She nodded along as Kui described his vision for their hideout, how they needed to be underground with the entrance obscured from sight or so far out of the way it would be nigh impossible for someone to accidentally stumble upon it. It made sense that their first base of operations needed to be discreet and secluded in order to keep them safe from the harms of the outside world while they were still collecting their bearings after having to flee from their home.

Sakura’s eyes glistened as her twin read her mind and answered her silent plea, throwing a ripe banana her way that she easily caught between her hands. She smiled softly as she peeled the fruit and began to eat it, elated that Kui had in fact heard her request despite pretending otherwise.

The boys munched down on their sugary breakfasts while perusing the sketches laid out upon the wooden desk, giving the petite woman compliments and suggestions as they flipped through the pages. She bit back a grin as Kui said good job to her, pride swelling in her chest at the approval from him. Getting recognition from him or their mother was a true testament of success, as neither of them gave out encouragement half heartedly. Sakura regained her composure as they began discussing the amenities needed and how they would go about equipping their base with them, such as running water and a ventilation system.

Sho piped up in response to her inquiry about the man who would provide them the wood for their base, informing the duo that Heiji would be able to give them a reasonable deal. He seemed to hold the man in high regard, at least enough to believe he wouldn’t try to rip them off despite their age. Many shopkeepers would jump at the opportunity to take advantage of the naivety of children and raise the prices on their wares in order to earn a few extra ryo off the unsuspecting youth.

“I think it might be a good idea to go with the option of purchasing a rundown building, renovating it, and adding in a hidden entrance to our actual hideout underneath the place.” Sakura pondered aloud, tapping her fingers on her crossed arms. She could see the benefits to both avenues as well as the different cons they possessed, but it was not easy to determine which one out weighed the other in this situation. Having an abandoned building would help them not seem suspicious in the village, yet it would give away their location, leaving them wide open for anyone to find them. If they used a cave on the outskirts of the city it would be more secluded and hidden, yet could raise suspicions with the villagers if they constantly saw them coming and going from town with supplies. “That way the villagers would be less weary of us coming and going, and since we are spending quite a bit of ryo here they will probably leave us alone.”

She walked into the small kitchen adjoined to the living room and threw away the now empty banana peel before getting a glass of water, not realizing until now she had become quite parched during their discussion. With the glass in hand she rejoined the two boys, listening as they responded to her thoughts. Once they were finished talking, even if they hadn’t come to a consensus yet, the blunette’s voice would ring out through the room, “We should probably go look around while the sun is still out, that way we have a better idea of the area we will be building in and can measure out the materials properly.” She would set the cup of water down and collect her bag from the desk, stuffing some pencils, sketches, blank paper, and her wallet inside before slinging it across her chest and heading towards the door, gesturing for the two to follow her on their next adventure.
