A Literal Scam

The Sneaky Cat (forumotion.com)
The lumbering form of Shin could be seen casually walking the grounds of the Tanaka Estate within Sunagakure, a relaxed smirk on his face as he ‘searched’ for any traces of his prey. What was he after? An unruly cat, apparently… heh, 1,000 ryo for finding some old bags pampered cat… heh, talk about an easy job, especially for someone with the same inbuilt gifts as he. But then, if that was the case, why was he not using his Byakugan? The answer was simple really, he already knew exactly where the cat was. See, when he had first arrived in this area he had done some recon of all the nice houses, and he came to notice just how much this particular noblewoman loved her cat. A plan was hatched, and he simply took the cat when the opportunity had presented itself, and now he was going to be paid to simply retrieve the beast.
It was, quite possibly, the easiest money he had ever made… well, aside from that one idiot smuggler that threw money at him, but really, that’s what happens when one scams people. His Byakugan was enough to tell him that he was being watched while within the grounds, and that was fine… he had not only been expecting that, he had actually prepared specifically for it. The night before he had taken some of the cat's hair, and a little blood, and stuck a small bloodied clump of fur to the top of the rather gaudy fence that surrounded the large grounds. It was child's play to ‘notice’ this and quickly make his way out of the grounds and into one of the alleys behind it, and retrieve the cat from the box that he had hidden within. In a mere ten minutes he had returned the cat to its owner, and watched in slight pity as the rotund woman nearly crushed the poor creature. He was paid his due, and bid farewell with thanks from the woman, and a small smirk was his only response as he pocketed the money, turned and left.
Honestly, some people truly had more money than sense, but whatever, who was he to complain about some dumb old woman paying him 1000 ryo for what amounted to 5 minutes of work. Just for his own amusement he returned to the estate in the dead of night, and took the cat once more, but this time he chose to take the beautiful creature with him. It was a purebred Serval, and it was a deep pitch black in colour with remarkable golden eyes. Truthfully, The Assassin could see exactly why the woman treasured the cat so much, although personally none of this mattered to him. No, all that mattered to him was the potential for him to try his hand at animal training, and what better fit for someone as sly and underhanded as him than a cat… well, perhaps a snake, but he already had some plans for the future that involved snakes
