Task: Statues don't clean them selves kiddies, and that's why you get to do it. If it isn't spotless, the mission can be considered a failure. (Honestly if you fail at this, maybe you should take a break on the whole ninja thing.)
Despite the action packed evening he had the prior night he figured things would slow down sooner rather than later. That was the case as he was given his next mission which was to clean up the Mizukage Monument. The city was pretty ransacked from the storm but the top shinobi felt it necessary to ensure the monument, a beacon to the people, was kept sparkling clean. Though most of the people in the room had dodged the prospect, Furo volunteered, and found himself on his way through the city to ensure that it was squeaky clean. Easy money he guessed.
His eyes darted around the village as he carried a bucket and some rags in order to clean it up. Hopefully it would not take him too long to get it pristine. But as he approached his destination he made a few stops to see the damages. People were out and about cleaning up the debris and patching up various holes and damages that had been done. In some instances the doors had been completely ripped off the hinges of houses. In other cases their entire roof had been ripped off. It was quite an interesting duality to the chaos of the evening before. The sun was shining and everything seemed relatively normal.
He stopped at the foot of the monument and placed the bucket on the ground and gave it a once over. It was quite the spectacle, and in his opinion, a little egotistical. He guessed it made sense in its own way. It was a way to let the people know that the Mizukage was looking out for them always. Though he may not be seen he was there and if the people need not question whether or not he had their best interest at heart.
Of course, Furo had no clue whether the Mizukage had the people’s best interest at heart; he had never met the man one on one. He did know patterns, and historically, the village did not have the greatest track record. They were, after all, a war nation and it showed with their occupation of Konoha. He was unsure of how he felt about it. He figured that they would eventually rebel and it would come to war. They could not expect to hold down one of the greatest nations. Not for long, at least. They would eventually try and reclaim their independence, and when they did, the battle would be bloody.
He tried to push those thoughts out of his head because the prospect of war was not something that particularly excited him. He would be at the forefront of the war and he would, by all accounts, not survive something like that. He was an average shinobi and he could not compete with some of the other ninja out there. This did not upset him, not really, it was just the truth of the matter. He was weaker than the average shinobi and he had even started his career later than normal.
His thoughts turned into about an hour as he finished up the cleaning of the statue. Taking a step back he glanced it over and shook his head, proud of himself, for some strange reason. There was something relaxing about busy work, especially when he had spent most of it thinking about how they could go to war any day now. Knowing that he was in no physical danger comforted him and so when he was done he made his way back to the village headquarters and reported what he had done. There was probably another mission he could do before the day ended.
