A Wolf Among Pups

As the cool autumn breeze whipped through the school yard, two imposing figures stood on the steps of the academy not saying a word yet an unheard conversation followed. "Tōga, Are you sure it is a wise use of time to be here playing with the village children?" Tōga directed his golden eyes down to waist height, looking at the massive white wolf as he responded. Continuing through telepathy, "Okami, it's perfect. A nice easy day. Plus we help the youth, they need to learn to do better than our forgotten clan." Okami huffs physically as they begin ascending the stairs to the front door, being greeted before arriving as the door opens showing a young instructor. After a few moments of interacting with each other Tōga was directed to the fields out back of the school, he was instructed he had an hour to prepare before the first year students would make their way outside to begin their exercise.

Standing in the outdoor field, Tōga's white hair danced in the breeze as he placed the bases in their diagonal pattern. Okami held a brush in his mouth as he drew white lines, creating the detailed functionality of an adequate baseball field. Their telepathy connecting again as they talked about their own respective rules for the game, "Okami, I believe you should be the umpire. If a stray ball were to fly at a student you could move them from harm. Agreed" Okami dropped the brush back into its respective location, turning to Tōga and nodding as he responded "Agreed, I believe you should stand to the side as a coach should." As they finished on the preparations for the sport, the children began to pour from the academy doors.

The students gathered on one of the lines, standing between home and first base as Tōga looked out at them with a smile as he spoke in his calm and gentle way. "Hello Children, Split yourselves into 2 groups." The children done as instructed, Tōga began picking the team for batting and which team would be the outfield. Once selected the children took their places, the first kid to reach home base was slightly distracted by the massive white wolf standing behind him. Okami would allow each child to scratch his head before they went up to bat, the day seemed to go pretty well. A few runs, but so far they had yet to get a scoring run. As the final batter came up to home plate, the pitcher, determined to continue his streak of strikes, gripped the ball tightly as he watched the batter rest the bat on his shoulder and motioned for his readiness. As the pitcher launched the ball, tripping slightly caused the ball to curve unintentionally, Tōga looked at the trajectory realizing it would hit the batter in the bridge of the nose. He got ready to dart towards the ball in order to intercept, when Okami jumped up over the batter using his ability to 'Sky Walk' allowing him to quickly put himself between batter and ball. The sound of the impact as Okami's jaws snapped on to the baseball, its sudden stop enough to make the entire field go completely silent.

The doors of the Academy opened and the previous instructor stepped forward beckoning the children, each patting Okami and thanking Tōga as they returned to their studies. The two looked at each other, walking up to the instructor who placed the payment in his hand thanking him. Now heading back to his normal routine along with Okami.
