Murata sprawls on an old, stained couch, watching as an island of garbage comes into sordid view. Herself and her mission partner(s) have been tasked with unloading the trash barge which they now ride to the village's landfill. The smell on the barge itself is bearable, but the island itself is another story, as becomes clearer and clearer as they approach.
Seagulls squabble over the choice refuse, their cries and bickering competing with the ambient smell for attention in the air. The garbage has begun to overtake the geography of the island, a towering mound of junk momentarily casting a shadow over the barge as it settles along the side. Murata stands and steps carefully from her perch atop the disposed-of couch, glancing over the landscape. A graveyard of rusted-out and busted boats and ferries slumps against the shore near where the barge docks, gently bobbing in the waves. With a short exhale of effort Murata picks up the couch and carries it on one shoulder, grinning to her gaunt compatriot.
"Back to work, then," she says, their break from collecting trash at its end. Thankfully, it's cool and cloudy today - this would be much worse with the sun bearing down on them.

Kain stood on the dock. A bandana wrapped around his head to help with the smell thinking about why he accepted this mission. Sure it was looked down on to turn down missions but it wasn’t like you couldn’t do it. The entire boat ride over the smell just got worse and worse, and everyone said that it was a good day for this as the sun was mostly hidden and the smell was very mild. However, to Kain’s enhanced sense of smell, it was the worse thing he had ever been through by far at this point, and that was saying something since his father literally set him on fire to prove that he would regenerate.
Kain was getting to a breaking point but he would not let garbage get the better of him. He never let anyone or anything do that and he wasn’t about to start now. He still had things to do, but he had made the decision to never do this mission again. With his partner and leader of the mission said to get back to work break time was over. Kain didn’t know if he was to be happy that they would be getting out of here that much sooner or sad that he had to go deeper into the smell. Either way, he simply gave a nod to Murata who picked up an entire couch on her shoulder and started walking.
Kain not wanting to be outdone made a few handseals and several blood tendrils flowed out of his back. He used the tendrils to stab into several pieces of furniture picking them up and several other pieces of trash. Once he had them all up in the air and simply followed Murata through the trail over the trash pile. Coming up to a massive hole in the ground with a great fire burning at the bottom. Kain didn’t know how it worked but according to the guys that worked here, the fire would burn the garbage, and somehow there was a filter system that kept all the bad stuff from burning from getting out into the environment.
“That’s still kind of crazy how they make that work you know” Kain would tell Murata as they dropped their stuff into the hole.

Murata looks back to her mission partner as they near the smoldering heart of the island, eyes widening some in surprise at his bloody display.
"Does that hurt?" she asks - the blood surely must have to burst from his skin, or does it migrate through...? Ninjutsu is such a strange art, taken in so many interesting directions. Sometimes she considers it a shame that her natural talents do not lie there.
Her attention turns to the center, the strange fire below them that consumes the island's trash. Though wisps of smoke escape it and fill the air with an odd, bitter scent, it is in such small quantities that it is clear that the bulk of it is being somehow captured. Allegedly this was designed to create some new sort of fuel, which turned out to be impractical, but the garbage disposal aspect works well enough for the village to keep it running. Murata hauls the couch down into the fire, and she watches it tumble down into the glowing depths with mild interest.

“No it does not hurt the blood simply flows through the pours in my skin,” Kain said answering Murata. He watched as she tossed the couch down he stepped up and dropped the rest of his stuff down into the massive hole. Watching it as the fire at the bottom flared up as it was hit by the trash. Kain took a few steps back his enhanced senses pulling him away from what was assaulting his nose even though the bandana he had wrapped around. While his abilities were normally helpful today they were a curse and he hated it.
Kain turned to go back and get more stuff to haul up here. “So tell me what are do you train clearly by looking at you I can tell you’re a close-range fighter, probably taijutsu or weaponry focused.” Kain would ask trying to make some kind of conversation to hopefully get him to not think about the smell.

"Largely weapons, yes," Murata says pleasantly, not all too bothered by the trash in comparison to her sharp-nose friend. "They are what I am most comfortable with."
She tosses another heaping armful of trash down into the fire. "I have been exploring stealth-based techniques as well, and more ways to cooperate with my summons. I apologize, it would make this faster if I invited one, but she'd be as miserable as you are with that nose of hers..."
Even without that help, the pair are making fairly quick work of the barge. They're about two thirds of the way through when Murata hums in thought, pausing, picking up a strange scroll. It looks too nice to have been thrown in the trash. She fiddles with it, but finds herself unable to open the mechanism locking the front. She tosses it to Kain. "What do you make of this?"

Kain listened to Murata explain that she focused mostly on large weapons. He found that interesting as you didn’t see a lot of people using large weapons, but you always heard stories of legendary shinobi using them. Which made Kain wonder if the weapons were just an over-exaggeration or if being able to wield the weapon is what made them legendary. Either way, it was a topic for another day and he quickly dropped the line of thought. He also found it cool that she had been exploring stealth-based techniques as well. It was one of the things that he also liked to work on. Although he didn’t have a summon or had really put any thought into getting one either.
“That's cool, I’ve always liked the appeal of large weapons but I’m simply not built for that kind of work,” he said lifting his arm to show how small it was. While it was extremely toned it was not very big. “I also like to look into stealth-based techniques as well. It’s a lot easier to win if they don’t know where you’re coming from” he added with a bit more of a smile. Being careful not to show his fangs as he had done well so far not to let anyone in the village that didn’t have to know, know what he was.
The duo kept working for a bit longer and was getting a good way through the massive pile of trash. When Kain noticed that Murata had stopped chunking trash down the shoot. He walked over to see what she had found and noticed a scroll in her hands. It looking like she was trying to open it when she tossed it over to him asking him what he made of it. Kain caught the scroll and turned it over in his hands looking for any signs of use or marking. Not finding anything he turned to the lock on it.
Holding the scroll in his left hand Kain popped his right index fingers claw out and stuck it into the lock. His claw was able to slice straight down through the lock and opened the scroll. “Not sure what it was but the lock’s gone now” he would tell Murata before tossing it back to her. Figuring that she was the one that found it so she should be the one to see what’s in it.
