A beast and a half [Mission] Empty A beast and a half [Mission]

Wed Feb 26, 2020 5:42 pm

Mission Name: A Beast and A Half
Rank: C
Type: Hunt
Character Requirements: Be at least a Chuunin or a Full Genin Team
Mission Location: Kumogakure
Word Count Requirements: 2000
Repeatable? Yes
NPC? No
Reward: 2000 ryo, Glory, Multiple Heads to hang on walls.

Task: There's a beast terrorizing the woods and all life in it. Witnesses says it can expand in size from 1 foot to 24 feet; has multiple heads of different races of animals (most report wolf, bear, goat, elk heads, etc.). It can regenerate, and seems to be invulnerable to Genjutsu. Your job is to kill the creature, plain and simple, the only catch being that you must bring back its head(s) as proof of your deed.

“ I won’t take ‘ye no ferther.” The farmer said.

He was an older man of average height with stooped posture that made him look even older. He paused, pushing up the brim of his straw hat with a single finger. Giving the group of Genin a toothless hoary mouthed smile. His face was craggy and sun soaked from days toiling in the fields.

“That monster ‘yer after, took a coupla girls from the village last week. Best to be careful. Drove some of my best friends away--they lived in this forest before that Beast got to ‘em.”

A hollow howl echoed out of the treeline before them.

“Well, I’ll be off, youngins!”

On que with the howl, the farmer began hastily walking back in the direction they had come from. Following the snaking path back down the mountainside to the village. Inaba stifled a smile and turned to face the task at hand. Dark heavy tree trunks stood before them. The forest canopy shading a twisted path before them in darkness. Inaba tilted his head at the foreboding scene, cigarette smoke rising from his mouth. At their feet lay gnarled foot prints. Deep claw indentations perfectly cast in the soggy earth. Inaba knelt, running his finger over one of the gruesome paw prints. The prints brought many things to mind, but none of the images he saw in his mind's eye were pleasant. Inaba shook his head in frustration.

“Whatever this thing is--it’s quite large and is going to be troublesome to deal with.” Inaba turned his eyes to the sky and the fading light of the red sun.

“We need to formulate a plan before it gets too dark. Thoughts?” Inaba turned to his companions.

A beast and a half [Mission] Empty Re: A beast and a half [Mission]

Ikari was in his usual spot, stuck in the quarry. He had been trying to introduce more training with his chakra, but he just could not quite get the inspiration to train that like he did his own body. Lifting the rocks in the quarry made him feel the progression that he would have on a day to day basis. When he was able to lift a bigger rock than the day before, he knew that he was progressing, he knew that he was getting stronger. But when he would attempt to train with his chakra, it would be the same result each attempt, so he was constantly getting frustrated with the slow paced training that was his chakra training.

But today he had heard stories about a beast that was beginning to terrorize the countryside, which only told Ikari one thing. He was about to hit the charred forests and wrestle himself a beast. He was given a slip by a higher up in the village, he instructed him to meet the other participant or participants if there were going to be more, and head out into the forests together. While Ikari hated the idea of having to join others on a mission in the forests wrestling wildlife, he understood that he was not in the position to tell the mission giver that he would go alone.

He finished up his work out and ran out of the quarry. His excitement mixed in with his chakra, causing his chakra to begin to swirl around his body with a bright yellow hue. His hair and eyes natural crimson color would become more and more intense in its natural color, showing his excitement. He ran to the village gates to meet the others that were going to be going on the mission with him.

When he arrived at the gates, he saw the same guy that he had seen in the training grounds the day before. "Shit, what was his name? Fuck it. It'll come to me sooner or later." He walked up to the guy at the gates and he nodded his head. The guy told Ikari that they were going to need to create a plan before it got too dark. Ikari smiled and spoke matter of factly, "Easy enough, trap the beast with a trip fall trap. Wrestle the bastard to keep it down, slit it's throat with a knife. Let the beast bleed out so I can use some of the blood as bait for my own hunting trips, then bring the whole body back to the Kage." Ikari would begin walking toward the gate, unless he was stopped.

A beast and a half [Mission] Empty Re: A beast and a half [Mission]

Ikari didn't feel like waiting on the other guy, he seemed to want to hang out at the village gates and Ikari needed to get paid. He ran out of the village gates and he headed out in to the forests. He was not entirely sure where this beast was, but he had been working on a few different techniques that allowed him to be able to help him with his search. He knelt down along the trail he was on and surveyed the area. As he leered at the ground beneath him, he was searching for any type of trail that would help him find the beast the he was looking for. "This beast is allegedly fucking huge so he can't be that hard to find. Only damn problem is that it can also be small as literal shit. So it may prove to be allusive." Ikari would think to himself, just as he found a track of foot prints that changed size right after it left the main game trail.

Ikari would follow the game trail, being very curious to see what he would be able to find at the end of it. He would continue to follow the path of broken twigs and footprints within the mud that had followed the rain they had the night before. He continued to look for the creature until he heard a sickening sound of squelching and whimpering, the sound of an animal being ripped apart limb from limb and relieved of all of his inner organs and large chunks of its flesh. Ikari performed the hand seals to create two wood clones from the trees that surrounded him. With the clones beginning to fan out so they would be coming at the beast in all different directions. The beast caught wind of their little ploy and immediately went into a frenzy. The beast grabbed his meal and chucked it directly at one of Ikari's clones. He was fast enough to dodge the incoming carcass by rolling out of the way, watching the deer's body wrap around the tree that he was once in front of.

The second clone and Ikari both went into action. Ikari leaped for the back of the giant animal, but it shrunk down to the size of a mouse and began scurrying away. The three Ikari's went back on the search as it was trying to find another sign of it's path of escape. He performed the hand seals for the new technique that he had been practicing as of late. It was a sensory technique that he had read about in the library a few weeks ago. The name of the technique was an interesting one. "Mind's eye of the Kagura" was the name of the technique that he had been reading about.

The technique allowed the user to open what was called their "mind's eye" to allow themselves extreme levels of mental clarity, allowing them to sense all forms of chakra within the range of the jutsu. This allows the user to both sense jutsu and shinobi, even with their chakra suppressed or otherwise hidden, with pinpoint accuracy. This sensory is so precise that the user is both able to detect when somebody is consciously lying by the fluctuations of their chakra, something that also allows the user to detect when they or others are caught in Genjutsu. When he read the description of the technique in the old textbook, he knew that that was going to be the perfect technique to aid him in battle against those who like to hide within the shadows and do whatever they could to sneak up on their opponents.

Ikari activated the technique and he was immediately able to see all the living creatures that surrounded him, including a little beast that was scurrying away in the same direction the once massive beast began. Ikari and his two clones began closing in on the animal. The small creature looked to be scared, but Ikari knew better than to trust that this monster would actually feel fear, rather than just to try and play on his feelings. He told his clones telepathically to keep strong and ready themselves for anything to happen. He created a few branches to come out of his side and both of his arms to replace his hands.

He looked over a bush, knowing that he was only 4 meters away from the beast. The beast whimpered more when he saw the three Ikaris coming at him. But he paid no mind, he did not worry about the animal, he  just simply impaled the beast with his branch and held it up high above his head, towing it behind him with his branch that was still coming out of his side. He began the short trek back to the village gates, being happy with what he had accomplished, while also feeling slightly sad that he killed the beast when it was small. Not because he felt bad about the animal, but because he wanted to drain out some blood from the animal to use on his own hunting trips, but this little appetizer wouldn't give him nearly enough.

He brought the animal back to the home of the Kage. He walked up to the front door of the Kage and he was stopped by some of the higher ups. He showed them the mission notice and he was told to leave the animal on the floor in front of them. The two higher ups that stood in front of him asked him just what they were supposed to do with some rodent. Ikari then explained to them that this was the animal that was terrorizing the the area around the village. To their laughter he was told that it was not the true animal. That the actual animal was supposed to be as big as a house. He then had his wood clone drop the large deer carcass down in front of their feet. "Trust me, he was much larger than he is now. You can keep the deer." Ikari then turned around and dispelled both of his wood clones. He was ready to take a few laps around the village and spend an hour or so in the quarry, ready to increase his strength. He waved good bye to both of the higher ups as he walked away from the Kage's estate and walked into the greater part of the village. This was just another mission in Ikari's book.
