Umbrella man

On an overcast day with light rain, a man walks along a soggy road towards the village of Hoshigakure. His steps are light and untiring, although the occasional stumble in puddles along the way causes him to linger a little. Raindrops slowly fall on his face, but he lets them dance on his skin, making him feel the refreshing breeze of nature. He unfurls his umbrella which, by its very pattern and the material it is made of, says a lot about its owner.

The path leads him past a gently trickling stream that flows on his right. The colour of the leaves on the surrounding trees is temporarily accentuated by the rain, giving him the feeling of being in the middle of a green oasis. The beautiful flowers in the meadows bow gently under the weight of the raindrops, as if welcoming him to the village.

Finally, he approaches the village of Hoshigakure, its outline looming behind a misty gate. His gaze first encounters the imposing gate he will have to pass through to enter this village. He stands for a moment in front of the gate, admiring the ornate details he never had a chance to see in the land of rain.

He feels a sense of excitement for what may await him in this breathtaking village. Each step brings him closer to discovering new beauty, adventure and meeting the people of Hoshigakure. With anticipation and a desire to know more, he pauses for a moment to catch his breath, then continues on with light steps towards the gate he slowly approaches within a few dozen meters.

As the man approached the village gates, Harold's keen eyes caught sight of him. He observed the stranger's demeanor, noting the lightness in his steps despite the soggy road. Harold's years of experience as a guard had honed his ability to read people, and the man's body language and relaxed demeanor suggested a friendly and non-threatening visitor.

The rain continued to fall gently, adding to the village's calm and tranquil atmosphere. Harold watched as the man unfurled his umbrella, revealing its unique pattern and material, which hinted at a certain level of sophistication and taste. It was clear that this was no ordinary traveler.

As the man stopped before the gate, seemingly taking in the beauty of Hoshigakure, Harold approached him with a friendly yet vigilant expression, 5 meters away from him. He had seen his fair share of travelers and knew that first impressions could be deceiving.

"Welcome to Hoshigakure," Harold greeted warmly, his voice deep and resonant. "I see you've come prepared for the weather, but having an umbrella in this village is always good."

He motioned towards the entrance. "If you're here to explore, you've come to the right place. Hoshigakure is known for its beauty and rich history. Just respect our customs and rules while you're here. What is your name, stranger?"

While he is observing the architecture of the village, a guard comes to hum from the gate a few meters away. "Yes, village looks quite impressive from the outside alone. It is a great change from our architecture in the Land of Rain." He dabs his sleeve with the drops that run down his face.

"My father was right that you have a very similar climate and weather in Hoshigakure and that is another aspect of why I chose this village besides our relationship with each other". He speaks up with a politician's seriousness. This seriousness however is broken by a factual remark he soon makes "On the way to Sunagakure, I would probably die of heat halfway there." He laughs a little, hoping to amuse the guard at the gate.

After a few seconds, his expression is neutral again, and with a slow movement so as not to alarm the guard, he reaches into his pocket and starts searching for something with his hands. "My name is Sayaku Sashou, and I come here to meet your village leader." He speaks clearly and calmly, having already found what he was looking for. From his pocket he pulls out a scroll with the symbol of the Sashou clans, which he shows to the guard at a distance of 5 meters.

Harold's watchful eye observed Sayaku with curiosity as he introduced himself and presented the scroll bearing the symbol of the Sashou clan. One would have been initially refused a meeting with the highest authority, especially a stranger appearing at the gates. The guard's expression softened slightly, recognizing the significance of the clan elder seal. Elders in the ninja world held the same prestige as Kage, sometimes even more, but that largely depended on the Kage.

"Ah, Sayaku Sashou of the Land of Rain," the guard acknowledged with a nod. "Welcome to Hoshigakure. As a Captain of the Hoshi Guard, I assure you that your visit is highly regarded. Especially with your esteemed status as someone who bears a mark from a Clan Elder." 

Harold noted the seal's importance and stepped forward to move the conversation. "Follow me; I will take you to the Kage's residence." He would give Sanshu a knowing look as the word Kage exited his lips. There was a vast difference between a Kage and a Village Leader. Both titles held their weight of respect in the ninja world. But Village Leaders were those of minor villages and below. At the same time, the title of Kage was reserved for those who held the reins of a Great Village in their hand. And Hoshigakure was one such.

Harold motioned for one of his guards to take over. If Sayaku followed, he would lead the young vagabond through the winding streets of Hoshigakure, pointing out notable landmarks and sharing stories about the village's history and traditions. As they walked, the rain continued to fall, but Harold seemed undeterred, as if the weather had little consequence.

Finally, they arrived at a stately building adorned with intricate designs and symbols befitting the Kage Headquarters. Harold gestured towards the entrance and bowed slightly. "This is the residence of the Seventh Hogokage, Ayato Hyuuga," he said. "I'll inform him of your arrival."

Harold left Sayaku at the entrance and disappeared inside the building to announce the esteemed visitor. Moments later, he returned and nodded to Sayaku, indicating he was welcome to enter.

Sayaku's eager eye followed Harold's every move as he tried to detect anything of his expression and gestures. It was clear that behind Harold's calm and polite demeanor was an experienced and attentive guard. Sayaku knew that meeting with the highest authority was not always an easy task, especially when you were a stranger in an unfamiliar place.

When Harold nodded at Sayaku's idea and acknowledged the importance of the clan seal, the young traveler noted the guard's slightly less suspicious attitude. The prestige that Sashou carried as a clan elder was considerable in the world.''It seems that there are still people alive today who have enough reverence and respect,'' Sayaku thought in his head. Without hesitation, he began to follow the guardian.

The streets grew narrower and narrower as Sayaku entered deeper into the heart of the village. The vista opened up and an imposing building appeared before Sayaka, its stone walls bearing the marks of a long history. It was the Kage's residence, a place few could enter, and Sayaku was captivated by its majesty. Harold stepped into the doorway and was out again in moments. As soon as he said Sayaku was allowed to enter.
"I am pleased to be allowed to meet your leader" replied fleetingly.

Surprisingly quickly he reaches for an umbrella, which he folds and attaches to his back. With his hand he wipes away the drops of water on his face and with the same hand he adjusts the position of the scarf around his neck. Sayaku felt mixed feelings of excitement and nervousness, but he knew this was a moment he would not avoid again. He took a deep breath and entered the building.

As Sayaku entered the Kage's residence, he was met with an aura of authority and power. The interior of the building reflected the village's history and tradition, with intricate designs and symbols adorning the walls. The air was filled with a sense of importance and reverence. As he proceeded further, a secretary guided him to a waiting area. The room was adorned with tasteful decorations, and Sayaku could feel the weight of the responsibility on the Kage's shoulders. He would be asked to sit and wait patiently for his audience with the Seventh Hogokage, Ayato Hyuuga.

After a few minutes, the door to the inner chamber would open, and Harold, who had served as a gate guard and escort to Sayaku, appeared again. He motioned for Sayaku to follow him, indicating that the Kage was ready to meet with him. The meeting room was spacious and grand, with large windows that offered a view of the village below. Behind a large desk 15 meters away sat the Seventh Hogokage, Ayato Hyuuga. He had an air of wisdom and authority, befitting his position as the leader of Hoshigakure.

"Welcome, Sayaku Sashou," the Kage said with a warm yet composed voice. "I understand you have come a long way to visit our village; the mark of the elder giving you passage." There were village laws and ranks, but in the ninja world, there were more archaic ones, forged in the ages of the past before the concept of the villages cam to be. Elder was the rank of most significant honor in a clan a member could have, even moreso than a progenitor, most often called a Pureblood. The clan Elder was the official head and could be a boy of eight or a man of eighty. 

"Please, have a seat," he said, gesturing to a chair opposite his desk. "Tell me, what brings you to Hoshigakure, and how may our village assist you?"

Sayaku entered Kage's residence and immediately felt the gravity and powerful atmosphere that filled every corner of the room. The interior of the building was like a living diary of history, decorated with intricate patterns and symbols that told the story of the village's rich heritage. Every detail of the room highlighted the importance of the past and traditions, and the air was charged with a sense of importance and respect for those who stood before it.

As Sayaku advanced, he was led by the secretary into an elegant waiting room where tasteful decorations and design created an impression of grandeur and dignity. It was as if the past and the present had merged into one harmonious whole. Every step he took was like a humbling bow to the importance and responsibility associated with Kage's position.

With easy grace, he sat down in the offered chair, ready for the next phase of this important meeting. His heart was pounding with excitement and awe, for he sensed that he was about to meet the leader who bore not only the burden of the village, but also the continuing legacy of his clan.

After a short while, the door to the inner room slowly opened and Harold, who was still Sayaka's guide, reappeared. His movements indicated the next step in this momentous meeting. This was the moment when Sayaku was to step into the meeting room and come face to face with the person in charge of the fate of the village. The room was imposing and grand, with windows offering a view of the bustling streets of Hoshigakure.

At the end of the spacious table sat the seventh Hogokage, Ayako Hyuuga. His gaze carried the wisdom of centuries, and the strength and authority that matched his position. Sayaku was confident that he was standing before a man who could steer the village towards prosperity and safety.

Kage's words were like the voice of the past mingling with the present. His warm welcome reflected both respect and a willingness to listen. Sayaku felt that his efforts and visit were acknowledged and that he had the opportunity to present his intentions.

"It is an honor, Seventh Hogokage," Sayaku greeted with humility and gratitude. When he was asked to take a seat, he did so with the humility and courtesy befitting the situation. "My name is Sayaku Sashou of the Land of Rain. I have come to you with the intention of seeking to strengthen the possibility of cooperation between you and us. I know that our high knowledge of poison production, medicines, and our military strength can be valuable resources for cooperation that would benefit us both. I also bring you this scroll." Sayaka quickly moved the scroll that bore the clan seal closer to the seventh hokokage."This scroll bears the mark of our clan and is an expression of my interest in working together. Please accept it as a gesture of my commitment."

He points with his palm to the scroll and informatively says. "You will find more information in this scroll than I can tell you." Sayaku has no idea of the contents of the scrolls message, so he eagerly awaits what the Seventh Hogokage will reply.

As he read the letter from Fudou Sashou, the leader of the Sashou Clan, a thoughtful expression crossed his face.

The letter spoke of Sayaku's potential and the significant role he could play in the future of the Land of Rain. It highlighted the importance of his journey to gain experience and wisdom from powerful shinobi, including a visit to Hoshigakure, where he could acquire valuable skills. The letter emphasized that Sayaku was not only a member of the Sashou Clan but also a potential future leader with the capability to shape the destiny of their land.

The Seventh Hogokage took a moment to absorb the message, and then he looked up at Sayaku with a respectful and understanding gaze. "Your grandsire honors me with this letter and choosing Hoshigakure as part of your journey," the Kage spoke sincerely. "The Sashou Clan has long been our village's loyal ally and trusted friend."

He then turned his attention to Sayaku. "Sayaku Sashou, your clan's reputation precedes you. Alliances are serious matters, in this part of the world at least, and working together can benefit our communities.."


"As for your journey, you are welcome to stay and learn in Hoshigakure for as long as you desire," Ayato continued. "We have skilled shinobi and esteemed scholars who can provide you with valuable experiences and knowledge. You will find our village open to sharing what we offer."

The Seventh Hogokage's words were welcoming and filled with a genuine desire to support Sayaku on his journey of growth and learning. So he understood the weight of the decision made by the Sashou Clan and their aspirations for Sayaku's future. Perhaps better than most people would. It was not unlike the path Ayato had walked a decade ago, set by his Hyuuga forefathers.

"As a gesture of our commitment to fostering this alliance, I gladly accept this scroll and consider it an invitation to strengthen our ties further," Ayato said, holding the scroll with reverence. "Let it be known that Hoshigakure stands with the Sashou Clan, and we look forward to a future of mutual support and prosperity."

Sayaku stood before the Seventh Hogokage, Ayato Hyuuga, with a slight tension in his eyes. He knew that this moment was crucial to his future. As the Hogokage accepted the scroll and began to read the contents, Sayaku was filled with anticipation and curiosity as to what his verdict would be. Hogokage's thoughtful expression did not escape Sayaku's attention. When Hogokage finished reading the letter, Sayaku watched his face carefully, looking for any hint of what he was thinking.

Hogokage's eyes were like the surface of a calm lake, and yet Sayaku saw a subtle reflection of curiosity and respect in them. As Hogokage read the contents of the scroll, Sayaku's heart beat even faster. When Kage tore his eyes away from the scroll and finally looked back at Sayaka, the latter felt a slight sense of relief. Sayaku's heart quietly calmed as he listened intently to Kage's words. The Seventh Hogokage's words were welcome and filled with a genuine desire to support Sayaka on his journey of growth and learning.

So he understood the weight of the decision the Sashou clan had made, and their aspirations for Sayaka's future. Sayaku tried to suppress his nervousness. It was an offer he couldn't refuse. It was an opportunity to become stronger, wiser, and gain experience that he could bring back to his clan later. Your words are an honor, Seventh Hogokage," he replied with deep respect. ''I accept this invitation with humility, and I promise to learn and work hard to immediately begin contributing to the development of this village.'' he uttered in a now very calm voice. ''And later, to the benefit of not only the village, but our alliance''.

He felt a great responsibility on his back. But the worst part, which caused him the greatest nervousness, was already behind him. He only needed to say a few small things to the seventh Hokokage that were already informative. ''When the clan gets to know about your warm welcome, I believe they will contribute some money for me to stay here, so know that I won't be left owing anything,'' he added with an informative tone in his voice.
Then he thought for a moment. He was on the cusp of something new, and he wanted to do everything right. Where should he start? Who could show him the way in this vast village where new challenges and opportunities awaited him?

He looked up to the Seventh Hogokage. "Where and with whom do you think I should start?" He asked humbly, seeking guidance for his future path. The Kage was the guide of this village and Sayaku was willing to listen to his guidance.

As Sayaku posed his question to the Seventh Hogokage, Ayato Hyuuga, his humility and earnestness were evident. The Kage appreciated the young ninja's willingness to seek guidance and his dedication to making the most out of the opportunities presented to him.

Ayato leaned back slightly in his chair, his gaze thoughtful as he considered Sayaku's question. "I appreciate your enthusiasm, Sayaku," he began, his voice steady and composed. Hoshigakure has a diverse array of shinobi, each specializing in different fields. "Given your interest in the Sashou Clan's areas of expertise—poisons, medicines, and military strength—I believe your journey can begin by interacting with our Medic-nin."

"That unit is made of skilled healers and experts in medical jutsu, led by Natsuki Hyuuga." the Kage explained. If Sayaku were as bright as he presented himself, he would notice that Natsuki shared the same last name as Ayato. She was his sister, after all, and he was very proud of the younger Hyuuga sibling's accomplishments. "You can learn much from her about the practical applications of medical techniques, poisons, and antidotes."

" Additionally, the bulk of our forces are seasoned warriors who can provide you with combat training and strategic insights. If you start a mission in our village, which you will have clearance for, they might join you and assist. ," Ayato continued. " Our village library also holds a wealth of information on various subjects, including medical jutsu and military strategies. But if books are more to your liking than swords."

The Kage's guidance was delivered with a tone of wisdom and understanding. He recognized Sayaku's journey was about acquiring new skills, building relationships, and forging connections within the village. Each step he took would contribute to his growth as a shinobi and an individual.

"In addition to your training, I encourage you to immerse yourself in the culture and daily life of Hoshigakure," the Kage added. Hoshi held many traditions and festivals that could provide valuable insights into the way of life of those who had recently landed. Understanding the village customs will deepen Sayaku's connection to our community and make him a more effective bridge in this alliance.

Ayato paused for a moment, allowing his words to sink in. "This is the part where I tell you that this journey is not only about gaining strength but also about fostering unity and understanding between our people," he said, his gaze steady. "But I do not doubt that your dedication will not go unnoticed, and you will find support and camaraderie among our shinobi."
