The voice of the Valkyries (P)

Taichi stood within the land of Snow. He lept off of the carriage and he scanned the area while being partially merged with the ground beneath him. His short trip to the land of Haven was short lived, and he was not very impressed with it, but he would be sure to visit there once again. While still partially merged with the Earth, he created a wood clone and had it continue to keep lookout so with both of their eyes scanning the entire area, they would surely not be ambushed. He would sense anyone or anything within 1000 meters. His clone would be leaping through the snow covered trees, keeping his enhanced eyes trained on their surroundings, waiting for anyone to attempt an ambush.

Taichi would fully submerge himself within the Earth so he would be able to stay undetectable as he trekked through the mountain range. What was it that drew him to this place? What was within these mountains that called to him? Taichi continued to push forward through the Earth so he would be able to find out just what it was.

“Come up a sec.” Taichi’s clone told Taichi using their telepathic bond. Taichi rose out of the ground and he looked at what it was that the clone had found interesting. Taichi looked upon the carved stone and immediately began hearing a woman’s voice call out. The sound was beautiful and melodic, it seemed as though she was calling for Taichi. Throwing out his usual cautiousness, he rose out of the ground completely and began running towards the voice.

“What the hell are you doing!?” Taichi’s clone yelled out to him. Taichi did not respond, he heard the voice beginning to get louder, he was getting closer. Taichi continued to sprint headlong into a cave that stood out in the distance with no signs of slowing, let alone stopping. Taichi’s clone knew how Taichi got when he set himself to something, and he didn’t see this ending too well.

The clone leaped out of the trees and as he soared through the air towards Taichi, he performed the hand seals for Majestic Fire Destruction. The cloud of fire would land against the snow packed ground in front of Taichi, but would not actually harm him. Taichi would stop for only a moment before he would trace the source of the fire to the clone. He was just about to dispel the clone when he would suddenly fall prey to the Suffocation by Water genjutsu put upon him by his own clone.

The water from the snow that came from the heat of the fire connected both Taichi and his clone. The water slithered up his body, paralyzing him completely. It covered and consumed his head, leaving him unable to breathe. “What the hell are you thinking?!” Taichi’s clone said to Taichi telepathically. Taichi tried to speak, but was unable, that was the clone’s plan all along. “Don’t you hear that voice? It calls to me with such beauty and grace, I must find the source. I must see the woman that can produce such a tone from her very lips.” Taichi stammered through the sentence as he struggled to hold his breath.

Taichi’s clone didn’t know what to do with him. He didn’t want to kill him obviously, but he didn’t know if he was going to be able to convince him of just how bad the idea was to run headlong into the cavern with no consideration that it could be a trap. It could be a sound genjutsu that was only affecting Taichi and not the clone. “We will go see the woman, Taichi. But you need to cool your head and stay within the ground. Make sure you are out of sight and allow me to go into the cave, if I get hurt it isn’t an issue. But then you can make sure the place is safe.” Taichi struggled to hold his breath any longer, and he knew that if he kept like this, he would surely die. He would usually welcome this, but he needed to see the source of that voice that continued to ring through the water that was consuming his entire head. He nodded his head and the clone dispelled the water.

Taichi thanked the clone and submerged into the ground to see if there was any signatures within the cave that stood before them. Taichi’s clone reassured Taichi that he would see the woman within the cave. The clone was confused, he still didn’t understand what it was that Taichi was on about, he heard no voice, but he did feel a certain amount of energy radiating out of the cave that he was meandering closer to. “What is that?” Taichi’s clone asked himself as he saw a light beginning to emanate through the cave. Suddenly, the clone heard a loud screech and the clone was destroyed, falling apart and piling on the ground in the form of splinters.

Taichi watched his clone fall apart without being touched, he heard no screech, just the lovely melodic tones coming from deeper within the cave. Taichi continued to rush towards the source of the melody from within the Earth. He got closer and closer until he could no longer move forward from within the Earth, this is when the singing turned to words. “Rise young warrior, abandon the shadows from within the Earth and meet me. Face to face.” Taichi sprung out of the ground and launched into the air.

When he landed onto the ground, he had his Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan activated as he scanned the area to see if there was a trap coming that even his Mayfly could not see.

“Calm young warrior. You are not to be ambushed while I am here with you.”

Taichi turned and was nearly blinded by the light that was intensifying with every passing second. He deactivated his sharingan and blocked his eyes with his arm. After a moment the light began to dim, enough for Taichi to be able to see what it was that was before him. He lowered his arm to gaze upon the source of the voice that had enchanted and bewitched him since he arrived within this Snow covered country.

“What? Where-Where are you!?” Taichi yelled. There was no woman at all, only a stone tablet that stood before him. The tablet that was before him had a completely different language engraved within it’s rigid edges. A language that he had never seen before, yet he could understand every single rune that was carved into the ancient stone. “Hildr?” Taichi read the name that was written at the top of the stone.

Below the engraving was an illustration of a magnificent woman that stood upon a battlefield, looking over the dead. She had her hand hovering over one of the corpses, but the corpse seemed to be picking himself off of the ground. “A medical ninja?” Taichi said to the ether that was still filled with life. “You are to find a woman with raven black hair and snow white skin. You will not find her within the land of Snow as you stand within now, but within a land that is quite opposite of this.” Taichi heard the woman’s voice and he desperately looked around him in hopes of catching a glimpse of the woman that spoke to him. “What am I supposed to do with the woman when I find her?” Taichi spoke with a slight tone of misery as he could not see the woman in which he sought.

“This woman is a woman of great power and prowess, you are to prove yourself to me by challenging this woman. She is one of many reincarnates of my sisters, the Valkyries. If you are successful in taking something valuable from her without killing her, then you will have passed your first challenge. If you shall fail, then I will know that you were not worthy of the knowledge that resides within this cave. The knowledge of the gods.”

Taichi then felt the energy that radiated through the room disappear. He sprinted towards the wall, as if to try and stop the energy from leaving. He began feeling the presence of the woman speaking to him disappear from him. After a moment of pure shock and despair, he knew that he needed to speak with the woman again. He thought for a long time, constantly pacing back and forth within the cave as he tried to discern what land would be the opposite of this that would house a woman with raven black hair that matched the description that was given to him by the illustration on the stone. “Who are you?” Taichi would constantly ask the stone, sometimes in a calm and quiet tone, until his rage would fill him to the brim and cause him to scream out and attempt to destroy the stone. Every time he would try and harm the stone, he would be knocked into the stone wall that surrounded the stone.

Taichi then had a moment of clarity, he thought of the woman that he obtained the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan with, Hinata. “The raven hair is right, but the look is not quite there. Who cares, I have to try!” Taichi yelled to himself before submerging into the ground to travel back to Kazangakure. He needed to see her, he needed to find this raven haired woman, he needed to hear the melodic voice of the angelic spirit once again. This was going to be his first challenge, and he was ready to complete it.
