Asahi Yagami had done some strange things for tickets into different sorts of engagements. Between simply paying money, paying in deeds, and there was that business with the manicurist and the oyster that Yasahiro still refused to admit actually happened when they needed entrance to a martial arts tournament. Still, the idea of receiving a ticket in exchange for some origami was a new one. Not that he was complaining, simply musing on the eccentricities that the world sometimes presented. To match that around him, he wore a Sakura blossom kimono, the pink allowing him to almost blend into the fluttering pedals as they made their journey from limb to land. His blond hair was loose, hung about his shoulders, his face much more feminine than it had been in some time.
His thing fingers danced over the paper making the folds with a careful approach. With a combination of many a hot spring visit and goat milk lotion he had managed to remove many of the calluses his swordsmanship had created. If one glanced, or lacked the prior knowledge it would be easy to mistake him as a woman, something Asahi didn’t mind in the least and spared little thought on. No, his thoughts where strictly on the paper that refused to cooperate. Some might come and be able to make beautiful creations without any background knowledge or known aptitudes , but Asahi wasn’t a protagonist, most like a flashy side character who occasionally got a filler arc. Thus the task proved itself rather difficult.
Several mutilated birds, a handful of ravaged lions, and a half dozen of dower dogs lay crumbled around his hands, their existence never to manifest. He was partly begining to worry thag he’d be asked to leave simply for wasting so much paper. Yet, such a request was not meant and the man at the entrance continued to smile never ending. Weapons and armor gone, a single item of his own remained, and of it he partook. The sake offering some glimmer of hope and peace as it moved between his lips and down his throat. Inspiration would finally strike, and a smile as wide as the doorman’s would cross his lips as well as the sake.
His hands moved quickly as his shoulders became more hunched in focus. Paper chain after chain connected through folds until he had a long length of about arms length. Carrying the monstrosity to the man, he’d present his completed work. “A centipede!” He would say cheerfully, letting the chain fall and swing in the soft blowing breeze. The man would look for a long time before bursting forth with a guffaw of laughter.
“So it is!” He would say wiping his eyes. In truth the paper resembled more of a wagon run over snake than a centipede, still Asahi supposed the man must give credit simply for effort. Wrapping the paper chain….I mean centipede……around his knock he would shake the gentleman’s hand, and make his way into the festival ground in earnest.
