In the House of Koi (P/ NK, Kozai)

What Genivieve was telling him was becoming increasingly alarming. What, so the Kage had simply allowed the Church to insert an agent into his force? It had most certainly been one of the shinobi leaders preceding Yasaki, yet Kozai genuinely couldn't imagine one of them having made a mistake like this. So, it had been intentional, then? It was certainly a risk to use an enemy asset as a *counterespionage* outlet, but a less cautious man than Kozai would probably do it. There was also the possibility, of course, that she was quite simply telling the complete truth, though that was the most disturbing answer of all.

That the Church was making subtle overtures to the shinobi forces in the village by simply supplying them with elite personnel was a move that Kozai didn't yet understand, and what he didn't understand made his mood worsen. Gakidou snapped the notebook closed, her face still expressionless. He was finished here, probably. The woman had given him valuable insight into the next move, but she didn't know enough. He'd have to do some more digging of his own, but at least he knew where to look now.

"That will be all, though I'm sure what you've told me will be a great help to him." The path body stood up, preparing to leave. "He takes a great interest in keeping an *objective* record of the Church's activities and behaviors." She walked toward the door. "Thank you for your cooperation. Your children will return home soon." The two paths that had been watching them disengaged, and began the trip back to the Archives.

The guest in her home snapped her book shut and Geni thought perhaps she meant to leave- this was only punctuated by her actually standing up. She stood up as well as the woman voiced, "That will be all, though I'm sure what you've told me will be a great help to him.” the woman said and Geni followed her as she moved through the room to the hallway before the front door, “He takes a great interest in keeping an objective record of the Church's activities and behaviors." Geni completely understood and put on a polite smile as she unlocked and opened the door for the woman. "Thank you for your cooperation. Your children will return home soon." The woman would say on her way out and Geni kept her polite smile on, however-


So how did the woman know she had children? Still, she didn’t question it and as soon as the woman would leave, she would grab her purse, then head over to the restaurant where she had placed her order; she spent the night trying to push from her mind the fact that the woman spoke of her children but it added a sour taste to her otherwise delicious meal.

Not all was well with events, despite how well the interview had gone. Kozai was certainly better equipped now than he was before, but this had made no changes to his current approach. Caution was required here, caution and more. It was frustrating, really. When he was dealing with single individuals in Iwa, this kind of maneuvering was simple. When he wasn't maneuvering in the jungles of Ame, life had been peaceful for a while. But Kozai's happiness had never been the goal in mind. Only success mattered now, and almost any cost was worth it.
