Team Nisshoku Meets!
Sun Nov 12, 2023 9:13 am
Rekka had answered the call... The old man was picking up where his grandson had failed and left off, paying off the debt he owes to Konohagakure, Rekka was repaying the debt in more ways than just the Ryo, he was taking his teachings he put throughout the Meijin clan in Konohagakure and applying it to the new generation, their soft ways agitated him greatly and it was time to make a harder team of Shinobi than there has been in the past years that Rekka had watch to grow. He was assigned a team to lead and Rekka sent out messenger crows to each member with a letter summoning them to the training grounds. The old man used a cane and he stood in the middle of the grounds, watching and waiting, hunched and leaned on the cane. only seemingly on the shorter side of average height. Little was known that Rekka actually stood much higher traditionally.
The Old Man would watch the sun to tell the time, such an old method of doing such, but he new the suns placement and time like the back of his hand. Age had its perks that was for certain. The balding man with a long white beard standing in the training grounds, seemed unassuming. Rekka gave the team a certain time to be there, and it was different for each, he wanted to see which would be reckless and which would be responsible, and those who liked to skirt the system just barely.
The Old Man knew what was going to happen here, but he gave no idea to those in his squad, did not even tell them who was their team mates, this would be a surprise to all but Rekka

Jiro lay sprawled out on the floor in his bedroom - well, half in his bedroom, as his top half was sticking out onto the wooden porch outside his door, his hands laced behind his head as he lazily watched the clouds roll by through the gaps in the beams. He thought one rather looked like a squished pumpkin, and that was the most interesting thing he'd seen all morning. He didn't particularly have a plan for his day. He'd probably take a walk by the river later, and if he felt like it he might do some training. The thought of it drew his attention away from the clouds, and he frowned quietly. The Chuunin Exams were nearing, and he still wasn't sure he was ready. 'What would they want with a guy like me for Chuunin anyway,' he thought listlessly. He grumbled a sigh, moving one of his forearms to cover his eyes. What a pain.
Just then, a large crow flew by and perched just near his elbow, causing Jiro to quickly to move his arm to look at the hooked claws that were gripping his skin. Upon closer observation, the crow had a message scroll attached to its foot. The Nara's brow twitched skeptically, and he eyed the bird as he reached to gingerly remove the scroll from its fastenings, rolling it open to read it. ".. Meet at the training facility... noon?" He glanced into the sky, shielding his eyes while he found the position of the sun. It was already eleven or so in the morning. The sign-off on the message wasn't anybody he recognized, either. Frowning, he stashed the message in his pocket, waving the bird away before crawling into his room and curling up on his futon. Whoever they were, they could wait a minute.
As it happened, his short lie down turned into a proper nap, and he woke 45 minutes later, bleary eyed with a spot of drool on his chin. He rolled over and stretched slowly, groaning when he remembered he had somewhere to be. With a wide yawn, he got up and grabbed his pack of ninja tools, walking leisurely across his porch and sliding his sandals onto his feet before setting off into town.
It took him about twenty minutes to get to the training facility, and as he walked in he took a cursory glance around. The only person that really stood out was a strange old man, standing in the middle of the grounds with a cane like he was waiting for someone. Scratching the back of his head skeptically, Jiro approached the old timer. "Yo, jii-jii," he called out, pulling the note out of his pocket and holding it up. "You the one that sent this?"

The old man had closed his eyes, listening to the world around him. After waiting some time, only one person approached. That alone irritated the old shinobi. the younger one addressed him in a manner that made him open his eyes and look to the side spitting a little as he said the word 'Disrespectful' under his breath. Than the old man would lift the cane and tap the ground hard with the part that was in contact with it just previously and he would loudly announce as if he spoke with another older person " I am Rekka Meijin, put in charge of you hooligans, it would seem the others deemed not to even show up, disgraceful and you all call yourselves Shinobi, Do not worry, we will fix that in short order " And with that Rekka would would continue to stand where he was and nodded to the kid as if a silent signal to start.
Rekka wanted to test his students and see what they were capable of, however, with the other two missing, he could only do so much at this time. he would work with them one at a time if he so had to. He made mental note to inform the kage of their tardiness to their meeting and training session that Rekka took the time of day to arrange for them. he would watch the youngster for signs of movement, anything that informed him of the start of their little tussle.

Jiro raised an eyebrow at the old man skeptically, crossing his arms. "Put in charge? What do you mean, the others, who else are you waiting for?" He took a moment to mull it over, not wanting to jump to any conclusions. After all, no one had told him anything about being assigned a team or a sensei. He would think something like that would have been communicated at some point. But then again, sometimes things happened in the current administration that went against expectations. Jiro sighed slowly, rubbing his neck and stretching it out a bit. "Right... so what, are you here to train me or something?" The old man just stared at him, giving him a silent nod. But he didn't say anything further, or make any sort of move. Jiro just stared back at him, his eyebrow twitching slightly with a flat expression. "Okay... so..... what are you waiting around for?" More crickets. Huffing slightly, Jiro's feet shifted, muttering, "Alright, old man... looks like words aren't your thing."
In the next instant, Jiro was closing the 2 meter distance between them at 100 speed, dropping his leg into a sweep that attempted to knock the old man's legs out from under him (90 power, 100 speed). If Rekka didn't manage to evade, he would find himself flat on his back and disoriented, with both his Vigor and Speed being debuffed by 30 points for three posts. If this man was to be his sensei, he should be able to handle anything Jiro could throw at him, right?

The old mans unwaivering eyes, watching the movements, he would take a step back as the kid moved forward the two meters, and when he went for a leg sweep against just a singular leg, Rekka would simply lift his leg up over that of the kids, the other leg having already stepped out of reach, and than Rekka would launch his foot he lifted up forward at full speed, aiming to kick the boy right in the chest, It may not hurt much, but it would do to show the boy that speed alone would not win him this fight, that while Rekka may be a old man, a grandpa at that even, he was not a trifle nor was speed going to be an issue for him.
His wisdom from the years of experience and being alive would grant him the remained of the knowledge of would need to already know that he himself will need more than speed as well, and his strength was far from up there, but he wondered just what this boy could accomplish if he pushed him far enough. The old man kept his ever peering orbs fixated on the youngster for his next move, ready to utilize his speed once more. Rekka would however not be wielding his weapon so his selection of jutsu techniques would be severely limited for the time being, so he was going solely off of his own physical prowess for this tussle.
Rekka would step back into his stance and straightening himself up just a bit after the kick if the boy was indeed sent sprawling away. Staring down the youngster.
