Treasure Beneath the Surface [Saya, Dana]
Sun Jan 09, 2022 9:25 pm
Mission One
Mission Two
The Land of Water is known for many forms of wealth. The wealth of the sea, and all of the many creatures that dwell within it. The wealth of coin, as it flows through the island country due to its fortuitous location for trade. The wealth of its people, their culture situating them for a comfortable lifestyle behind the strange gale walls that serve as their protectors. The wealth of their land, however, was often considered to be far less. They were not earth country- the land itself had relatively little to give in comparison.
This was why when one of the few titanium mines within the country put in a request for shinobi assistance in excavating the latest batch of product, a team was dispatched to help solve their problem- although perhaps it would have been simply and perhaps cheaper to just hire more laborers. Born by relatively expedient ship, Kikuko would wrap her jacket about herself as she looked around the excavation site. The fact that the first time she was leaving her home in such a while would be for mining work was somewhat underwhelming, but for what it was she welcomed the opportunity to perhaps do something other than the same civilian work with her family she had gotten so used to. It would be a slow, sedate sort of mission, filled with hard work and sweat and labor. Really, it would be fine. Just work for the foreman, get titanium, and get it. What could go wrong?
Well, aside from the fact that they had to steal an heirloom back from one of the workers. But that was a whole other issue.
Rocking on the balls of her feet, Kikuko would look to the horizon while waiting for her backup. This sort of mission usually called for a team- but where were they? And who would be coming? Her head abuzz with thoughts, she would perch herself upon a rock until they finally arrived.

It was a bright and beautiful day. By some strange coincidence, our dear protagonist found herself up with the sun, prepared and ready for the mission before her! I'm completely kidding. It would not be Everyone's favorite terror Saya, but her older sister embarking on this journey. The scroll came by first light, left on the doorway asking for Saya's assistance in the only mine in the chain of islands, but of course the girl was burried deep in her bedding, snoring soundly. Ai woke early, crawling from her bed to find the note, and decided that her little sister had been busy enough in the past weeks to deserve a break. And so she set the laundry to be done, prepared a healthy breakfast for when Saya woke up, Put a container of mapo tofu in the fridge for when Saya turned her nose up at the very expensive breakfast that had taken Ai over an hour and a half to prepare, and set out to figure out exactly where they needed to be.
It was an exciting surprise to see their friend Kiku was on this trip. The girl worked well with her as a puppet, and they'd done a few things here and there before. The only downside was neither girl was particularly strong. If they were meant to be mining and hauling iron, there would be some issues with the two's combined strength of ten that they would need to figure out. That was fine though. Ai was certain that the third member of their team would be someone tough and beefy who could do all the heavy lifting. Theres no way they wouldn't realize that to be an issue with the team and make sure they solved the problem right?
This, my dear audience is called forshadowing.
"Hey Kiku! I guess we're teaming up to go get some metal from the mines? Not looking forward to the whole hammering through stone ppart, but I bet we can figure out a way to make it easier." She didn't even realize what she'd said and how incredibly wrong it was. THe thought that she assumed they would be using a hammer to pick at caves in order to find precious metals was laughable. it was literally called picking..... Still, what she lacked in mining knowhow she more than made up for in crazy powerful ninjutsu, so push comes to shove she'd probably be fine.
"Any clue who our last member is? I think the scroll said there would be three of us sent out to the mines today but I didnt realize you'd be on the team. Can you like. Use fishing knowlege to make it easier? I'm really not sure how mining works. " Saya had knowlege of a great many things. She passed that knowlege down to her clones, but there was a number of things she had no clue about. Among those, hard labor was incredibly high on the list. SHe glanced back at the Saya and coach puppet. Both gave a shrug as they waited for any hint as to how the heck to do this.

Unfortunately for Ai, the third member of the team was NOT someone tough and beefy. In fact, it was someone on the completely opposite end of the spectrum. Evidence A: that one time Dana had tried to fist-fight Pinochio, a taijutsu master - at least at the time, he'd said something about dropping Taijutsu hadn't he?. That was not Dana's brightest moment, she had to admit. Then again, Dana didn't really have a lot of bright moments in her life. Except for that time when she'd somehow stumbled upon the idea to put petrol into her tea, that had been absolutely genius. Who else had the level of forward-thinking required to achieve such culinary perfection?
Dana exited Yuri's house in an appropriate state of wear for the mission coming ahead: thick luminescent trousers, a high-vis vest with a padded fleece underneath, and a hard hat with a light on it. Where Dana had procured these articles of clothing was a mystery, and it would remain that way. If anyone asked, though, Dana definitely hadn't stolen them from a hardware shop down the road. Dana was far too well-behaved to do such a thing.
She skipped down the streets of Kirigakure with a big smile on her face, and soon arrived at the mission location. Once there, she spotted her good friend Ai and another girl who looked vaguely familiar. Since they would have surely spotted her by now due to the ridiculously conspicuous outfit she had on, Dana approached the two at a walking pace whilst waving to them. She didn't think she was too late, but Dana didn't have a watch so she had no way to be sure.
"Top of the morning to ye two!" Dana said cheerily, stopping once she'd gotten closer to the group, "Ai! Lovely to see ye again, and ye Coach!" She said with the same bright tone, waving to the large wooden guy. She still remembered the time when Coach had almost killed her - back when she'd first met Saya - but Dana was the type of person to let bygones be bygones so she didn't hold a grudge.
"Right then!" Dana said, clapping her hands together once, "Where do we begin?"

Evidently, they weren't going to be beginning at all as Dana suddenly remembered she'd left the kettle on the stove during her recent attempts at making tea. She waved her two friends goodbye and ran off at a pace a taijutsu practitioner would be impressed with.
