The Frogs Photo Op

Having quickly completed the feline location mission, Satoru wanted to pick up another mission or two to further reinforce the stability of his coffers. As he stood before the mission board, he took note of a job that had a four hour shift associated with it. The job involved assisting a professional photographer with his dailies. Satoru nodded, pulling the mission brief off the wall prior to submitting for assignment.

He got more details from the regular operator who made a remark about the quantity of missions that Satoru was undertaking. He simply blanked her, not allowing the remark to register on a psychological level. Before long he found himself by the edge of the 100 meter wall that surrounded Sunagakure.

Once again, he was pushed to the very outer edge of the village in his efforts to earn some Ryo. He approached a small shack that appeared quite sturdy in its construction and free of dust. He knocked on the door, listening out for a response when the sound of a middle aged man pierced through the thin sheet metal wall. “Come on in.” said the photographer.

Satoru entered, briefly bowing his head. “You must be todays assistant. Thank, ya.” Said the old timer as he extended a hand out to Satoru. Satoru reciprocated by shaking the photographers hand. “Ri’ I’ll need you to hold this, this an’… this” he said aloud as he passed Satoru a handheld light, a reflective sheet and a jet black sheet.

The black sheet absorbed light while the reflective sheet redirected the light from the handheld item more naturally towards the canvas. It made sense. Todays subject, was a small frog, concealed in what appeared to be a portable yet natural habitat. Upon closer examination, Satoru noticed that the environment that the frog was in was all artificial yet looked captivating.

Satoru spent the majority of the four hours, redirecting the natural light from outside of the establishment towards the canvas while coupling it with the handheld light source to allow for crystal clear clarity. It was a meaningless task but someone had to do it. The photographer darted from place to place, shot to shot, taking countless photos of this one from as he manoeuvred through the landscape. Satoru was baffled as to how this man could find taking so many images of the same subject so interesting but this was his way of making ends meet so he wasn’t about to complain about the work.

As the four hours elapsed, the photographer had taken over a thousand different images of the frog. Satorus left and right arm felt numb while his shoulder felt stiff. It made sense why the photographer hired people to assist him as Satoru did nothing but hold two panels to redirect the light. Satoru thanked the photographer, who placed his seal on the mission contract. Satoru quickly made his way back to the mission HQ as the sun began to set over the village. He cashed his mission in and made his way back to the Inn.
