Chuunin Exams: Byakura vs Okuyama
Mon Oct 28, 2019 11:55 pm
- Arena Specs::
The arena is 40 meters in radius. The inner 30 meters of the radius is a flat sandy surface. The outer 10 meters of the radius is a moat 10 meters deep. Each person has an entrance every 120 degrees. The door closes behind them as they enter. The walls surrounding the arena go up 25 meters before it encounters an open sky above. There are stands where people can watch on top of the wall.
Yoi walked into the arena. He was wearing a light blue t-shirt, dark blue pants, and dark blue sandals. The boy was wearing bandages that covered his arms and legs as well. He calmly walked into the arena. His hands were by his side. He jumped across the moat, landing 5 meters past the moat. Looking to his left and right, he saw two other entrances. Yoi looks relaxed, however, he is ready to react in case something happens.

- BYAKURA HOZUKIBasic Information
►Age: 19
►Birthday: Oct. 21st
►Gender: Male
►Height: 5'10
►Weight: 200 lbs
►Appearance:
Byakura appears to be an aloof young male in his late teens, with long, radiant blue hair tied back by a blue ribbon and bright amber eyes. He adorns a black with white striped modified ninja tracksuit suit with yellow fur as its collar which is always zipped up to the collarbone, showing off the start of a dark blue shirt. The clothing that he normally wears when out has an assortment of blue wave insignias and on his right arm sits his headband, embroidered into the jacket itself.
When not on duty he wears a white sleeves jacket which when zipped all the way up covers his mouth and nose. On the back of this jacket is the clan's unique symbol and serves as a reminder of what he is and where he comes from as well as a key source of his otherwise contemporary and "go with the flow nature. For pants he wears a pair of loose fitting blue pants on top of a pair of red bandages and foot wrappings. Over his arms lay a pair of blue/black arm coverings that can be zipped up or down to take them off.
His other attire is simple among the village, though as he changes his clothing rather periodically it is rather nice. While not an official rendition of the young eighteen year old, Byakura's overall description ranks him as a young child when this is indeed false. Standing at 5'7", this young genin wears a long hooded cloak whose bottom and sleeves have become frayed and torn due to the harsh elements of the water that they often are found in yet her true clothing has not. The cloak itself covers most of his body save for the bottom portion of his legs, his hands and when the hood is not on, his head. While some would think that the cloak offers no real insulation, it was made for the specific purpose of moving through the cold or heat with no real influence on the owner. Underneath the cloak however lies his true clothing. Underneath the exquisite cloak, he sports a very well made Gi which was given to his by a passing seller. The Gi itself is very traditional in the sense that the sleeves are well cut and stop at his forearms and the shirt piece itself flows down towards his legs and splits to two sides. The top and bottom portion are of course separated by a single golden belt that matches the indigo Gi's trim. His other outfit consists of a single purple and black cloak that covers all of his body except for the knee portion of his legs and lower. The collar of said cloak covers his mouth unless he folds it. When wearing this he still keeps the indigo Gi on.
►Personality:
Byakura is a character within themselves regarding how they act around people versus around his own kin, and cannot be explained by a normal persons observation. At a glance, he seems like a mild mannered person who simply likes to have fun and do interesting things which is true. The other side of his though is something many would not expect of a young male like him. After his teachings by his now deceased master, Kiseragi knows how to control his anger and when to use it. No longer does he get made over provocation nor idle insults, he remains calm under stress until someone he is very close to or some he cares about becomes hurt in which the switch is no longer off. While he usually refrains from showing his bitchiness or unsatisfactory with others bluntly, he for some reason cannot resist doing so around his brother.
Delving more into his unique personality, he has quite the explosive, rage-like persona seen when he truly gets excited by something rather it be a challenge, or insults over his former master or brother. His devotion to what's left of his family and his friends goes to no bounds as he would sacrifice himself for the group rather than letting them go out. While not a split or multiple personality, the line between being nice and being a complete asshole is thin due to the constant strain of what he went through with his brother. he isn't dependent on the older male for anything, but thinks of him as simply "someone who he can confide in for anything even if they don't care." The one thing about him that simply see about him is that he is rather fluid in his gender. Because of his looks he usually allows people to call him male or female pronouns though with the exception of his brother, its usually always he.
Known for being the quiet and reserved type normally, he also carries the innate and often troublesome traits that was once known for. Around the village Byakura displays a kind and compassionate side for all of his village, going to lengths such as to help many of the merchants sell their good or help the elderly with their shopping if they require it. Being a man of their village for their village
Byakura will do whatever needs to be done to help his village prosper.

The day had finally come for the first batch of fights for the Chuunin exams. It wasn't an understatement that Byakura was nervous about the turnout but he had trained hard for this. As he slowly walked up the stairs he began to move his hands in a singular pattern, his fifth step finishing the pattern. As he stepped into the light of the arena, the sky would begin to darken as rain slowly began to fall form the dark clouds above. His hair would slowly begin to saturate with the wetness of the rain, causing it to slick backward. It was sort of relieving to have the comfort of the rain as he stood at the entrance and made his way to the fighting stage, stopping exactly 30 meters from his opponent. He'd wait for the male to appear from his own entrance and once he was in view he wouldn't make any movements until the male had been ready. It was proper etiquette to wait until the fight had begun before making an attack, but some weren't that...courteous. Once the two were ready, he'd wait for the first move made by the male being able to feel the subtle shifts thanks to the rain, but he wondered would he do a defensive stance or an offensive one for this fight.

“Wish me luck,” Okuyama stated to his reflection. His eyes moved to his grey shirt, before moving to his black pants, and black shoes. Boredom is a truly awful thing when paired with poor nerves. The waiting room inside the arena was a well lit, white area with lockers and a mirror attached to the wall. It looked like a gym locker room, and may well have been used as such before. One last glance was given to the room as he checked his belongings. Both weapon pouches were secured to his hips, allowing him to reach for their contents easily and in a natural motion. He double checked the contents of each, ensuring that they held the items he placed within yesterday as he prepared for battle.
A liar would be found if he said he was training hard for this event. To some degree it was the thought that he couldn’t lose, or that luck had his back and wouldn’t let him fail today. Now that he was there, waiting for the announcement that would usher his opponent and him into the arena, now that he was actually about to participate in competition, stage fright was rearing its ugly head and baring his fangs for his throat. Desperately he wanted water, but none was provided for the contestants. The room was free of any major distractions really, and nothing was around to calm his nerves.
When the announcer boomed over the intercom that the two were to proceed to their destinations, he jumped. Goosebumps rose on his arm as he climbed the stairs, ascending to the arena grounds. Once outside, he was relieved that the rain began to fall, hoping that it would distract the crowd from what he perceived was going to be a pretty lackluster fight on his part. Okuyama laid eyes on Byakura, a male that wasn’t completely strange to him in the village. They’d been on a few missions together and while he found it hard to qualify them as anything more than acquaintances, it was about the closest thing he had to a friend. As the two walked to their respective destinations, both being fifteen meters away from the center of the arena, he nodded his head and waved to his blue haired opponent. In the same motion, he would slick his moistened hair back before returning his hand to a neutral position at his side.
His eyes flicked towards the grey sky before returning to meet Byakura’s. Okuyama would ask his acquaintance the following, “Wonderful weather we’re having, ain’t it?” Regardless of the reply he received, he would continue. “Good luck.” He put his hand to the chest and formed the seal of confrontation, signalling the start of a fight, as was Konoha tradition. It wasn’t his own tradition, but who was he to disrespect the ways of his current home? From there, he hesitated to make the first move. Be it nervousness, fear, or respect for his opponent, he waited for only a second before deciding to make the first move by retrieving a shuriken from the pouch on his left thigh. His vision was centered on Byakura as he performed this motion, and if the male still hadn’t done anything by the time Okuyama’s hands left the pouch then he would throw the shuriken at his opponent’s chest with the same motion that drew the weapon.
[Weapon throw speed is 72. I can factor up the sharpness if you wish, but I don't think either of us have anything to stop anything from cutting so it's unnecessary. I'm presuming neither of us have to do this but all actions are meant to happen at full speed, as far as combat is concerned.
No AP spent.

A small smile arose on his face as he nodded to Okuyama's question about the weather," Rain helps level a persons head to make good decisions. Good luck to you as well Okuyama," the small smile would slowly fade into a more focused, neutral look as he put his own right hand into the seal of confrontation. His eyes remained on Okuyama watching for each individual movement, regardless of the rain that poured above them. As his opponent moved for their pouch to retrieve a shuriken, Byakura would in turn make two hand seals. He would time them in such a way that when the male's hand left the pouch with the shuriken in hand, his second seal would be done and Byakura would be on the move to the right.
As the Shuriken left from Okuyama's hand for the position that Byakura would have just been at his left arm would make a swift sweeping motion, creating five ten centimeter senbon in the process 3 meters to his left. The needles would make their way toward his opponent in a different path, two heading for the male's chest, one towards his right leg, one toward his left and the last aiming to strike the males right shoulder. At the same moment he would continue his movement toward the right, watching for any other movements of his opponent. He'd need to save his strength for later in the fight just in case, but he was hoping that they would both have fun in this fight.

Water Needles -20 AP [Speed: 40 , Power 40+25 from bl = 65]

Okuyama would indeed follow through with his actions and throw the kunai as intended. Even if his opponent moved, it’s not like he was trying to kill his opponent was it? The shuriken would fly to its intended location, which was where his chest was. The attack was meant to make Byakura retaliate with something of his own, which he indeed did. Once he watched the boy swipe his left arm towards him, Okuyama knew that something must be headed his way.
The same moment that Byakura performed the motion that would send the water senbon on their path, Okuyama would begin moving to the left. The senbon would fly past his previous location, missing their target. In his path, he would maintain a fifteen meter distance from the center of the arena, so that he wouldn’t stray too close to the wall or moat. As he started to run, he brought his hands together to form the ram hand sign. His eyes would begin to turn an even darker blue than they were before, as he extended his left hand toward Byakura. His right hand pulled the elastic of the sleeve wide open, and from his sleeve countless crows would begin to pour into the arena to flock around the blue haired male. After twenty of them had escaped his sleeve, Okuyama’s form would be obscured and the squawking would form a deafening cacophony. By the time this action was complete, he would have moved three meters to his own left.
Their feathers would moisten in the rain as they flew towards their target at a speed faster than either men could move. Should any jutsu be used to stop the birds, those affected by the attacks would poof away in a cloud of smoke. Upon reaching their victim the birds would move to gouge eyes, scratch at any exposed skin, and surround him in such a way that he would find himself buried under the swarm. To Byakura, everything he could sense about these birds would be real, including the damage they inflicted. Okuyama would continue along his path, maintaining a fifteen meter distance from the center.
[- 1 Shuriken
- 10 AP for Seigan Level 1 (Jaye and I agreed that I could use level 1 prior to the fight starting.)
- +25 Chakra
- 20 AP for Mirage Crow
- Base power 20 + 10 from scaling = 30
- Jace listed the power as 30, but since the app is C-rank, I'm treating it as if it has 20 base since that's just a mistake made by staff.
- 10 AP from Byakura's AP.
