Young Dog New Tricks!

Zainketsu was back at the training field again. it was starting to feel like he lived here. Realistically he probably spent more time here then he did at hi actual home. It was getting to the point where he should probably just set up a cot so he did not have to go home when he was done. Today he had a goal in mind to learn the coiling dragon technique. It was a lightning based technique that was as much defensive as it was offensive. Lord knows the young Uchiha could use some improved defensive capabilities. He was definitely lacking in them at the moment.

Alright lets see, the handseals are Tiger, Monkey, boar, then dragon!

Zainketsu ran through the seals repeatedly in his head until he was certain he had them memorized and did not need to think about them. It wasn't that har considering there was only four of them. He practiced them for a good hour without molding chakra just to get used to how they feel. After he felt confident he began molding his chakra to go along with the seals. It was harder then he thought. He was still getting used to the lightning element. He could feel the chakra pulsing and crackling over his skin as he tried to let the jutsu envelope him. It was definitely a far cry off from being a raging dragon. He doubted that the electricity even had enough juice in it to stall the weakest of ninja. Frustrated he kept practicing over and over again.

As the day went by his body began to grow numb and tingly from all the  electricity that had been coursing through him. He had not gotten any closer to mastering the jutsu. The closest he got was a thin coat of electricity that could hardly be considered a cloak and was nowhere near complete enough to take into battle. The young boy huffed and puffed as he mentally tried to figure out what he was doing wrong. The handseals were perfect, it had to be an issue with the way he molded his chakra. The small statured Uchiha was starting to get frustrated and discouraged though he was determined to not give up. There was too much riding on these upcoming exams to come in unprepared. Even if he had to spend every minute out here he would keep trying until he could perform the jutsu as effortlessly as breathing.

Stupid lightning jutsu! I refuse to get defeated by something like this! I WILL master this jutsu!

His will and resolve carried him through practice late into the night. He had made some progress though not as much as he would like. He got the cloak part down but his control over the electricity produced a very feeble looking dragon. At least it was slowly starting to come together though. Now that he had the basics down it was just a matter of repetition until he would get it down. His body trembled from the chakra exertion but he tried again for what felt like the ten thousandth time today. He really focused on his control. It took a level of  control he did not know he had but finally he was able to produce a majestic looking dragon of electricity around his body. It completly encompassed the young genins entire body. He grinned with an earned sense of accomplishment while the lightning crackled and exploded all around him.

Well thats a good start but its not done yet. The scroll i read said ninja are capable of multiple dragons at the same time and that they can control the dragons actual movements. I've still got a long way to go until i get to that point. I guess ill call it a night and pick up again in the morning.

The young Uchiha hufffed and puffed to himself as his legs trembled from exhaustion. It had been a long day and all the lights had vanished from the training field. He didnt know what time it was but it had to be close to morning. The young genin laid down on the field and began staring out at the starlit sky. His crimson eyes darted from star to star as he tried to calm his mind enough to fall asleep. He was incredibly tired so that part was not much of  challenge. He could have gone home but he figured he would save himself the trip since he was going to have to drag himself back in a couple hours. With a big yawn Zainketsu drifted off into a dreamless state.

When he awoke it was to the sounds of birds chirping. The sun was already brightly overhead. The small statured boy was a little disheartened that he had slept in. Usually he was up before the sun but not today. He must have been much more tired then he realized. After his morning stretches he went straight into training again. It took a time or two until his lightning dragon got to the size and shape he  felt comfortable taking into battle. Now that he got the size and chakra manipulation down it was all about control. He practiced moving the dragon from side. The giant lightning construct that covered him like a hield was not very graceful. It took all his focus and control just to get it to be able to change directions. The entire morning was spent just practicing the most basic of maneuvers. Even something as simple as getting the dragon to bite down with its electric mouth was taxing on his mental fortitude. It felt like one of those techniques he could spend a life time working on and it still wouldn't be as perfect as he would like. There would always be room to improve upon it.

As the day rolled on his control drastically began to improve. He was able to control the dragon virtually telepathically with just a thought. As his control grew the dragon appeared to be more and more alive. He practiced having the dragon bite down on the nearby training dummies. Zainkeetsu would jump around as he did this to simulate a real life fight to the best of his ability. He carried on this way well into the night again. He made good progress today but it was not nearly the amount he was hoping for. He still was only able to produce one head from the dragon. So for the second night in a row he foundhimself staring up at the stars he forced himself to sleep. Tonight was much more difficult getting to bed then the night before. Every one of his muscles was twitching and spasming from all the electricity that had been pumping through his body. His fingers and toes tingled and his heartbeat felt much quicker then usual. Eventually though he was able to lull himself into a psuedo state of sleep.

He woke earlier the next day and went straight back to work for the third day straight. He needed to master this jutsu today no matter what the cost. The young genin was running out of time and there was still so much work that needed to be done, every second mattered. He worked harder then ever today. Now that he had both the shape and nature manipulation down it was time to work on raw power and multiplying the number of dragon heads that he could produce from his lightning cloak. He started by making a second dragon head emerge. This was way more difficult then he had believed it would be. After a dozen attempts he was finally able to sustain two dragons at once. Even though he could make two he was not able to control two. Getting them to move independently was a monumental ask. It was like trying to force somebody to lookin two different directions at the exact same time. The focus it took was extreme. Whenever his attention would waver in the slightest he would lose control of the entire jutsu.

Ugh...This is fucking impossible! How do people do this? I just dont understand! Why cant i get this right?

Zainketsu was discouraged but he refused to give up. Like a man possesed he just tried again time after time. It was a long day but he finally got to the point where he could make the two dragons move independently. Now that he could control two dragons and felt comfortable he tried to move up to three. He felt confident that he could battle as is with this jutsu but wanted to push himself to the limits of the jutsu in case he had to hit multiple targets all in one go. Two dragons were tough to control but three was insane. The sun had started to set again and he still was a far cry away from being where he needed to be.  Everything on him hurt at this point. Just standing was turning into a challenge. Still he carried in with a youthful determination. The young Uchiha did not stop for bedtime tonight. Instead he pushed himself through the entire night. His efforts paid off, by the time the sun rose he was fully capable of making three dragons and having them all move simultaneously. It was an impressive feat. He still had a ways to go before he could call this jutsu mastered but he felt like he had amazing progress. He felt like this jutsu was either as strong or potentially even stronger then his lightning clones.

When the sun rose for the third time Zain was completely spent. His legs quivered as he tried to drag himself from the training field to his home. He was so tired he could barely keep his eyes open. Every part of his body hurt. He felt like he had just come out of fight to the death and he wasn't sure if he could call himself the winner. It had been a while since he pushed himself for so long during a training exercise. He was very proud of himself though. He now had a new tool in his arsenal. He was confident that it would come in handy for the exams and beyond. He was going to sleep good today of that he was confident!
