven hair, smooth pale skin, and violet eyes. His gray eyes would meet her violet ones and he’d nod. “Good, afternoon” He would say, glancing at the cloak as he spoke to get the right time of day. Lunch was about to end, although he usually forwent it when it came to these exams. Preferring to get as many done in a single day as possible. “I’ll be proctoring your exam Miss Akina, please perform the Transformation and the Clone techniques. You may also perform any other techniques you might know should you desire.” He would say as he reached into the desk drawer and pulled out a new headband.
The young woman, no younger than 16, looked at the headband after he pulled it out of the desk and her violet eyes flashed in recognition. She wanted to progress, to move on. She needed it for some reason. Very few joined the shinobi core out of want, but out of a form of necessity. Some reason that drove them to become stronger, better than they were before. Whatever her reasons, she saw a step before her now. She would nod her head in understand, speaking softly “Yes sir.” he would hear as she began to perform seals. First the Transformation, and as soon as the final seal was finished a brief smokescreen would engulf her before he saw himself standing before the desk. His eyes would check over the form carefully, looking for any imperfections to make sure that everything was in place and would be able to fool someone if necessary. He would nod his head in acceptance, the Transformation dissipating afterwards as the woman let her chakra flow to the technique end. Next was the clone technique, a few more hand seals and two copies of Akina would phase into reality next to her. The incorporeal forms would stand there, with their hands in the same seal she was holding, the last seal of the technique. When she dropped her arms they would drop theirs as well and he would nod in satisfaction as she dispelled the clones.
Then the raven haired woman would perform the Tiger seal and release a short gout of flame from her lips into the air, heating the immediate vicinity up a bit as the orange flames licked the air in their effective area. The gout of flame would dissipate as she ceased sending the necessary chakra to the technique and he would nod his head in acceptance before holding the headband up for her. “Here you are Miss Akina, congratulations on becoming genin.” He would say with a smile as her eyes lit up in excitement as she took the headband from his grasp and tied it around her arm. “Thank you Hogokage-Sama.” She would say before bowing. “Go on now, you’re dismissed.” He would say to which she would nod and leave the room. Now it was time for the next person on the list. Checking the name he would raise an eyebrow. Matteo Moldu was back it would seem. The 12 year old had come to his genin examination yesterday drunk, barely managed to perform the techniques, the first of which Valen wasn’t willing to count since he transformed into himself. The second of which was him creating a single clone. The boys only talent that he had shown was the ability to keep his puke in the bucket that was meant for students to showcase any weak water jutsu. Or to hold water for them to practice creating other water jutsu with. Valen had failed him and told him to come back sober. The stoic leader supposed he would soon find out if he followed his directives. If not, Valen would be half tempted to incinerate the body of the boy then and there. “Matteo Moldu.” He would call, his voice just a loud and clear and even as it had been for Akina’s name calling. The boy would step into the room, carrying root beer, setting it down he would look toward Valen and greet him. “Good afternoon, I see you’ve decided to at least join us sober today. Now then, perform the Transformation and Clone Jutsus. For the record, you must transform into someone besides yourself and you’ll need to create two perfect clones. You may also showcase any other jutsu you might know.” He would say, pulling another headband out of the drawer for the possibility that Matteo would in fact perform the required tasks. Should the boy begin performing the Jutsu, Valen would wait until after Matteo performed the second jutsu before activating the same Genjutsu he used yesterday to make them appear in an executioners yard, a nearby headsman’s block sitting not far to Matteo’s left, the concrete beneath one part of it long since dyed nearly black from soaked in blood with the trail of it rising up the same side of the block toward the top of it. A nearby axe leaned against the wall, gleaming in the midday sun. It was a test, to see if Matteo could both recognize the illusion and dispel it. Should he do so Valen would take a moment to question, before Matteo would potentially perform any more jutsu. “Did you learn how to do that in the past day or did you already know how to dispel Genjutsu and couldn’t because of your drunken stupor? I’m curious.” He would ask, his eyes never leaving Matteo’s own.

Re: Take 2... (genin exam)

The currently world's strongest academy student decided to go and learn something since he had nothing to do the rest of the day after he failed the genin exams. Yesterday, he took the time to learn the surface walking and genjutsu technique. Hopefully, this time, Matteo would actually pass the exams. At least he did not have the drunk part today. Matteo would hear what Valen Akari tell MAtteo to go and perform the clone and transformation techniques, and also to turn into somebody who is not MAtteo. Also, to make 2 clones. Matteo would decide to start with the clone technique.
But first, Matteo would drink 1 of the rootbeer bottles, in its entirety. Fortunately, it was relatively clear to Valen Akari, hopefully, that this was not beer, albeit packaged in a similar manner. Matteo would just about hold back a burp, and then would get on with the jutsu.
Ram, Snake, Tiger, and then 2 clones would appear. Matteo really was not sure that there was much he could really worry about. It was not like there was something the clones could do, especially since they all look like they were doing exactly the same kind of thing. Matteo would grab another root beer, and so Valen Akari would effectively see 3 Matteos drinking. He would manage to still hold the burp back. It would look a little bit like a dry heave, although it would not be much of a big deal.
Eventually, Matteo would decide to move onto the transformation technique. First, he would turn off the clone technique, so it would only be Matteo in the room, and he would think about who he would want to turn into. He decided that the best thing he could do, was actually to go and turn into the dude who actually taught Matteo how to go and do this technique. He would do the dog, boar, and then ram, and then turn into Yuuma, the guy who taught Matteo how to do this technique. Matteo then thought it would be over. At least he would think so, until the next thing happened.
He did not expect to suddenly see a rather bloody execution yard. He would see an axe leaning against a wall, with an executioners block. He would notice how the concrete floor was stained black, with all the dried, and rather rotten blood that was there. Matteo also realized that the same kind of thing happened yesterday when he managed to see some sort of gallows. Matteo did not remember what happened during that. However, he did know that it seemed all to fast. Surely, Valen Akari could not just change the landscape like that. Fortunately for Matteo, he was not actually just teleported to some kind of yard on death row. He would look around and notice that nobody seems to be there. It was weird, almost like he was supposed to do what? Well, Matteo would then remember that genjutsu were supposed to put people or victims into situations that were definitely not comfortable, and sometimes extremely painful, both the gallows scene, and this seemed to fit the bill.
He then thought about what you were supposed to do in a genjutsu. He would look for his root beer, but would notice it isn't there, at least he did not see it. He would think, and try to remember, also saying, "How do you do this genjutsu release again? OH yeah like that."
He would remember the tiger hand seal, and a few seconds later, Matteo was back in the class room. Well, that was a nice practical application of that. Valen Akari would ask where MAtteo had managed to learn the technique. Matteo would simply reply, "Yeah, I learned it yesterday."
Hopefully, that was it. He was debating what else he might want to show, he knew how to do the wind arrow technique, but actually did not know how to do the wind bow one, so he assumed that would not be at all helpful to show here. He also kind of knew how to do the substitution technique as well. Maybe, he could try doing the surface walking one. HE would think for a moment, and ask, "Would you like to see the substitution technique? or maybe the surface walking one? Up to you." He was not really sure which he would show. It would seem a little bit weird to go walking around on the walls, definitely not a thing one would normally welcome anyway.
If Valen would ask for Matteo to do the surface walking technique, Matteo would take his shoes off, and walk around on the walls careful not to step on anything. If the other technique was asked for, Matteo would quickly do the switch with a nearby chair.

The jutsu performed, albeit with some pauses in between for the chugging of some gassy, carbonated, beverage. Was it even cold? Valen didn’t know, nor did he particularly care if he was being honest. The boy performed the required techniques, showed off his genjutsu release. Even stating that he had learned after the attempt yesterday evening. This showcased at least some desire to prepare oneself for the future. He had learned, even when he had been drunk when the last illusion was cast on him. That proved he wasn’t a complete waste of space. However, something had to be done about his drinking. Contrary to what some might think. Valen didn’t give a rat’s ass what vices they partook in. Drinking was one of the many escapes people had in order to forget their lives for whatever reason they might have had to do so. However doing so in public, as a twelve year old was out of the question. Also, having the boy come to him for a genin exam while intoxicated left much to be considered when it came to how Matteo might act toward missions, training with dangerous jutsu, or even a simple thing such as reporting to him. Such actions reflect poorly, and it was something he needed to nip immediately.
Reaching for the headband, he’d hold it out, the headband clasped tightly in his hand. “Congratulation Matteo, you’re a genin of Hoshigakure.” He would say, prompting the boy to come get his headband. Once the newly appointed genin grasped the sign of his new rank Valen would hold it fast, keeping Matteo there and preventing him from taking the headband as Valen looked carefully into his new shinobi’s eyes. “Listen Matteo, I don’t care what you do in the privacy of your home. However, as a shinobi of my village I have to consider your image on our forces. You need to as well. If I hear of you reporting for a mission intoxicated, or of public intoxication. Or if I ever see you in my office drunk. I will personally send you back here to the Academy, no matter what rank you might be at the time. If you do it again after that, I might do something more permanent. Do I make myself clear Matteo? We have laws about public intoxication. I won’t have one of my shinobi breaking them. Do it in your own home, where you won’t bother anyone. I can’t stop you from drinking, not now that you’re considered an adult by shinobi standards.” He would say, trying to get the point across the the genin that he wouldn’t accept a repeat of what had transpired yesterday, ever again. Should Matteo confirm that he understood Valen’s words, then the Hogokage would release the headband and dismiss him. “You’re good to go, you did well to prepare for the genjutsu. It shows you learn and adapt. A mind like that shouldn’t be wasted on alcohol. Don’t make me have to get involved again Matteo, I’d really dislike having to.” He would say, before teleporting out of the class and to his office.
Of course if Matteo confronted the kage about his words, different things would occur.

Matteo would listen to what Valen Akari said. All he would say after Valen Akari would finish, is, "Ok, I will avoid drinking so much on the job." After that, Matteo would hear Valen Akari say a few nice things and then finish up and then teleport out. Perhaps, Matteo could learn some kind of thing like that too, later. It seemed, that he would have plenty of time to drink after his missions. After Valen would teleport, Matteo would finish the last 4 root beers, and would head to the bar.
