Genin exam : A passage to independance!

After giving her demonstration in front of Nokino in that room Tenko was told to wait back in the main room with the rest of the students and unlike her classmates, she wasn’t worried she was quite relaxed in fact maintaining a calm and measured composure among a sea of worried faces and nervous chatter, even Cho and Kiryu looked uneasy despite being in the top three students.

Seeing that it was taking a while for the teachers to come to their decision Tenko pulled her Tessen from her back and placed it on the desk with a loud thud, she reached into the red sash around her waist and retrieved a white cloth and began wiping the black spine of her weapon, there was nothing else to do but wait so she might as well keep herself occupied and clean her weapon… not that it needed much cleaning.

She only stopped once she noticed some smoke appear in front of the room which then turned into Nokino who was now standing on top of the teacher's desk in a superhero pose for some reason. The Iburi teacher gained the attention of the class by yelling loudly as usual, she held a wooden pad in her hand and started listing off the names of students and whether or not they passed.

As expected there were a lot more fails than passes as the threshold for passing was very high after all you are training to become soldiers and you can’t have an average person in your military unless you are desperate for bodies so to pass you have to show something special. After the 19th name was called Nokino paused for a second she looked around the room for a moment before calling the next name.

The next name was Tenko Sarutobi, there was another pause before Nokino said the words every student in that room wanted to hear following their own name “ PASSED! ” holding up the Konoha headband all leaf nin must wear while on duty Nokino waited for Tenko to approach and retrieve it.

Tenko stood up tucking her Tessen under her arm and strolled to the front of the class making sure to throw her weapon onto her back before reaching the teacher. She looked down at the headband with her usual still expression before a small smile spread across her face as she took the coveted headband from her sensei then looking at the Iburi ninja “ Thank you Sensei, I won’t disappoint the faith you have shown in me. “ she graciously said before raising the headband to her head and tying it around her forehead letting her front bangs hand down over the cloth but keeping the metal place with the leaf symbol on full display.

She bowed to her teacher and to the entire class before taking her leave from the room. Once outside she walked the halls until she reached a spot where she was alone she would then lean against the wall letting the back of her head bump the wall as she looked up at the ceiling, she’d then start to slide down the wall until she was sitting on the floor still looking up before finally saying softly “ I did it mama. “ she shed a single tear before burying her head in her arms until she heard footsteps after which she quickly composed herself and vanished before anyone could see her.
