Learning the Threads Empty Learning the Threads

Mission to be Completed:

A job was simple and easy but there were moments that required work for oneself. Today was that type of day as Kurai found herself in a rough predicament that she usually did not encounter. She was being followed and tracked down. Due to the nature of thievery usually most counted for the losses and knew compensation would come in various forms, however today that did not seem to be the case. The stolen item in question was a vase that definitely was valuable but seemed to have an emotional attachment by the previous owner that Kurai snatched it from. Without too much of concern, this was not the first time she had gotten mixed up with others in a more violent way but still rather just avoid the confrontation if possible.

On the run was always something that Kurai had been worried about in a multitude of situations. Today that knack remained true though this time around she had developed more skills at her disposal. The ability to transform her appearance and clone herself allowed for some interesting concepts to work with and her abilities with her Black Threads proved to become more and more versatile and usable in various situations. The first step was to try to pull as many of those following away from her and lose her trail but she knew that running around the outskirts of the Land of Fire would prove useful once they were further away from town. It would not be long before she could set the plan she concocted into action! First thing was first, she needed to get out of town proper and into the woods. First step into the whole process was to just aim straight outward towards the trees, a path would form eventually for her to follow and go down.

Once far enough away from Tanzaku Town, there was not much else for her to worry about other than simply executing the techniques she had picked up. Performing the hand seal, Ram, a second version of herself formed beside her causing confusion among the villagers that had followed her this far. From there the clone diverted and went down another path as Kurai used her back threads to reach up and pull branches down behind herself. This would buy her more time as she could hear the villagers handling that mess before getting back onto her. Since there was some confusion with the clone, she was able to shake off about half the villagers that followed her, leaving her with a measly 3 to worry about and manage for the rest of her plan. "A few more... I can do this." She whispered aloud as she darted ahead.

With the remaining three villagers being men, the Phantom had to plan a method to keep herself hidden while also removing her notable traits of herself. Knowing that the Transformation Technique would be the right call, she had to be weary of activating in front of her pursuers. Continuing in the outskirts of the Land of Fire, the woman known as Kurai found the issue present to be that of obsession rather than justice which angered her. Using her newfound abilities with her Black Threads, she unleashed a handful from her free arm not carrying the vase towards more tree limbs pulling and yanking them down as best as she could while running ahead of the villagers. Eventually with enough distance her black threads formed into a hand forming a hand seal that she once used earlier but now for something different, Ram. Suddenly her body flickered in what little vision the men had as she propelled herself quickly forward and ducked into the tickets out of view.

Finding herself out of sight for a brief moment, she once more formed a hand seal, Dog, to transform, and then from there she lurked behind waiting for the men to rush past her location. Having become a small girl once more, feigning innocence was easy enough for the young woman. As per her nickname, she vanished to the remaining villagers and kept her form transformed for now. It was getting dangerous for her to remain in the Land of Fire for long but she knew she needed to keep the pace up while she could. With vase in hand, she secured the item in question and now it was time to unload it and acquire what she understood was the heart of an old shinobi. A funeral vase being stolen seemed like something someone would gladly let go but it appeared not on this day. Eventually as the night grew and she remained hidden with her new form giving better cover in the brush she found herself in, the villagers turned in for the night, upset vocally and emotionally disturbed.

With no prying eyes, she busted the vase and scattered the remains amongst the forest floor. From the information provided to her, there was likely a note of something that lead to a supply stash of goods and wares that she could benefit from inside. When all that was inside was revealed to initially be just ash she let a heavy sigh fill the space around her. She picked up a shard of the broken vase and tossed it away from her before realizing that the inside of the vase had writing on it, not a note within the ashes of the old shinobi. After consolidating the pieces of the vase into a pile, Kurai made careful not of what pieces where jigsawed back together to figure out what was left behind. The vase consisted of a small map that lead to what Kurai believed was a stash but would later find out would be a black market location. What a good turn of events and apparently they have bundles for sale. All in a good days work for the young kunoichi. Little did she knew this was a simple test that others on the wrong side of law and order put forth to see if people were worthy to get into the market.
