Weakend get away

Minato was getting ready to leave. Gathering all his stuff he thought he would need for the next couple of days, it was almost time to meet up with the others at the village gate. Himself, Rune and a guy named Jason had made plans for the weekend. They would use this time as an opportunity to train and get stronger while being out in the forest by themselves. It would also be a nice way to get to know each other better since with all the missions going on lately there hasn't really been a moment to get to know them.

Because of the location their training was going to be in, Minato figured he should bring along his katana as he wanted to be prepared to defend himself if they were to run into a wild animal of some sorts. He wanted to avoid being packed too heavy so he only brought the essentials with him. 

Now he had left his house and was on his way to meet up with the other two, he was starting to look forward to their little weekend getaway. Beautiful weather, good people, what more could he ask for? Good food, maybe. But he was sure they would be able to find something in the forest that wouldn't taste all too bad. Nothing to worry about for now he figured.

When he finally arrived at the village gates he would see Rune already got there. After meeting each other all that was left for them was to wait until Jason would join their company and they would be ready to head out.

Kinzoku sensei had told him to start getting back into things by meeting up with Higuto. It was a good idea, but Jason hadn’t actually been able to find the Aburame boy. It was like they kept just missing each other. The Senju was sure they’d be able to meet up soon, but in the meantime he had already somehow stumbled upon other plans. In his search for his old teammate, Jason had managed to stumble across two Genin from the Uchiha clan that were preparing to spend the weekend in the surrounding forest as some sort of survival training. Being the helpful young Genin that he was, Jason had offered to come along with them. His experiences over the last year as well as his natural ability with mokuton would surely make him an asset on this little trip. Not to mention it was a good way to get to know his fellow Leaf shinobi.

They had planned it all out and set a time to meet at the village gates so that they could set out for their destination together. Fortunately Jason knew the surrounding woods like the back of his own hand, and had survived alone in them for quite some time so he knew what to expect. Taking only his normal ninja supplies, the young Senju made his way toward the meeting spot only to see he was the last to arrive. Not a great impression to start off with, but he promised himself he would do better over the weekend.

”Minato! Rune!” he shouted, waving to them as he approached with a friendly smile on his face. ”Sorry I’m late. Are we ready to go?”

As a couple of minutes had passed where Minato and Rune were making conversation, they would then be able to see Jason heading their way from the distance. Calling out their names before he would finally arrive, only to apologize for being late. Minato had heared from others that Jason was a nice guy, so he was sure he would make a fine addtion to the group.
"No problem at all Jason, the most important thing is that you made it. It's good to have you."

Now that their little group was complete, it was time for the three of them to grab their bags and head to the forest where they would be staying for the weekend. With how the weather was looking so far, it would make for a great atmosphere, he was sure about it. Minato was happy that he wouldn't need to train out there on his own, the more the merrier he would think. Since it would be just them three it would come down to being able to count on each other.

As they were making their way deep in to the forest, they would be able to feel the change of temperature. It was a lot more cooler out there than it was out in the sun. But it wasn't cold or anything, it was even refreshing to take a deep breath, taking in the environment they would be in for the next couple of days.

Being it the first time either Rune or Minato had been deep in to the forest, Rune thought it was best to leave the lead to Jason as it seemed that he already had some experience with stuff like this. Minato would agree, at least until they got familiar with their surroundings and got used to being out in the open. So for now he would follow Jason's lead.

Well it didn’t take long after Jason arrived for the trio to begin their trip. It was relatively quiet as they crossed the threshold from clear, sun-soaked grass to the shady underbrush of the forest floor. Rune had asked Jason to lead the way, since he was the most experienced. The young Senju simply nodded in response and moved forward to take the lead.

He did his best to try and point out the various hazards they passed on the way to their destination point. A few poisonous plants and berries, some overgrown vines here and there. He even made sure to point out parts of the ground that were unstable due to small animals burrowing underneath. He had to admit it was nice to share some of his knowledge about the forest with his fellow Genin.

It wasn’t long before they finally reached the spot that they had chosen for their little weekend camping trip and Jason turned it back over to the pair. ”So guys, what do you want to do first?”

Paying close attention to everything Jason was explaining about the forest, such as poisonous plants or unstable places they should avoid, Minato was following close behind his fellow Genin. Observating every move, taking in as much information as possbile, the young Uchiha tried to learn as much as he could about his surroundings since he would have no idea when it would come of use to him again.

It wasn’t long before they finally reached the spot that they had chosen for their little weekend camping trip when Jason directed himself to the other two, asking them what they wanted to do first. 
Minato figured there were three things coming to mind that they would have to do first. They would have to set up camp so they could sleep, they would have to go out and find food since they didn’t bring any, and they would have to gather some wood to start a fire in case it gets cold or if they had to keep wild animals away.

Between the three of them Minato thought Jason to be most fit to set up camp due to his experience. That left Minato and Rune responsible to gather food and wood.
“I believe Jason would be best suited to set up our camp while we go out to find wood and food so we can keep ourselves warm and our bellies full.”
