We Have to Build A Wall [Mission, Kenshin]

Enrai had been out and about, as he liked to go out and get a breath of fresh air as you will, but it was definitely a different vibe here when talking about fresh air. The desert surrounding the village was something that was definitely fresh air, although it was air from a blow dryer or oven. Enrai did not mind the heat though, he had been backpacking around the area from village to village, although all of the villages were small and not even large enough to be called a minor village, like Rain village. The tiny villages would come to a central location, a small outpost if you would, and post up potential missions for the missing ninja or wanderers to do, and it was a great opportunity for wanderers and missing ninjas to get some extra cash without too much of a fuss. Right now, Enrai was walking towards the small outpost, ready to buy some more water and some food, people always had wonderfully refreshing snack carts set up at the outpost, before looking through the missions available at the location. As he was walking, he remembered that he had asked Shin to join him if he was not busy, and so he was hoping that his buddy would go and meet up with him. He might even be there before Enrai himself, the guy was pretty speedy.
Enrai yawned because of the heat, and he wondered how he still sweat when he did not really have any muscles, apparently the sweat glands on his skin was fine and intact from the ritual that made him a spaghetti human, but it was not quite a good thing for Enrai at the moment. He was losing valuable water, and he had to keep drinking, and soon he would be out of water, but he had made it to the entrance to the outpost. He nodded to one of the people there before heading towards the main building. This main building was a general shop that had a cooler in it, so it sold great quality beverages that were perfect for out here, in the middle of nowhere. As he sat down with a newly acquired carbonated drink that tasted like grapefruit, he started sipping it. He made sure to buy a big jug of water as well, and he had rehydrated himself greatly so he was no longer in any danger. Enrai stretched before heading towards the sign post that had all the missions on it for wanderers like him.
As he walked over to the mission board, he looked through the various tasks, behind a couple of people that had gotten there before him, and he watched as the couple of people nodded to each other before grabbing one of the missions off of the board. It was Enrai’s turn, and he skimmed through the missions before grabbing one that seemed pretty good. The mission was to head to a smaller village to the east of here and help them build a defensive wall around their village. It seemed like brigands around the area were constantly raiding the workers for some supplies before running away, and a few of the villagers were even gravely injured when they tried to fight back against the bandits. Enrai liked helping people, and this could easily be something right up his alley, as it could also let Shin cut loose a little towards the people that wanted to raid people without the realization of how low on the totem pole they were. Keita grabbed that mission and then headed back to one of the benches to sit and wait for Shin.

The rather intimidating form of Shin could be seen wandering through the isles of the rather small main building/shopping area of the outpost that Enrai had requested he meet him at. As per usual The Assassin had his Byakugan active, so it wasn’t as though he was lost and looking around for anything in particular, he simply had no clue what he wanted to get… if anything really. He was at that strange point just in between hunger and feeling full, so he was looking for something that he could snack on, but there were a lot of options to choose from and nothing that he was truly fond of. Giving a small hum he would end up grabbing both a packet of jerky and a packet of smoked almonds. He didn’t buy himself a drink of any type, having more than enough water stored away inside his Storage Displacement to cover both himself and Enrai for weeks if he needed to. After getting what he wanted he would exit the main building and make his way into the shade, where he would sit and snack on the almonds periodically as he waited for Enrai to arrive.
It only took another ten or twenty minutes before he saw his friend and partner arrive, although he would simply wait in his nice secluded spot for awhile longer when he saw the man immediately make his way towards the main building and get himself a rather large jug of water and a can of some carbonated drink. He certainly looked to be in need of a drink, and honestly, Shin was content to simply sit in his nice shady spot while Enrai made his way towards the mission board of this outpost, watching as he chose one and made to sit in a nice shady spot of his own. Seeing that as his cue, The Assassin would exit his spot, still a few buildings away from Enrai, and make his way down the main road of the outpost and directly towards the stitched and scarred man. A small smirk could be seen splitting his scarred lips, and Enrai would likely take note of the half emptied packet of almonds in his left hand as he made his way closer, his featureless eyes betraying nothing even as he took another couple of almonds from the packet and tossed them into his mouth. He would savour the flavour and texture of the smoked nuts as he chewed them, swallowing the last remnants as he reached Enrai.
“Yo, how are ya Enrai?” The Hyuuga would ask with an easy smile, taking a seat of his own on the bench that his partner was sat upon.
“So, what’s our mission for the day? Anything interesting?” He would then ask, facing straight ahead physically but using his Byakugan to scan everything around him, including Enrai.

Enrai was waiting there, relaxing, his head tilted up and watching the clouds in the sky float peacefully through the air. He was still pretty aware of his surroundings, so when he heard foot steps near him, he would stop and turn towards them, seeing his buddy Shin there. Shin would give him a nice greeting, asking how he was and what they were doing today, and Enrai would give him a big smile in return, and start explaining the mission that was going to be done today, which was going to be outside of the gates of the village. “Heya Shin, good to see ya. Also, the mission we’re on today comes from a tiny village around twenty miles south of here. They need help fending off a bunch of criminals that keep raiding them while they build a wall around the village.” Enrai would explain quickly while approaching Shin, offering him a high five.
Enrai was in a pretty good mood, although that would soon be soured with them having to go over to a minor village and start killing people, but things had to be done. Enrai did not mind that he was the one that was going to need to kill them, but it was just that these people were stupid to think that they would be able to keep going around raiding villages, no matter how small, without much consequence. Even though Enrai had ideas of being a raider, that did not mean that any random schmuck could to it to. You had to have some sort of finesse and power to back up your shenanigans, especially if those actions were going to upset the wrong kind of people.
Enrai wondered how much of the tiny village’s money was spent on the wall materials and the hiring of the shinobi to go and do the dirty work for them. Although they did not hire village shinobi for this, they still wanted people with knowledge of being a ninja, so most likely they were asking for other criminals in the area to go and fight for them for money. Enrai was all for it however, and after the high five, would start walking out of the village, showing the guard his visitor’s pass and talking to him. “Hey, we’re only going to be gone for around six hours, do we keep these or do we have to be issued new ones?” Enrai would ask with a smile towards one of the guards, while the guards explained it to him, before sending the two on their way.
“I wonder what this village looks like, and why they’re having such trouble. They have enough money to hire people like us and build a big wall around the village, but not enough to spend on training their own guards it seems. Maybe the constant raids wears them down and gets rid of the trained guards or something, I dunno. I’ve never been good with management or finance or anything.” Enrai would comment as they were jogging along a road towards their destination.

Shin’s grin would grow a little wider when Enrai noticed him and smiled brightly, the joy of the stitched and scarred man somewhat contagious. The Hyuuga would listen and nod as he explained what their mission would be, and he would chuckle lightly as he met man's hand with his right, the light clap of their high-five echoing through the area. The mission sounded like it could be interesting, although he would admit the idea of simply wiping out the unfortunate bandits that chose to attack while they did it would be an annoyance. Shin didn’t enjoy killing in general, nor did he really dislike it… what he enjoyed was a good fight, and he knew full well that this wouldn’t provide him with that. Ah well, he’d do whatever was necessary to complete the job, and if that meant wiping a group of idiots from existence then so be it.
“Sounds like it could be interesting, I just hope the bandits don’t attack while we’re finishing up this wall… bandits will be no challenge to either of us and I’m not the type to get my jollies by butchering weaklings and fools.” He would admit with a sardonic smirk splitting his scarred lips.
As the duo made their way out of the outpost they would stop at the main guard post, and Enrai would enquire on whether they needed to hand in their current Visitation Permits if they were going to be returning. The guard in the outpost, a rather young looking woman with ice blue hair would simply answer in a semi-bland tone.
“Yeah, keep hold of those ones, we just need to log your exit and when you return we’ll log that as well. If you don’t return within a week, and then try to return later down the line with that same permit… well, then you’ll be running into some trouble and I might get to have some fun.” She would explain, a somewhat amused smirk on her face near the end at her implied threat
“Don’t threaten me with a good time, or I might be tempted to stay out there for a week just to see if you follow through.” Shin would say as he met her smirk with a somewhat feral grin of his own, and the blue haired woman would release a loud chuckle at the gall of the young man. Lord, what was it about the women of this village and being so attractive to The Assassin. First, the lady Kazekage herself, then that redhead he’d run into in the market, and now this blue haired bombshell.
“Heh, you’re a funny one and I do admire that backbone of yours, but I don’t think you’d be able to handle me just yet.” She would reply in turn, her own grin having turned rather feral at the prospect of a fight. Shin, ever brazen, would only grin wider at the challenge, his featureless eyes meeting her own blue eyes without hesitation
“Hmmm now what did I just say about threatening me with a good time… tell ya what, once this jobs over I’ll be back and we can put that to the test.” He would say, his words only making the woman chuckle even harder than before
“You might just have one of the brassiest sets of balls I’ve ever encountered… I suppose we’ll see whether I need to rip them off or not. The names Junko, and if you keep me waiting too long I may well go through with my little threat… Shin” She would say as she glanced down at his Visitation Permit to get his name, her challenging eyes boring into his own with an intensity that almost made him shiver
“I wouldn’t dream of it, and I look forward to this little test later.” The Assassin would say as he took the permit back with the same feral grin on his face.
With that, the duo would leave, and Shin could barely keep the grin off of his face. The women of Sunagakure truly were his kryptonite, but he couldn’t bring himself to care.
He would be brought out of his musings as Enrai began to wonder about the village they would be defending, and the young Hyuuga would nod along as he spoke.
“It’s likely the latter, I’ve seen this type of tactic used quite often by less skilled groups of bandits. They don’t have the skill, but they get by on sheer numbers. It doesn’t matter much if they die, because the ones sent in are just fodder that can swarm. They attack day and night to wear the defenders down and to kill what few skilled people they have, until eventually they can’t fight back at all. I wouldn’t be too surprised if this mission is being paid for by the townspeople pooling what little funds they have left together.”

As they were getting ready to leave and Enrai had asked the question, he was slightly surprised to see hie friend Shin immediately flirting with the seemingly angry Suna guard, but apparently she was one of those tough types that wanted a challenge, or something, as it seemed that Shin had basically woo'd her by taking up her challenge. Enrai shook his head and continued walking, choosing not to comment on it, as flirting with people definitely was not his game, he did not know how to, nor did he feel like explaining to people what the thread ritual had done to his body to women he could potentially bring home. He did not really like to think about it too much either. As they were getting close to the town after chatting quite a bit, Enrai noticed some people in the distance, and it seemed like they had a bunch of weapons and a bit of armor. The weapons and armor seemed pretty poor when they were getting closer, and Enrai soon figured out that they were a patrol of some kind from the small village that they were heading to. Enrai thought that it was no wonder that the people of the village were losing people, even now when they were waiting for the two of them to come and assist they sent out people that were essentially fodder to the bandits that were terrorizing them.
They were really close to the village at this point, and soon one of the people, the one that seemed the most experienced of the group, the leader so to speak, came up to them and started to talk to them in a fairly commanding tone. "Hey you two, who are you? Why are you so close to Guiana Village? State your business!" The man would say fairly loudly, but he seemed to be making sure it was not escalating into a yell. Getting yelled at was the easiest way to become hostile towards the person yelling at you if you were so inclined. Enrai chuckled a bit, hopefully before Sin started talking as to not scare the people, and quickly started explaining. "Hey hey big guy, we're here to help you. We're the ones sent by the village to protect you while you build your wall." Enrai would say, the man quickly becoming a bit subservient instead of the confident person he was a moment ago. "Ahh, the mercenaries, of course. I apologize for any rudeness earlier, just trying to keep the potential ruffians away, I hope you understand." The man would hastily explain as to not gain their ire. A coule of people were supposed to take on the entire group of bandits, and it seemed like the man believed that notion and was being suddenly extra kind to them.
With the help of the people, they had a nice escort to the village, and saw that the construction was already underway. The leader of he village seemed to be overseeing things, and quickly greeted the two of them with a bow. "Thank you so much esteemed guests for accepting our request." The leader then offered them the best treatment the small village could offer, which was good food and drink, but not much else. Soon, the festivities would be cut short as a bell was rung in the village, with people screaming about a bandit attack. Enrai was ready for this, and quickly headed to the side of the village that the people were yelling about, and saw the group of the bandits sitting outside the village. They had a few archers that seemed ready to fire, with the leader of the bandits yelling about handing over the rest of their money and such. Before they finished, Enrai would spring into action, quickly forming a few hand seals. Soon, five large spears made of earth would form out of the ground near the bandits, and then rapidly skewer through some of them on the outskirts, making a bit of a box that they were stuck in unless they crawled on the ground or jumped over the spears.
His buddy Shin would undoubtedly take care of the rest of them after the initial blast, and soon the bandits would be no more. After that, it was a simple task to simply leave with the leader's seal of approval on their bounty paper and turn it in for the rest of their money from the bounty association.

Re: We Have to Build A Wall [Mission, Kenshin]

It was only with his Byakugan that Shin caught the minute shake of Enrai’s head at his antics, and truthfully he could understand it, Hoori was a notorious horndog and he’d had to watch the man do this and more countless times… but really, could one blame him with this blue haired beauty? The duo would make their way towards the smaller village at a somewhat sedate pace for them, but still quite a bit faster than what any normal person would have been able to accomplish. They would chat a little along the way, nothing that either had said having been anything of importance or even worthy of remembering… hell, both of them would likely forget everything that had been said by the time they reached this dead end town. He would take note of the very raggedy patrol that they passed, his fine eyes nearly making him cringe at just how badly their weapons and armour were being maintained… it would be a wonder if the weapons were even capable of giving anything more lethal than an infectious cut at this point. The ‘leader’ of this ragtag band would begin shouting at them, making demands and all in all doing little to endear himself to Shin. Thankfully, The Assassin wasn’t one to really care about stuff like that, and this guy was simply another client, so he would bite his scathing tongue and let Enrai handle the situation.
That proved to be the correct move, as with a few words from him the attitude of the hardass and his goons would change from hostility to simpering… somewhat pathetic, but understandable given his position. The duo would be led to the village in question, only to see the remainder of the ‘militia’ there and perform their job, or at the very least they were starting work on it… it seemed that they were impatient to get their protections built… but again, The Hyuuga understood it entirely. Truthfully he was a little surprised that they hadn’t felt the need for walls like this in the past. The mayor, or whatever the leader of this village went by, would greet them with much fanfare and celebration, but shortly after these festivities began they were cut short by a group of bandits… something that definitely put a bit of a damper on Shin’s good mood. Ahh well, it seemed that if he wished to continue to play he would need to finish his work.
Enrai would burst into action first, and create a literal deathbox around the bandits with some high tier Earth manipulation, a skill that Shin had always admired from his partner. With that, however, Shin would simply end this farce of a fight with his Imitation White Hole, something that he formed 3m above the heads of the bandits trapped within the box. The people that had previously been panicked were rendered somewhat speechless by the demonstration of power from the shinobi they had hired, but that shock quickly turned into awe, which then turned into joy and happiness. The duo would find themselves showered with praise, and the leader of the village would thank the two of them quite profusely as he signed off on their contracts. The duo would stay for a little while to relax and unwind, although the constant thanks and cries of joy from the locals began to get on Shin’s nerves within the hour. He would inform Enrai of this, and he suspected that the same feeling would hold true for Enrai himself, so the duo would begin heading back to the outpost from earlier to pick up their pay.
But for Shin… well, he was excited for more than just the money. He was eager to meet up with Junko once more, the fiery and gorgeous woman having definitely caught his interest earlier, and he was eager to spend some time with her to get to know her a bit better. He could feel that she was powerful, comparable to the Kazekage herself from what he could recall of their meeting… but there was something different about this one, and he was eager to discover what it was.
And hopefully without getting himself killed or maimed in the process.
