A battle of the senses (Musu/Kota)
Sat Sep 03, 2022 8:19 pm
Musu Uzumaki had been back in the village for a couple weeks by the time he received an invitation from Kota. Once back then, Musu and Kota trained together to study more about how to sense out ninja in the field, albeit a short lesson, the two were connected as training comrades.
Now that Musu had returned he received another invitation from Kota, this time going to the new simulation battle arena, to spar where the consequences wouldn't result in death.
Musu was never very adept at combat, rather being a more support type fighter, but knew from his time away that knowing how defend ones self is a crucial skill. Considering that he had a little past with Kota, accepting the invitation was easy, and Musu was eager to begin.
Musu would arrive at the designated room of the Simulation battle area wearing his grey and brown robes, his jounin flak jacket under him, the gourd of the legendary kazekage Garra, and some assorted battle tools.
Musu didn't know what to expect, so he would let Kota set the stage for the battle, and wait for the doors of the arena to enter to begin the match.
[for the sake of brevity, we will say that Kota/Musu previously met to agree to these terms as to avoid an unnecessary post]

Re: A battle of the senses (Musu/Kota)

Kota was excited. He recently felt like he experienced some growth in his techniques and combat ability. The hunter wanted to see if he was ready for the arena. Rumor had it that by winning and earning merit. One could have their rank raised. The issue was how deadly it was. Unless Kota had some clue as to his capabilities. He would try to avoid jumping towards death. The best thing he could manage was this battle in the VR Arena.
“Musu!” Kota enthusiastically greeted his opponent. This battle, unlike the previous one, was more training for him. A training that he was going to take seriously. If he got wiped too badly here it meant he lacked a future as a ninja. “Let’s get this show on the road.” Kota went to the admin station and input the rules and location. Last time he was here he went with the preset exam settings. This time the power limiter was off and the location was changed to the coliseum. He was gonna get all the real world practice he could.
Then he made his way over to his assigned pod for the battle. “Good luck!” It was the last words that Kota would get in before appearing in the virtual arena the Sand Coliseum. A large space filled with sand on the bottom and a thick scent of blood in the air. Kota would appear 50 meters away from his opponent. Unable to move till the timer dinged, signaling the start of the battle.

Re: A battle of the senses (Musu/Kota)

Musu would wave back at Kota, The Hunter, and marvel at the clear growth this ninja had gone through in the last several months. Who knew what type of jutsu this man possessed, as musu knew too well to expect the unexpected in sunagakure, and was excited to know the extent of his own abilities.
"Best of luck to you too! Loser buys the winner a drink!" Musu would reply. Since the sand man returned to the village, he wanted to incorporate himself more with his fellow comrades, and wanted to know their stories more than when he was just a ninja with the sealing corps. Getting set up, Musu would take a deep breath inside the pod before a bright light blinded the ninja.
The bright light would dissipate and Musu would appear inside the arena: Musu could clearly see Kota standing 50 meters away from him. Both ninja stood 5 meters away from the wall the created the circular arena, 15 meters tall. Beyond that, there was nothing but sand separating the two, highlighting the type of battle they might encounter in the land of wind. Grey clouds would emanate from where a large crowd would be has this been in real life. Musu would take another deep breath while the two fighters were unable to move.
"Beep, Beep, Beep, Beeeeeeeeeeeeep" the buzzer would ring and two combatants would have the ability to move. At the start of the buzzer sand would begin to quickly escape through Musu's gourd and fall to the ground beneath him at a speed of 130.
Beyond that, Musu would begin to weave handsigns at a speed of 75: Bird -> Monkey -> Serpent -> Rat followed by putting his palms together. Suddenly on Musu's chest a seal would appear in the shape of Swirling arrays that resemble a shield. Perhaps Kota knew the handsigns of this seal but he believed at this distance there would be no way for the Hunter to see exactly what the seal was. Once complete, the seal would begin to disappear.
From there, Musu would simply stand with his palms still connected in front of him with his eyes on Kota. His feet would remain still as he could feel the sand churn and move beneath him, waiting for Kota's time to strike. Should kota somehow be able to move quickly enough for Musu to lose vision of him, the sand ninja would react accordingly.

Kota was ready. Remembering his first fight and having a better understanding of his weakness. Kota had his bow slung over his shoulder. He had ample distance from what he could tell. Soon as the buzzer signaled the start. He started running and using both hands at full speed (150), he made the necessary hand signs for senses beyond. With his expanded senses he was able to see the last two performed hand signs with ease that Musu was making, not that he knew what they meant.
It was an odd sensation as he started to focus on using his senses. He could hear the sound of the falling sands, as the archer tried to rapidly close the distance. He could also sense the chakra starting to pool in the sand on the ground. Kota may have looked like he was recklessly running but he kept a close eye and other senses present for various traps.
Kota was unsure if it was self confidence that kept his opponent from moving or something else. After performing the hand signs he put his bow back in his hands. When he got within 20 meters he started to make his move. He lifted up his bow and brought the edge down in a sharp swing. The swing broke the air in front of him. It was a straight vertical line with the edge being on the ground and going up. Kota was hoping to see Musu duck left or right. Going up or trying to dodge down would get him hit with shards.

[For clarity, Chakra Barrier Seal does not get the stat discount, costing 40 AP, total AP Remaining = 1888]
As the battle began, Musu was able to successfully weave the hand signs for his chakra barrier seal and Kota was not close enough yet to interfere with Musu's sand reaching the ground and forming a small platform under his feet. Although the platform was still currently on the ground, Musu would now be able to float above the ground using his now prepared sand.
While this was happening, Kota would make his advance, seeing that also began to weave handsigns.
He's fast! : Musu would think as the Hunter began moving towards the jounin. Musu would see from his far vision that Kota was also weaving handsigns, far faster than even what Musu could react to. Thankfully, there was still a distance that Kota had to travel which gave Musu time to prepare.
As Kota approached the 20 meter mark, the hunter would be able to see strings of seals of various shapes and sizes beginning to reveal themselves from Musu's Body. The Jounin would take a deep breath as the chakra around Musu would begin to thicken as the Pureblood Uzumaki would enter an awakened state, increasing his already potent power and amplifying his speed slighty. For a brief moment, Musu could tell that he was on pace with his opponent.
As the handsigns for Kota's jutsu increased his speed, the jounin would be astonished to see that Kota's bow was unlike any the Jounin had seen before. Musu used to hunt with his father when he was little but never took the time to train in the art properly. This bow appeared to be special beyond that however, and Musu knew that he would need to release a weapon of his own if he wanted any chance of winning.
Kota would swing his bow and terrifying current of air would begin to slice and dice it's way towards Musu. The Jounin of the Sand's wished to test the strength of his chakra chains against the strength of this attack.
As Kota's wind based techinque flew out of his bow a bit of sweat would begin to drip from Musu's brow as 7 chakra chains would erupt from Musu's chestsat a speed of 145. 5 of the chains would travel front of Musu and begin to twist and mangle to create 5, 5 Meter high and wide chakra chains walls. The first chakra chain wall would be a meter in front of Musu, the second 2 meters away, and so on until the fifth and final wall 5 meters away in an attempt to block the incoming wind barrage.
The final two chakra chains would begin to launch towards the direction of Kota at a speed of 145, traveling above the wall of chakra chains, and heading towards his location. The wall of chakra chains would not allow Musu to see through the chains while it held, Musu could still sense Kota so long as we was 20 meters away.
At this point, Musu would hold the line, unmoving from his position, should the barrier be broken, Musu would know that this defense was not strong enough, and hope that he survived to create a more powerful defense.

Kota was calm as he kept on target. Releasing the glass shard swing did not stop his advancement. He could see the seals forming on the body and was not all surprised by the chains that shot out the body. Kota gave his bow another small swing and sent out a softer blow of wind. Kota was not sure if his opponent would notice but the chakra chains slowed down to 95 speed. It did not stop his bow from swinging through the air, it flowed like flowing water as he made another round of seals from it at 210 speed.
Kota waited as the chains got closer before jumping up from his previous position, finishing his jutsu at that time, he cleared the 7 meter distance from the ground with his jump, and dodged reflexively. The scary part was that he never stopped running and moving forward. He was running on air as if he was flying. The jutsu from his seals forming covered him, hiding him and allowing him to try some stealth maneuvers as he got closer. Kota could still sense Musu from using his chakra sensory ability.
Not stopping and closing the distance, Kota was 7 meters in the air, and now 13 meters away from the target he could sense. Kota started radiating chakra focused on his target. As soon as he would get within 10 meters the target would be slowed. Kota was flying through the sky invisible for the most part, and starting to make his bow flow again. He was gearing up to start blasting when he believed he was close enough.

Re: A battle of the senses (Musu/Kota)
Fri Sep 09, 2022 9:14 pm
As the battle progressed, moments would appear to stretch on longer than usual for Uzumaki Jounin. With Musu's heightened speed, he could sense things more immediately, and he believed that the real battle was now starting to begin. Musu began to realize the full effect of his powers would take an immense toll on his chakra reserves, and me would need to consider other ways to replenish his strength. That was a thought for another time and he would need to focus on the battle at hand.
As the two remaining chakra chains began their assault towards Kota the seals engraved on Musu's skin would burst like blooming flowers during spring, and release a wave of energy inside the Sand Jounin, revitalizing him in the process. Sand would continue to mill and form under Musu's feet, as the platform would continue to maintain.
A crash could be heard inside the arena as Kota's Glass Shard Swing clashed with the first 5 meter barrier of chakra chains. This would happen in tandem with Musu's two remaining chakra chains launching over the final barrier, aimed towards Kota. Musu understood that Kota's bow appeared to be the most dangerous part of his arsenal and now began to believe that this would be a battle of which was stronger : the Bow or the chains.
Sensing Kota's chakra continuing to advance at a rapid speed Musu knew that his chains were not going to be fast enough in his opponents current state. As the two chains Musu sent would continue to launch themselves towards Kota, Musu would feel a light breeze, and in his heightened state he realized that the speed of his chains would immediately become even slower.
"Impossible, nobody has ever slowed down my chains before. Just what is this guy." Musu would think to himself. While his chains were slowed, Musu himself did not feel slower, which at least informed Musu that it was only the technique that was effected, but he was unsure as if Musu's other techniques would be slowed as well, nor did he know if his chains overall power and durability were decreased. The Jounin of the sands decided that it was time to up the ante.
In the moments after the wind current slowed down Musu's chakra chains, the 5 chains that created the walls would retract, untangle, and create a 5 meter Dome with Musu at the center at a speed of 95. The five chains that created this dome would creat a cross stitch pattern with 2 inch holes, all connecting to Musu through the chakra points on his chest. The two remaining chains would continue to launch themselves towards Kota at a speed at 95.
While the chains were moving, Musu would begin to weave hand seals : Rat, Ox, Hare, Tiger, Snake, Dog, and Boar at a speed of 150. Given the speed of Musu's hand seals, the hand seals would complete as Kota began to jump into the air. 8 more chakra chains, more orange than yellow in color, would begin to launch from Musu's chest at a speed of 230. 5 of the chakra chains would launch forward towards the direction of Kota, depending on whether the Hunter would continue with his forward assault. Should the chains reach their target they would threaten to envelop around them, looking to end the match right here.
The two remaining chakra chains would begin to envelop around Musu at a speed of 230, allowing the jounin to wear the chains as a sort of armor, leaving room to breathe and see clearly.
Chakra Chains 20 AP Upkeep (22 - 10 % Chakra stat discount) ; Speed 95 , Power/Health 145
Mineral Sand Generation - 36 AP - 8/10 Sand Charges
Desert Suspension Upkeep 18 AP (20 - 10 % chakra stat discount)
Uzumaki Resolve : 50 AP - 230 Vigor / 150 Speed ; +200 AP per active effect.
Adamantine Sealing Chains : 90 AP (100 AP - 10% Chakra Discount) - 230 Power / Health / Speed

Even with all the combat experience Kota was amassing. He was still unable to account for all that was going on. The rapid moving of the chains even when slowed was not something he could keep up with. His goal was still to get as close as possible to deliver the kill. Kota may have been an archer but he was more of a close quarters one. His entire goal was to get close enough for the kill and end it all at once.
Dodging the first round of chains. Kota could feel his speed lapse for less than a second. Since using it in his last fight he understood the limitations of his previous jutsu. No sooner that it stopped did Kota’s blood start pumping. His speed went back up to the range Kota was used to. This happened in the moment that he turned invisible. He was still weaving his signs with his bow when he noticed the rapidly approaching chains. Kota did not stop as he did not think he could dodge it. He was continuing with what he was doing.
Kota was moving at his full speed of 210 while he weaved the seals, dodging any chains that would have tried to get him from behind. He could see the links under him and was aware of any moves they made. In the instance he finished weaving the seals he was seven meters away from Musu with the chains attempting to wrap around him. The field from Split Second would slow Musu down but not affect the chains. When he finished the seals Kota used zero time and knocked five arrows as black as night, each with a faint white line. It was his last shot.
Kota released the arrows one after another, slightly staggered by 2 meters at ending distance from each other. All but one arrow aiming down at Musu with Kota’s close distance and the chains in the way. At 250 Speed the first arrow hit the adamantine chains, at first it looked like nothing happened, till the corrosive power of the arrow destroyed the chains, ripping the jutsu apart as if made from paper. The second arrow was not aiming for Musu instead it would hit the chakra chains to rip them apart as well. The last three arrows would be aiming in a triangle formation to lock Musu in. The arrows would be spaced out enough so that and fields would only overlap in the center where Musu was present. Kota was still running through the air and was able to make any maneuvers if he felt the need for them.

Re: A battle of the senses (Musu/Kota)

The motion of events would continue to exhilarate the Jounin of the sands. Very rarely has Musu ever been in a life or death situation, even though this was a simulation it sure felt like one, and it was a whirlwind of emotions all at one. Musu didn't know what Kota had in store next but sensed that this battle was reaching its conclusion. The Jounin of the sands was so glad this battle was in a simulation rather than real life. There was so much he didn’t know.
The Adamantine sealing chains Musu created would successfully launch out from Musu's chest and glowing orange and tipped with powerful spikes. The two chakra chains would protect Musu with one rotating up towards his head and the other rotating down towards his legs.
Kota's jump would reveal Kota closer than ever, elegantly floating above the battlefield as though he was gliding on air, his hand's firmly grasping his bow, his veins appearing to be expanded to their limit. At the sight of Kota so close, the seal Musu placed earlier activated, and added yet another seal pattern to the jounins chest at a speed of 150.
Considering the already 15 chakra chains erupting from this area and the burst seals from his original technique, this new seal would be well covered by other techniques. The activated seal would serve a preemptive measure whatever Kota planned to do. Musu understood that he was much slower than Kota and didn't want to risk trying to react to his opponent's lightning quick movements. Suddenly as Kota inched closer and closer to launching his move Musu would feel even slower than Kota than before. Was Musu intimidated? Scared? Or was this something else entirely.
As Kota inched closer and closer to the 7 meter mark, the two chains that were training the hunter would appear further and further back, still slowed by whatever attack Kota did earlier, and they proved to not be the deciding factor here. Still, Musu would command these chains to continue to pursue Kota, albeit losing distance with each and every second.
The five adamantine chains would continue to launch towards Kota. Although slight, the chains would travel faster than Kota, and would rapidly gain distance as Kota got closer and closer.
The Hunter was still able to complete jutsu without weaving handsigns in the traditional way and would begin to turn invisible. Hell, Musu was unsure if Kota was even using jutsu at this point, but saw that the genin was beginning to turn translucent. Kota's jutsu was slow compared to the speed of the combat itself, so while Kota would turn more and more invisible he was still able to be seen clearly, even seeing Kota would begin to knock his arrows. Kota was still at a very close range and his Musu's sealing chains traveled to near point blank range by the time Kota was invisible. The sealing chains would create a 5 meter tall and wide cone around where Kota should be. While Kota would have enough time to launch his 5 arrows, the five chains already launching towards Kota would seek to impale Kota at vital spots around his body, suppress his chakra, and end this match. The chains would commit their deed a few moments before Kota's arrows connected with Musu.
Given the massive speed difference between the two ninja, there was no way for Musu to react or dodge the 5 arrows Kota launched, and would have no chance to launch his sand platform even though it was ready. The Hunter's precision even in the face of death was inspiring.
Each arrow was surrounded by a Large Aura that proved to be deadly. Kota launched five arrows.
The first arrow would be aimed at the adamantine sealing chains. Upon contact, the arrows' target would shatter and break, destroying that chain, and emitting a small blast. Perhaps Kota assumed that destroying one chain would destroy all five, but Musu’s sealing chains were all individual constructs. The angle that Kota launched would cause the explosion radius not to hit the remaining four chains, given each one's individual distance away from each other. The four remaining chains, aimed for Kota’s upper body and head, would remain intact.
The second arrow would connect with the chakra chains creating a dome around Musu. The explosion radius of this blast would immediately destroy the dome and leave Musu open. By this time, however, the Adamantine sealing chains moving through the holes in the dome would have already connected with Kota, had the hunter been unable to dodge.
The three remaining would surround Musu in an explosion that could not be stopped. The first would be absorbed by Musu’s seal, with Musu’s adamantine chains holding and protecting the jounin.
The second would shatter Musu’s sealing chain around his body and make contact with the jounin. A magnetic pulse would launch from Musu’s gourd in an effort to protect him, however the concussive blast would deal considerable damage. The third would be a direct hit with no way for Musu to defend himself.
“Is this what death feels like?” Musu would think as the third blast did the deed. Musu's upper body immediately turning to goo, Musu's gourd turning into the sand from whence it came.
