Preparing for battle

Hayato gets ready for his first solo mission with a bit of danger involved. He donned his Senbonzakura armor. He makes sure to ready every strap and tassel making sure it is securely attached to his person. All right armor check .... It takes a lot longer to get it on then he would have expected. Fortunately it doesn’t feel strange to the boy. It’s actually quite easy to where it almost conforms to his shape.

Next he goes over his weapon pouches making sure to load them up with every consumable Item he could think to carry. They are filled with his sakura colored Shuriken, Senbon and Kunai. The explosive tags and wire are also kept together in this one pouch. His plan is to use them together. The smoke bombs, pills and other consumable items are placed in the other pouch. He doesn’t need to reach for these items often and doesn’t want to dig to select the right tool for the job.

Most importantly he gathers the two giant Shuriken and the faithful katana that he had purchased. The katana had been his for a while ever since he had purchased it with the spoils of his first few missions. The missions weren’t very shinobi like, but they did help him get started down his path. He would always be grateful to his first katana. It normally would be worn around his waist with his wakizashi, but that was no longer its spot. He looked over to the new blade Kurushimi Hana, but then got back to his task. These three Items would be sealed into his sealing bands. First he attached wire to the two Giant Shuriken. He knew if he reached for these weapons then he was going to make them count. He performed the necessary hand seals and after placing both of the giant shuriken over the left sealing band. They both disappeared into a cloud of smoke. Easy enough… He hadn’t actually used them yet, but the execution seemed simple. He just needed to perform the hand seals and input enough chakra to pull for the the item he was thinking of.

He then went through the same process for the right sealing band and the katana. It, too, disappeared into a puff of smoke. With the sealing done he attached the bands to the proper location on his forearms. The last thing to do was to wear his two swords. The wakizashi would slide into his obi first. It was a pedestrian blade, but one fit for a samurai, a warrior. He had selected to wear it in case he ended up in a space too tight to swing a normal sized blade. This was a useful side arm for many warriors before him and many warriors after.

Lastly he held the blade he had recently crafted in his hands. Kurushimi Hana… It was not the strongest blade he had ever crafted, but it was quite a strong blade. It was beautiful in appearance, but ugly in practice. Hayato was the one that added the Hemlock poison to the metal used to craft it, but he wasn’t too happy with the actual effect. He thought the idea of poisoning his target thus bringing them undue pain after receiving injury was fairly unjust. In a way it was the most shinobi-like thing about him. A blade laced with poison was fitted to a shadow bound weapon of a hidden village. His understanding of his role was a stark difference from the life he had actually been living. He felt like a glorified errand boy or law enforcement. But that was set to change.

He looked at his crystal blue eyes in the reflection of the dark metal blade. It is time, Kurushimi Hana… Treat me well. He paid his respects to the blade, and carefully sheathed it. He stood up and slid the blade into his obi next to his wakizashi.

The boy would leave his mostly empty house in the center of his beloved village. He would leave a boy and either return a man or not at all.
