Can't Start a Fire Without a Spark (Misha)
Fri Oct 18, 2019 2:00 pm
Wind blew and a cloud of dust and sand flew through the dunes, making the earth seem like an actual moving lake. With her face in wraps and her trusty goggles in her eyes, the lithe woman stood atop a dune and looked towards the environment surrounding her; underneath the goggles, her black eyes became streaked with red subtly until it was fully read, a tomoe forming to the lower outside of each eye. At this stage, the Uchiha's Sharingan wouldn't be very useful for anything other than a small edge in combat. Just as she activated the eye technique, she felt the strain and the chakra flow to it; she wouldn't even be able to hold it for very long in a battle if she used it.
She slid a hand underneath the hood and quickly scratched an itch in her scalp; bloody sand got everywhere. She thanked the cloak surrounding her frame, keeping the sand off of her body; her skant clothing was meant to keep her movements free, not keep sand out. "Should've consulted a fashion specialist before coming to the desert."
Onward she pressed, trying to find the fabled entrance to the thieves' den, as though the ancient tales of thieving princes and their bands of sneaks were still true. Truth be told, she wasn't one to band together with others; she never played too well with others anyway. However, it was her best bet at regaining her old edge, and her pursuit of miserable revenge.

Amaterasu was perched comfortably upon the top of the gates of Sunagakure, watching for any potential newcomers. Of course, it usually was a tedious job- most were eager Bingo Book hunters hoping to claim what they could off of any remaining missingnin, such as herself. It was fun to test her abilities against them- usually, she came out on top, but Kenshin patched her up quite beautifully should she bite off more than she could chew. It was a symbiotic relationship, but one she found most others wouldn't understand. She knew quite well that they were both using the other to some unknown goal- and the instant it was reached, the other would be discarded like a broken toy. But there was a refreshing honesty in knowing that that she couldn't find in normal society. No, she was much happier out in the wilderness for now.
However, a stranger approached the gates, and she found herself intrigued. Wearing clothes unsuitable for the desert climate? Check. Muscular build? Check. This person was likely a ninja. Good- they were the most fun to play with. She slowly slid down a makeshift railing she had erected towards the wall- hastily constructed so she could take it down at night, before leaning forwards with her hand on her hips.
"Fancy meeting you here, hmm?" the bandages on her eye had finally been removed, exposing hideous lacerations and burn scars that slid all the way down her left side. It was shown off with her black shorts and red tank top, and her lack of shoes made the injuries on her foot even more hideous with the sand. "My name is Azar, and I think we should get to know each other better before I let you in." a pause. "Let's play ten questions. For every question you get right, I'll let you take a step closer until you're inside the gate. For every question you get wrong, I'll burn off a tenth of your body until there's nothing left. Does that sound fair? Good!" She, of course, didn't wait for a reply.
"Question one- are you having fun?"

After what felt like forever, Hayami finally came across some structure; perhaps it had been a porticus at some point, a ruin now. Perched atop it was a small creature, perhaps a girl. She slid her way dorn a railed and met Hayami enthusiastically, giddy with the prospect of tormenting someone. Of course, a bunch of runaway ninjas would be composed of the hardest people out here, and even for a little girl, she spoke gingerly about the possibility of burning the newcomer completely without a hint of hesitation. Hayami perfectly believed she would be willing to do it; after all, someone with as many scarred tissue on her body and not even the slightest attempt at hiding it told Hayami this girl wasn't afraid of playing the part of a monster, uncomfortable to look at, waiting to sear the next victim with the very same pain she once went through.
"Would have to catch me first."
The girl proposed ten questions, and Hayami gave her a bored expression. Playing games wasn't much her style, but then again, she wasn't an excitable kod as the girl in front of her; whatever wasn't scarred seemed quite young. The first question was:
Are you having fun?
Hayami tilted her head, then looked into the distance. Was she having fun? She considered the alternatives before replying, turning her gaze back to the small girl. "Back in Konoha, I would be subjugated to the will and whims of my superiors, my choices laid out for me by others. I could've stayed in any other country, cheating and thieving my way around without much direction. Or, I could come here in search of the power that I need to be free. So, in a way, forging my own path is as much fun as I could ever have. That answer your question?"

"Hm... I suppose it does. Take a step." she leaned backwards, standing back up at her full, albeit short, height of 4'11". As she continued, her tone grew less excitable and more irritable- it became quickly clear, should one be paying attention- that she herself didn't quite have the energy for the front she was putting on. "Noooow... Hm..." she put on a contemplative face. "You seem interesting. What do you find interesting about yourself?" she tilted her head. "Let me go first."
"I think that I'm interesting because I can manipulate fire. Your turn." It was, of course, a thinly veiled attempt at trying to judge the stranger's capabilities. She made absolutely no effort to hide this, and as such she could probably guess it on her own. She hummed to herself. Messing with people was pretty fun, but this turned out to be more enlightening than she suspected. Perhaps if the woman survived this question and the following eight...

Hayami’s lip curled in a smirk, which might’ve been noticeable had she not been wearing wraps over her face and goggles still in her eyes. At the command of the girl, she took a step forward. She decompressed her spine by bending backwards, and straightened herself up once again. Her tone gave away the weariness of guard duty. ”All that time sitting at the post, bored stiff… poor thing.” Hayami didn’t feel too sorry for the child, but couldn’t help a pang of pity for her situation, standing guard to a presumed group of dangerous individuals, if the stories were to be believed. The next question came in, with a surprise: a revelation.
Hayami was annoyed at the mention of fire, but even her couldn’t help but grin widely before shaking her head. The girl just came out and admitted she was able to manipulate fire. ”So her previous thread was just this? There are no explosive tags laid about to blow people to smithereens? It’s just this girl and the fire powers that probably burned her up?” She took a deep breath, avoiding thinking of the fire. "The fire of humiliation." Uchihas were less than Uchiha if their main element wasn't fire, and an Uchiha that was unable of firing a Great Fireball wasn't even thought of as an Uchiha. Nonetheless, she replied to the girl. “I think I’m an interesting person because I don’t give away my hand away before people rise, fold, or call my bluff. Clearly you’re not a ninja or a poker player.” Harsh, but it was true. Giving away your hand, as a threat or otherwise, was a generally bad move, even for one confident in their abilities. “Unless they are one of those ungodly ninjas you hear about in fables… or the living ones that sound like they came straight out of a fable.” She continued though. “I like being mysterious. Keeps people wondering, thinking about you, what you might do next. People are more flexible around the mysterious.” She waited to know what kind of step she would take next. A step forward in the mysterious girl's questionnaire, or a step back to avoid some fireball.

"Hmmm, here's the thing," she began, leaning forward almost in a mocking manner. "I'm the only person here, yet Suna has had no trouble with people hoping to come in and pick off the scraps of their village. Do you wonder why that is?" A pause. "It's because people like yourself think you have a better hand than they do. To be honest, with your current attitude, I doubt you'd be of much use to myself or anyone inside." She stood back up to her full height. "It's kind of a shame, you seemed interesting enough." At her full speed, she made a swift forwards punch towards the stranger. A twenty meter wide screeching beast formed at her fist, launching forwards towards the stranger at a speed of 90, and burning with a power of 65. It was unlikely that she would be able to dodge- she was only nine steps away from the gate, after all, and Amaterasu was directly in front of it. Should this attack hit, her body would become mostly blackened and charred- with the exception of her eyes, of course, because the stranger was wearing goggles.
She hummed to herself. Should she well and truly be dead, she would proceed to collect the corpse and make to return it to Kenshin. Perhaps he could have a use for it?

Hayami chuckled. "Now now, let's not be hasty--", but the girl zoomed in to her, their distance too short. "My hand was terrible and I rose the stakes before she showed her full hand. I fell fornher bluff." Before Hayamincould even activate her sharingan to react or improve her reaction time, a blaze of glory arpse out of the fists of the tiny girl. The heat was so intense as it blazed across the Uchiha's body, it blew away all fabric, and the poor goggles, one digit away from the single digits, didn't survive either to save either eyes or any organic matter that hadn't already been boiled and liquufied inside of the charred bones of the now irrecognizable lass.
A hunk of coal now stood before the girl, and with a gust of wind, it shattered and crumbled, no vestige of her existance left behind.
Good night, sweet princess. May you be born again, hunt again.
