Duties Elsewhere (IO)(NK)

Tsubaki had a blast in the large village surrounded by sand. Despite her original dispositions about the village, it seemed that the current administration had largely reinvented the major village. The people seemed to be recovering quite well from the original destructed nature of the village. They were able to increase their economy, start new businesses, get better security and grow from their stations.

They even allow missing ninja in the village as a sort of safe haven or way to restart as shinobi. Perhaps that will lead to some drama later down the line as it did with Hoshi in the situation in the previous Kage summit. Only time will tell. 

Despite all the fun Tsubaki had, she still had duties elsewhere. She was a jonin of Hoshi so she had to return to the village with the new Hogokage, Ayato. Then she could return to the services of her own village. She had missions that she needed to do, a garden to tend to, and some genin that still needs guidance. 

Tsubaki waited at the gates of Suna for the Hogokage, planning to take him back to the village. She wasn't aware of any other plans the Hogokage planned. She knew that he was off tending to some diplomatic things still in Suna, but she was still in charge of bringing him back to Hoshi in one piece.

Ayato did look like a lord today, dressed in a gray doublet emblazoned with the Hyuuga sigil on the breast pocket in a black thread. He wore the finest trousers a shinobi had the right to wear and dark gray boots that reached underneath his shin. 

The Byakugan heir draped the Kage cloak across his shoulder and clasped it at the throat with the Hoshi’s badge of office. A seven-pointed star.

Back at Konoha, Lord Hibari Hyuuga used to say that a leader needed to spend time with his shinobi if he hoped to keep them. “Know the men and women who follow you.” Ayato had heard him say to Kaede, his older brother once, “And let them know you back. Nobody wants to die for a stranger.”

His father always had an extra seat at his own table, and every day a different shinobi would be asked to join him. “One time it would be a blacksmith and his father would listen to him go on about armor and nails and the proper way to temper the metal. Another day an Inuzuka with an endless dog talk, or a Hyuuga uncle, or a cousin, or sometimes even the nanny of the two boys with her bed-time stories about moonmen.

Little Aya had loved nothing better than to sit at the table and listen to them talk. He enjoyed listening to the shinobi on the benches too, Chuunin tough as iron, arrogant Jonin, and bold young Genin, sometimes even grizzled sellswords.

Only that was a thousand years ago, and Ayato served a different village, as its Kage. 

They took the long main road of Sunagakure back to the mountainside that the village gates were. Jak Dosser, the Hyuuga of humble origins from the Fang Country to his right. The white cloak of the Nova corps dancing on the desert wing.

Another man, close to his thirties, that looked like a younger, shorter version of Yasaki Uchiha fell in with them. Nagasaki moved as silent as a cat. He was dressed in a black trench coat, on top of a fine gray shirt and trousers made of wool.

Tsubaki was at the village gates when they arrived. The Senju was brusque and impatient and had the certain air of arrogance that accompanied most newly made Jonin. However, her heart appeared to be in the right place. The Byakugan heir was positive this successful escort mission would be enough to please any hunger for valor. But more importantly, know her Kage a bit better.

Every member of this fellowship of Hoshi heroes had played their own part in securing peace. The day before they had entered the hostile territory of Suna, but today it was that of newfound friends.

“Ready and eager to see me safely back home, I see. Well and good. Duty demands that I stay for a bit longer, however.” Ayato announced when everyone was within earshot. 

With snowy white eyes, the Kage of Hoshi turned to look at his Jounin. “Tsubaki, you've done well as my escort but there is no threat for me here anymore. Your place is in Hoshigakure, on the side of our Genin. They need you to train them for the upcoming Chuunin Exams, hosted in our village.” 

The Hogokage would extend an arm out, his hands were rough and calloused from the Gentle Fist training but full of life.

“Take my hand and you will be teleported safely back to my office.” 

There was concern in his voice but also a sense of relief. Ayato despised teleporting himself. Provided Tsubaki came in physical contact with him, that technique would be activated, and a mark seal half a world away would react to it. The Senju Jounin of Hoshigakure would manifest back to the Unseen University in a yellow flash.

Ayato arrived in fashion, dressing like a true Lord of Hoshi. Tsubaki had to give him style points. Dossa was with him when Ayato arrived at the gates. The Senju smiled at both of them. Over this past trip to Suna for the summit, Tsubaki had gotten to know both of them quite well - especially Ayato. Through the summit, he did somewhat questionable things regarding Kirigakure in her opinion. She also saw his dedication to Hoshi and also how he views the relationships between the rest of the villages. Tsubaki respected him as Kage now, more than ever. 

"Come on, I thought you Hyuuga were supposed to be fast." She teased the leader and head of the Hyuuga. He mentioned that she seemed "eager' to go back to Hoshi. Tsubaki laughed as if he was joking, "Are you kidding? After that major announcement and the Chunin exams being held at home, I'm more pumped than ever." The Senju had taken a large liking to teach the genin of the village, finding it to be a great way of humbling herself. But she also loved seeing them grow, like watching a seedling turn into a large tree bearing much fruit. And what's better to see their growth than seeing them in competition with other peers. She couldn't wait to get back to Hoshi. 

However, it seemed it would just be her going back to Hoshi. Tsubaki was confused, as it was her mission to guard the Kage, and leaving seemed the opposite of what she needed to do. But Ayato would explain that she was more needed back in Hoshi to start prepping the genin for the Chunin exams. Tsubaki smiled, "Alright. This is going to be great," she said optimistically, "Is there any certain genin you want me to work with?" She used to be the leader of team Summer but they all had grown from needing a team leader as they were doing their own things.

After getting notice of any kind of plan the Kage had or didn't have, she would take the hand of the Kage and be teleported back the same way they had gotten to Suna originally.
