Resources for the resourceful
Wed May 25, 2022 3:55 pm
The night before, there had been a strange and rare occurrence. A streak of light, a shooting star, had sailed over the village and crashed in the forests of the north. It was rare for the reasoning of a meteorite crashing.. and that it coincided with Arashi's plan to head out and gather resources for the village. The northern tiers were still dangerous, after all, and while sending a party out with a ninja was standard, Arashi liked the quiet and the exercise that came with doing the manual labor himself. So as the sun seemed to request a snooze, the Hoshi Jounin had a bag packed with tools and headed out of his family home, headed north.
As the sun began to rise in the sky, the ninja was stunned to see that not only did this meteorite crash... it crashed hard. A deep if small crater defaced the landscape, and indeed it appeared the meteorite was dense. Jumping down into the crater he could still smell the arid sent of burning woods, and he was able to see charred remains as he reached the bottom of the crater. There, an almost person-sized ball of black sat on the ground, partly buried in the dirt, sticking out like a sore thumb. Putting his bag down, the ninja walked over to the black ball, and put his hand on it. It was still warm, but not burning. And it seemed shiny. Shiny and hard.
A deep impact crater, warm to the touch, thick and shiny... he realized at that point what he had; this ball was mostly metal ore! Some sort of obsidian-like metal... and may be forgeable. Smiling, he pulled out a chisel and hammer, and gently tried to remove a single chunk. He looked at it close, and it conformed it... this was practically a gold mine! With a grin, the shinobi went back to his bag and pulled out a pick. Walking back, he started the long arduous process of mining the meteor. After a while, Arashi was making headway, as he swung shirtless, leaving him glistening in the sun.
