Homeward Bound [Village Exit]

It was late when Gonk woke up, a good bit past noon. After getting injured in the chunin exams, Gonk had been sleeping even more than before, which is saying something. He padded his way into the living room to find everyone gone.
“Huh, wonder where they got off to,” Gonk thought as he went to the kitchen and poured himself a bowl of cereal. As he went over to the refrigerator to grab the milk, Gonk noticed something under the door of their room. Confused, Gonk walked over to find it was a letter, with his name on it.
“What could this be?” Gonk wondered as he slid his finger into the envelope and tore it.
“Dear Gonk,” it read, “this is urgent. You must return to the mist immediately. I can’t disclose the information in this letter, but I will explain as soon as you get back. This involves the future of the Hoshigaki clan.
-Hijiki Hoshigaki”
Gonk read the letter once, then read it again, the weight of the text slowly bearing down on him.
“Hijiki is grandfather, the clan head,” Gonk thought as he dashed into his room and started gathering his things. “He wouldn’t write to me like this unless it was really important. Hell, I’ve barely talked to the guy.” Gonk suddenly stopped dead in his tracks. “But what about what Wakame told me. It could be a trick.” Gonk shook these thoughts out of his head. “No, it has to be real, even if he has made mistakes I’m sure the clan head has been trying to do what’s best for the clan. And even if it is a trick, so be it, I can take them.”
With that last bit of resolve, Gonk finished packing and walked back into the living room, ready to leave. As he was about to open the door, it occurred to Gonk that he should probably let Murata and the others know that he was leaving.
“Sorry guys,” Gonk scribbled down on a piece of paper. “Something urgent came up and I had to head back to Kirigakure. I’ll write to you as soon as I find out exactly what happened.
See you,
Gonk”
With that out of the way, he left the building and started for the gates. As he passed through the town square, he suddenly remembered his encounter with Arame.
“Right I told her I would see her before I left,” Gonk thought as he suddenly turned into a side street. “I need to stop by real quick.” Arame was once again in the back when Gonk burst in, lightly panting.
“Arame, it’s me,” Gonk called as he walked over to the back.
The sound of hammering stopped, and Arame emerged from the back room.
“Hey Gonk, what brings you here?” She asked, looking a bit perplexed.
“I got a letter from my grandfather, the clan head, he said I needed to go back to Kirigakure right away. Something to do with the future of the Hoshigaki clan."
Arame’s eyebrows furrowed but she said nothing.
“Anyways I told you I would come see you again before I left. I know this is such short notice so I figured you couldn’t leave yet, but I wanted to say goodbye.”
“Well you’re right in saying I can’t leave yet,” Arame said as she walked over to him. “But I’m glad you came over. As soon as you know anything make sure to write to me,” she said as she embraced Gonk. “Now get going, I don’t want to keep you."
Gonk nodded and ran out the door, now headed straight for the gates. When he arrived he pulled out his identification papers and got them ready in case he was questioned as to who he was and why he was leaving. Assuming he was able to get through without any problems, Gonk would start jogging towards the nearest port, where he could take a boat back to Kirigakure.

"Ahh, Gonk you lost me a ton of money, you know?" The Nova would say as the Hoshigaki was about 5m away. "If you are trying to leave go ahead, but if you want some training if you come back seek me out. Also, tell the Mizukage I have found nothing on what he has asked about. There was no one in earshot to hear the words as they were only spoken as Gonk moved closer. So, that the words could be spoken at a normal volume. "Also, tell him of Fu and Kita I will do what I can but my pull is limited."

While Gonk was passing through the gates, he heard a voice directed at him. He turned around to find the Nova agent who had arrested Kita Fu five meters away from him.
“Money? What’s he talking about?” Gonk wondered for a moment, before he realized what he was referring to. “Oh right, there were bets on the chunin exams.”
“Sorry about that,” Gonk said with a shrug. “For what it’s worth, I think it hurt me just as bad as it did your pocket.”
Gonk listened to the man’s words, surprised to hear the invitation for training.
“I wonder why he would offer that to me” Gonk pondered as he continued to listen. “Our villages aren’t enemies or anything, but I don’t know, it doesn’t seem quite right to be trained by someone from another village.”
Gonk’s full attention immediately returned to Akabayashi when he heard the Mizukage’s name mentioned. Gonk nodded to signal he understood what he was asked to do. While he was curious about what the Mizukage had asked of the man, he understood it wasn’t his place to inquire about it. However, what probably surprised Gonk the most, was the Nova agent’s seeming care for Kita and Fu’s well being.
“But wait a minute, does this mean lord Mizukage wasn’t informed about the situation?” This made Gonk inwardly scowl. “You would think the Hogokage would at least have the courtesy to inform the leaders of the villages the arrested people hailed from about what happened.”
“Thank’s, I appreciate you looking out for them,” Gonk told the Nova agent. “And I’ll be sure the Mizukage is informed about both matters.”
Gonk continued past the man, but after a few more paces, turned and said, “I’m not sure if I’ll ever return to this village or not, but if I do, I’ll be sure to seek you out. See you!”
With those parting words, Gonk would continue out the gates and towards the docks where he could take a ship back to his home village of Kirigakure.
