One after the other Pt. 1

Mission 1 Details:

Ise had woken up for the day, quickly preparing for the early morning ahead, which was a good thing because shortly after he was about to leave, he had found out from his mother that a few missives for the young Uchiha had arrived for him shortly before he had woken up. There were a total of seven completely different missions for him - each of them different from one another. “Jeez, this gonna take up most of the entire day,” Isemori thought to himself, groaning at the fact he knows he will be extremely tired after all of this was done and over with. Knowing that he had a pretty knit tight schedule for the day, he figured that he’d just grab a quick bite to eat whilst heading out to go complete his mission. Luckily for him, the first mission that he decided to do was not that far away. It was a few blocks away from his own house. As Ise had casually walked down the street, the young Uchiha had decided to re-read the missive for the mission, figuring that it’d probably be good to try and get familiar with the details of the mission. He admitted that he could be pretty forgetful and messing up on a mission was the last thing the young Uchiha wanted happening.

The local family of the household he was heading towards hadn’t paid their rent for several months. The family’s landlord had requested to hire a Hoshigakure shinobi to handle the matter. What that meant was … “Wait, are you serious!? Why do I gotta be the one to kick them to the curb!?” The young Uchiha had asked the question aloud, whilst the question was supposed to be a mere inside thought. There were several reasons as to why Isemori didn’t particularly like this mission. The first, as well as most obvious, was that it felt wrong for someone like Ise to handle the matter. After all, he wasn’t the landlord to this family. The second reason was that it did not necessarily state why they had not paid their rent, which could honestly be some reasons. They could be poor - unable to make end’s meat. This family could have fallen into severely hard times even. The young Uchiha let out a heavy sigh, not sure what he should do, let alone to the family that he was supposed to be kicking out.

It made the young Uchiha wonder if the landlord made this request just so that he could higher some ‘muscle’ to do the dirty work for him. However, if that were the case, Ise doubted that his mission wouldn’t have been accepted by the higher-ups. That once made again, let out yet another heavy sigh as he continued to walk down a couple of more blocks before reaching the house. It’s was colored a regular shade blue; the front yard riddled with lawn decorations and a few toys that possibly belonged to the children that are part of this family that Ise was responsible for kicking them out of their house. This only made the young Uchiha even feel kind of worse. Isemori stared at the front door for a few minutes or so, before slowly walking up onto the front porch. The young Uchiha brought up his left hand, knocking on the door the times before taking a step back. Just soon after he knocked a few times, he could hear one, maybe two different voices coming from inside the house. More than likely, it was probably the husband and wife of this rented home. Then after a good five minutes or so, the front door slightly opened inward, revealing the face of a gentlemen that appeared to be in either his late thirties, possibly early forties in terms of age.

“Who are you? What you want, kid?” The man said sternly, holding the door while staring down Ise during and after he had spoken. “Hello sir, I’m Isemori Uchiha - Genin to Hoshigakure’s shinobi forces.” The young Uchiha said, trying to be as friendly as possible, even though the man wasn’t. Ise knew had a feeling that the man already knew why he was here. “I’m here on behalf of your landlord. You have not paid your rent for the past several months and well …” Ise had said, bringing a hand to the back of his head, scratching it. He still wasn’t sure whether or not it was a good idea to do this, even though he was assigned this mission. That was when the man had opened the door more, stepping out onto the porch, showing the mother and the kids sitting down at the table, presumably eating their breakfast. “Let me guess, he sent you to have us clear out, huh?” The older gentlemen had asked rather harshly, obviously getting more and more riled by the minute. Ise took a slight breath and started to say, “Yes. He’s asked me to make you and your family leave the premises. I was essentially hired to evict you,” The words that came out of Isemori’s lips were slow, yet coherent.

The man’s face was silently fuming, however, he had just stood there. “Look, I get it. You and your family have been going through a rough patch. I’m just here because orders are orders. I don’t have anything against you or your family,” The young Uchiha had said to the man, however his words seemed to have meant little, judging by how the older gentleman’s expression didn’t change. “There’s a shelter in the main part of the city. I’m sure they would be able to take you and your family in,” Ise had said, which made the man sigh heavily, having an expression of defeat. “Alright, fine. You can go ahead and tell our landlord we’ll be out of here by this afternoon,” The man said, which had surprised the young Uchiha. Ise thought for sure that the man was gonna blow his top at any given moment. “Also … thanks … for telling us about the shelter, I mean.” The gentlemen had said, quickly going back inside his house.

With that being said, the young Uchiha had pulled out the missive, and a pen that he had in his pant pocket, marking the small piece of paper with a check. Ise had then made sure to make sure to go collect his reward for completing the mission, although … the young Uchiha didn’t feel all too happy completing this particular task.

Mission 2 Details:

An hour had passed by since Ise had completed the first mission he was assigned to for the day, still thinking about the family that he was forced to kick out of their home. Ise was now in the trading district, which was where his next mission would take place, another hard task to do. A multitude of Religious as well as Political groups oppose the current Shinobi rule. Ise knew very little about the actual thick of it, however, it was commonly heard about among other shinobi, mainly those of Chuunin rank or higher more than likely. However, even though Ise was only a mere Genin, he was given this task, believing that he had what it took to see this mission through to the end. However, those that do join these groups from time to time, eventually seek a way out - no longer wanting to stay involved in the conflict. The young Uchiha, despite having very little knowledge on the subject, knew very well the reason as to why some people would want to escape such a thing. It was because of the things they have seen … the things they have done, that gradually gnawed on them as time went on. The burden of wanting to strive for the ideal of no longer wanting to live under Shinobi rule had gotten to them, because of the blood they have seen being shed, or the blood they have spilled.

Word would eventually work its way to the shinobi, where shinobi like Ise would be given tasks to aid such a person in their escape. It may sound easy, however, the truth is that it’s not easy at all. It could be dangerous. Some have more than likely died - the shinobi who would aid in the escapee’s escape, and the escapee for essentially committing treason, abandoning the cause they had once strove for. The young Uchiha discarded his shinobi headband for this mission because wearing it would mean trouble for him and the person he will be aiding … whoever they are. That was the reason why he was there within the trading district - to meet them, as well as escort them to the Water Gardens, where they would then be taken. However, it was easier said than done still, as they couldn’t meet in a location away from prying eyes. No, if they wanted to do this right, Ise would have to make it seem like he was one of them, which was why he had taken off his headband. Ise also could not risk using his Sharingan, as well as any jutsu. The group that he was infiltrating was a religious group though, which hopefully meant that being accepted wouldn’t take much time, nor be all that risky for him.

Even though they opposed shinobi rule within Haven, they were still religious and held fast and strong to their beliefs. Most religious groups were like this, and even though some still had their forces that could cause one harm, as long as Ise showed them that he ‘wanted’ to be among them, then they’d have no reason to find him suspicious. No guards or priests were watching the front doors, which made say think to himself, “I guess it just goes to show ya that even though these people, despite being against shinobi, are not aggressive like most others. Still, I’ll need to be careful, and find the client as fast as possible before someone realizes why I’m here,” the young Uchiha thought to himself, walking inside through the front doors. Once inside, Ise had taken notice of a select few, mainly those adorned in priest clothing, that were scattered about. They did notice the young boy walking inside, however, they simply smiled at him whilst also giving him a nod, then proceeded to carry on with their own business. Ise had returned the favor of giving those would smile and nod at him the same gesture, whilst he glanced around. That was when he had noticed a girl about his age over in the corner that had matched the description of his client.

The young Uchiha had proceeded, to walk over to her, as if acting like he would come to her aid, seeing that she seemed to be organizing a large number of boxes. Luckily for him, they were isolated enough; away from anyone prying eyes and ears. Ise would smile at her while ‘helping’ her and said, “Hiya! The name’s Ise. I was told to come and help ya out with these.” The young Uchiha had said, however, that was not the actual case. Whilst he was facing away from the priests on the other side of the room, he revealed his shinobi headband while giving her the same smile, showing her that he was the one to come to her aid in escaping. Judging from her expression, she had acknowledged this right, nodding while smiling herself at Ise and said, “Thanks! I appreciate it,” she said, prompting the two of them to act like they were working. He glanced over his shoulder whilst organizing the boxes, seeing if they were being watched. When everything seemed normal, Ise had faced the boxes and whispered enough to where she could hear him speak, but others couldn’t.

“We’re going to act like we’re taking these to the storage shed outside. Stay close to me once we’re outside and we’ll make our way to the Water Gardens, ‘kay?” He said, whilst giving her a sense of reassurance. She had quietly nodded, prompting Ise to take the lead in a sense. The both of them grabbed what they could carry, making their way outside to the storage shed, now completely out of sight from anyone who’d attempt to stop them. They casually took their time to get out the door and to the storage shed, making sure they did not seem like they were in a rush of some sort. Luckily the young Uchiha didn’t need to stress to her how important it was to not give themselves away, which was … different. Normally, a regular person would be nervous, if not anxious, however, the woman seemed calm. It made Ise wonder why she wanted to escape from the religious group in the first place. Once they set the boxes down once in front of the shed, Ise spoke to her once more. “Alright, I can’t risk using a jutsu to get swiftly away from here, so what we’ll do is climb the wall and once we get ourselves away from here, we’ll then make preparations to get to the Gazebo in time.” Ise had said, climbing up the wall with the use of a couple of kunai, then reaching an arm out to her after putting his kunai away quickly to help her up and over the wall. Once the two jumped down on the street below, Ise gently and the girl ran together, gaining distance from the trading district.

Ise would also make sure every once in a while as they continued to run through the streets that they weren’t being tailed. After the two of them had reached the city square, he extended a hand to her, then forming a hand seal with his other hand, zipping them away towards the water gardens, appearing a few feet away from the Gazebo where another shinobi stood waiting for Ise and the escapee to arrive. “This is it. The best of luck to you,” Ise said giving her a grin. She smiled warmly and said, “Thank you. I appreciate you more than you know,” The woman had said. It was then that she and the other shinobi departed, leaving the young Uchiha alone in the Water Gardens. Ise knew that it was probably for the best that he shouldn’t mention this to anyone. It was yet another tough pill to swallow, however, the young Uchiha knew that it was for the girl’s safety, which was far more important.

Mission 3 Details:

Isemori had once again made his way towards the Trading district within the village, having completed two of his missions so far. This one was probably a little less difficult, however, he had more ground to cover this time around as for this third mission, he was requested to be on patrol around this time. Various travelers from all over, as well those a select few that reside within Hoshigakure conducted trade. Some of it being the legitimate kind, while others … not so much. The missive stated that it was the young Uchiha’s job to handle as well as report any disturbances he came across while on patrol. I made him think about the time he patrolled the residential district a few weeks ago, remembering the disturbances that he dealt with during that time. Sure, it was going to be different this time around, however, it was still technically the same. Only this time, he didn’t have to meet with anyone this time. “Probably because of how well I did the last time,” Ise thought to himself whilst he grinned, being only slightly smug about it. Or perhaps it was because he felt rather confident that he could handle something like this, like all of the other missions he had done so far.

“Welp, there’s no time like the present! The patrol should last for at least for a while, so it’s probably best to go ahead and get a move on while I can,” The young Uchiha said to himself, tying his shinobi headband over his forehead. With that, The young Uchiha had started to walk around, while taking note of any seemingly unusual activity. That was when Ise had noticed a couple of people wearing familiar garments. Ise had taken a step to the right, hiding behind the wall. “They must be from that religious group from earlier, judging by their robes,” The young Uchiha had said, deciding to try and listen to what they were saying. Ise jumped up onto the building in front of him, crouching down to where he could not be seen while attempting to listen in on their conversation. “Lady Kumi is nowhere to be found! Where could she have gone!?” One of the priests had said, sounding disheveled. “He’s probably referring to the girl that I helped escape. Sucks to suck, eh?” The young Uchiha thought to himself smugly, as he continued to listen in on the rest of the conversation. “We’ve been searching for her for quite a while now, and there’s been no sign of her,” The second priest scowled in frustration, leading the third priest to speak up this time.

“Unfortunately, we can’t afford to waste any more time looking for her. We have to head towards the checkpoint to retrieve the other treatment. We can’t afford to have our suppliers waiting for us,” He said sternly, and with that, the three Priests had decided to head west, deeper into the trading district. “Suppliers? Could they be talking about whatever was in those boxes I saw earlier?” The young Uchiha thought to himself for a moment. “I better keep tailing them from the rooftops. Might even be a good idea a couple of shadow clones,” Ise thought, weaving the hand seals to create two shadow clones. “We’re gonna split apart and tail those guys,” The real Isemori said, pointing at the priests that were walking away. “We’re not gonna engage them or whoever they’re meeting with. We’re only gonna gather intel because we will more than likely be outnumbered. Now let’s go!” Ise said, and with that, the three of them scatted evenly apart, tailing whilst going from roof to roof from one building to the next. After following them further west within the district, they had stopped at what appeared to be a storage unit area. Ise and his clones had taken note of the people who seemed to have been waiting for the three priests.

“What took ya so long to show up!? You know we can’t afford to stick out like a sore thumb, especially with this stuff!” The bandit snarled at the priests, obviously showing a hint of paranoia in his tone. “We know and we deeply apologize about that. We had sort of hit a snag as one of our Ladies of the church has gone missing,” The calm priest had said. “At any rate, we are here to pick up the supplies that we have purchased from you,” The priest had walked forward. Ise had been curious to see him open the box, however, the bandit had stopped him, firmly pressing down on the box’s lid, preventing him from opening it up. “Well, about that. Ya see … you had requested double the quantity at the last minute so, we are going to need another ten-thousand Ryo. It’s just how it works,” The man had said smugly, having one of those disgusting-looking grins on his face. “Whatever it is that these priests bought from this guy can’t be any good.” Ise thought to himself having a serious look on his face while he continued to listen in the conversation some more.

“Are you serious!? You’ve been practically bleeding us dry ever since we started paying you!” One of the other two priests spoke out loudly, only for the head priest to raise an arm, shaking his head at the one who had spoken out. “We will gladly pay you the additional ten-thousand Ryo. After all, we are wanting the same thing. We mustn’t forget that we have joined forces so that our groups can try and overthrow the shinobi as much as possible. If we are to see this through, we have to work together; not bicker about such things that mean very little to our cause,” The head priest said, mainly directing his words towards the priest that had attempted to speak out against paying the dealer. After the head priest had finished what he wanted to say, the dealer’s smug grin grew wider, prompting him to remove his hand off of the lid, letting the priest open the box. That was when Ise had seen a various array of weapons - mainly Kunai and shuriken. “So, they bought ninja tools from the guy. So much for the peaceful type. Why would they resort to using weapons that shinobi use? It doesn’t make any sense,” The young Uchiha thought to himself, trying to make sense of it.


Ise’s train of thought ended abruptly when the head priest had started to speak once more. “We appreciate you for working with us in giving us our supplies. We hope to work with you more in the near future,” He said with a bow, picking up the box, and with that, the three priests were on the move again. A few minutes later, Ise and his two shadow clones had once again gathered together. “Tailing the priests had been slightly informative, however, there are now new questions that we must find the answers to, like why the church is purchasing weapons. Whatever the case, Kumi, our most recent client had probably caught wind of it and due to the fact the church has been more than likely been buying weapons for a short while now.” Ise had said, putting his left hand underneath his chin, trying to think of possible answers to why they’d want to use the ninja tools that they have acquired. They were priests; not shinobi. How would they be able to effectively use ninja tools like that if they weren’t trained in how to use them? “Well, at any rate, it looks like we’ll have to do some more tailing. However, this time, we’ll be tailing the dealer. Since it’s just himself, I think I got this covered on my own. I appreciate your help,” Ise had said, grinning at his two shadow clones. Shortly after the clones dissipated in small puffs of smoke, the real Ise started to tail the dealer, sticking to the rooftops still.

“It’s a no-brainer that this guy is more than likely dangerous than the three priests, despite being by himself. What’s more, is that he may possibly end up doing some more criminal activity. If that’s the case, I’ll need to bring him in for some good ole interrogation,” The young Uchiha thought to himself as he continued to tail the dealer. As time had gone on, Ise had witnessed him making a few more deals with some unsavory-looking people as he continued observing him from above. As of now, this was the third deal he had made, which included the sale of the ninja tools from priests half an hour ago. “Well, that’s enough tailing for one day. I enough intel on this guy to put away for quite a long time. I guess it’s time I introduce myself,” The young Uchiha thought to himself, deciding to drop down from the rooftop, landing a few meters in front of the man, which had startled him. “What the-” The man had said, however, Isemori had decided to cut the guy off. “Ya know, what you’ve been doing the past few hours is strictly illegal in Haven country.” The young Uchiha had said, trying his best to mimic the expression that the guy had made when he was talking to the priests earlier, essentially letting the man know that he had been following him for quite some time.

The dealer made a ‘Tsk’ noise shortly after Ise had finished what he was saying, a drop of sweat forming on his cheeks. It was clear to the young Uchiha that the man wasn’t expecting to have been tailed, which honestly told Isemori that the man wasn’t all that smart. Then again, he was a criminal after all. “So!? What is a kid gonna do about it!? Now scram before I give you a reason to go crying to your mommy,” The dealer said to the young Uchiha, forming that signature smug grin of his, more than likely thinking that what he had said was supposed to be intimidating to Isemori or something. However, all it did was made Ise roll his eyes and ask, “Is that seriously the best comeback you got?” Ise was honestly provoking him at this point. “Why you little!” The dealer said, starting to rush at Isemori, bringing his fist up to attempt to punch him in the face, however, Ise activated his Sharingan, locking eye contact with the man, only to knock him out with his ocular genjutsu. Shortly after the guy collapsed face-first into the ground, Ise rolled his eyes, deactivating his Sharingan, and said to himself, “Honestly, stealing candy from a baby was harder.” Ise had then formed the hand seals to create a shadow clone, and after it had fully materialized, he said, “Help me carry this guy, will ya? We’re gonna take him into custody, tell who we can about looking into the church here in the trading district, and then head over to our next mission location,” Ise had said, trying to make it short and simple as possible so that way they didn’t take longer than they had to in terms of lugging the idiot around.

Ise had dropped him off at the unseen university, where he had also given the information about the church and what the man he had brought had been doing. Ise was told to wait before heading back out to his next mission, more than likely to tell him whether or not he would be assisting in the takedown of the church in the possibly near future. Once the Uchiha had been given the okay to take his leave, he took the missive for his trade district patrol, creating yet another checkmark on another slip of paper. “Well, that’s another mission down! Let’s see what’s next,” he said, now looking at the next unmarked missive while also keeping it in order. It was another patrol mission, however, this one was in the outskirts of the village. Without wasting any time, Ise quickly made his way over there.
