Do a good job, get a new job
Thu Apr 21, 2022 2:27 am
Have you ever found yourself doing a job, and realizing…..hey I’m not bad at this? So, as you continue to do said job, you pick up another that is slightly related. Maybe not completely, but it is within the same wheelhouse. You find that, yes I can do this job and that job and still churn out results. Feeling good, someone comes along and gives you another job. Surely you won’t be able to do this, it’s impossible…..but you find a way. Where there was one job, you now hold three and each are going well. Perhaps a bit of a spinning plates on sticks scenario but they stay up, and so do you. The moral of the story, is….one should never try too hard at anything or else you will be rewarded with more work.
This was essentially the thought process that Asahi was currently undertaking. In front of him sat several individuals. The Daimyo and true rules of the land of rice. The man whose station along with Yasahiro’s backing had built up the settlement to once again thrive in the harsh shinobi world. The other members present where advisors and an incredibly ancient looking man. In truth he was so old Asahi felt if he focused hard enough he could already call upon his ghost in a Seance. Still, the project at hand was related to his earlier train of thought. The older man was the accountant or financial advisor for Tanbogakure, and had been serving the Daimyo for many years. Which in Asahi’s opinion must have been an understatement, he swore he saw the man die three times of old age just to revive in this meeting alone.
The meeting was supposedly separate from Yasahiro’s realm of authority and therefore he was not present. In truth, Asahi felt that if Yasahiro had been more present none of this would have ever occurred. Still his beloved cousin had been more moody as of late, and without much to say in the matter he was giving him some distance and time apart from their weekly dinner and drink.
Matters of his mission completion rate were discussed, which to his surprise was the highest among all registered Tanbo shinobi. A surprise, considering Asahi wasn’t even aware he was a registered shinobi. His revenue stream from said missions had greatly assisted the town, both in influence and financially. His annonymous donation of several tens of thousands of ryo was also brought up, again……he thought that had been anonymous. Finally his interests and business dealing with both his own business that had made a fair bit of money, and his workings and runnings to improve the tea shop that served locals and tourists alike.
In grand total, Asahi felt they were making a bigger deal of these things than they should, but…..here they were. Before he knew it he was shaking hands with the Daimyo and was told to report to the castle in the morning in two days to receive the briefing from Kinyu Gojo after a village council meeting. From tomorrow forward he would be serving as the secondary leader of Tanbogakure, and the head of village development and economic growth. “I’m not sure about this one Princess….” He’d say still a little shell shocked. He’d pay and the scratch behind the white horses ear looking into its vibrantly green eyes. He merely Whinnied, and seemed to roll its eyes. “O you are never of any help in situations like these.” He’d say a little exasperated, swinging up to sit upon the beautiful creature. “Let’s go home, and get a drink…..maybe I can write it off as a financial expense for sanity.” He’d laugh at that, though he still felt a little nauseas.
