This year's build-a-ninja workshop is going great, passing the half-way mark through the studies. It’s time to put theories to a test and perform an assasination on a high valued target! Albeit it’s a water filled balloon strapped to the back of a Sensei.

Each team is given a description of a Sensei, they must track down and destroy the target by any means within 24 hours, you may die or worse - be expelled!

The educator expressed a lack of amusement towards the efforts of their pupils, who made semi-professional attempts at taking a life. The group of students enthusiastically undertook the assignment of targeting and puncturing the water container affixed to his body. After much hardship, the meal was a fitting reward, though it felt like the culmination of nurturing a group that ultimately turned on him."Poetic justice." The cogs in her mind started to click and clack as Nix realised that although the numbers were against the teacher, he was at no one's mercy. After absconding from the impromptu ambush, the teacher led the cavalry of the remaining classmates. The efficacy of the teacher's evasion tactics diminished when Nix opted for the high ground and started to command and manoeuvre the other students. Nix quickly realised early during the assignment that she had nothing unique in her skill set to defeat a fully-fledged ninja. Despite her impressive, unencumbered speed, she humbly admitted defeat in trying to puncture the water bag at the nearest convenience.

When the teacher queried Nix, She evaluated the task: "I cannot assassinate the water bag unless you're completely distracted or unconscious." The teacher affirmed that she had made the right decision with a silent nod. " I apologise, but only one can pass this test, even if we work together. " The academy student pled the class' case, conversationally rather than despondently, "This test, for the average student, is more demanding than the actual Genin exam, and it's halfway through the curriculum. " Despite the other culling tests, this one seemed to merit some scepticism, and Nix appraised it thus, " If you only wanted to train one student for the other half of the year, you wouldn't have rewarded us with this goose chase." Her classmates may have made more diplomatic or earnest attempts at puncturing the water bag. But, still, Nix allowed her acknowledgement of her inability to precede the enthusiasm to attempt a task that she knew to be insurmountable. She enjoyed the company of people trying to inspire and teach her; unlike the chorus of uneducated sycophants still trying to chase a clone, they offered material wisdom. Nix asked, "May I inquire about the steps I should take in the future to triumph in similar circumstances?" The teacher replied, "You're doing fine, Nix. Better than some of the others. " Nix appraised his affirmations considerately, listening intently to him as he continued, " While you are permitted to continue your tutelage at the academy, you will need to develop a more diverse skill set to succeed in the future, Nix. "

Sacrificing her pride accomplished more than she imagined; the following day, the teacher gave Nix and her remaining classmates half a year's tuition. It was a realistic sum of ryo that simulated the stipend of a successful career as a shinobi. Many of her classmates spent their money on weapons or utilities, things that would ultimately make them more efficient ninjas. Nix patiently bided her time and spent the other half of the school year sketching designs for weapons that didn't yet exist.
