Chapter1 The Land of Lightning; The Heavenly Gates

Benjiro began to walk away and into the village after his allowed entry, but stopped and paused. He looked up at the beautiful gates of the village with awe. He took out his large sketching pad and grabbed a fine tipped pencil. He stood where he was, not wanting to lose the light or angle of the view he had before him. With small deft movements, Benjiros hand glided across the sketching pad, forming the initial shape of his vision. He made large and powerful strokes for the cascading stone that loomed overhead and for the gates. He made fine and light strokes for the small intricate carvings of the two thunderbirds that judged from atop their perches. It took him the better part of an hour, at the end Benjiro had a complete sketch of the Heavenly Gates in all their splendor. The light rays falling from above and alighting the two thunderbirds in golden light, giving a heavenly glowing effect to the two stone carvings. He emphasized the grandeur and size of the place by placing a small silhouette of Benjiro himself, staring up at the enormous gates with the equally grand skybridge to his back. The empty valley to either side emphasized the enormous landscaping that had been done.

He put his sketch pad away for the time being and pulled his writing journal out, continuing on the next page after his initial writing, he methodically dated and documented where he was.

I have found the village of Kumogakure, it was no easy task, requiring an arduous and winding journey. The view of the gates alone, however, was worth the travel. The Heavenly Gate of Kumogakure is an imposing and grand structure. Even more grand is its excavation, requiring a trek across an intimidating skybridge that leads to a large platform. No doubt the village of Kumogakure is formidable with designs such as these.

Upon entering Kumogakure one is immediately made aware of the strong and judgmental gaze of two finely carved thunderbirds that loom above the gate entrance. It is fitting for a place and land such as this, I can already tell this is a place that breeds strength. And I look forward to meeting the stalwart people this land has produced.

With a flourish of his signature he ended his entry into his journal. Looking up and around into the village before him, he sought to find a small restaurant or tea house to parch his thirst. Happening upon an interesting bar by the name of The Drunken Kage Bar. He looked around to make sure he wasn't breaking any rules by entering but seemed to notice a host of ninja going in and out. Some seemed to be coming back from assignment, some were looking to just be readying to leave. Benjiro noticed another building nearby, seeing that it was the mission building he nodded in understanding. Perhaps this was just the place he needed to be to learn and understand Kumogakure.
