Painting Fences [D-Rank Mission]
Tue Apr 10, 2012 11:37 pm
The weight of the paint can felt like it was nothing in Kankuro’s hands. Walking towards the colorless fence, he recalls the mission he’d been sent on. He had only one day to repaint an elder’s fence for them. The task should have been a simple one, but it would be without a doubt a boring one. He sighed softly to himself as while setting the cans of paint on the ground beside his feet. He slowly began his decent into boredom and leans down. Picking up one of the two brushes that had been provided for him, an idea popped into his mind. Maybe there was a way for him to make the menial task a tad bit more interesting.
If he could somehow make this into a game or some sort of training session, then maybe the time would pass by quicker. The idea was at least worth a shot.
“Alright, here’s the goal,” he stated to himself while dipping the end of his brush into the open white paint. “I have an hour to paint the first coat of the fence. If I don’t, no dates for the next week.”
The thought of not living up to his own bets ran through his mind as he brought brush up.
“I can’t lose my girls!”
Yelling to motivate himself as he suddenly began painting, Kankuro started off with an extremely fast pace. Though he worked at such a blazing speed, he wasn’t one to slack off in any sort of task. Each and every spot on the fence’s posts were covered in the new paint after he went over it. His brush continued to move with fluid motion as he moved down the fence. True to his word, the ninja worked at a pace that would appear to allow him to reach his goal. The first hour flew by quickly. By then Kankuro had already started his wait for the fresh paint to dry.
“Man, this is so boring… I could be doing some real training back in the mountains. This bites…”
The elder came out to speak with him, telling him tell of when she was a young ninja just before he got to work on the second coat. The second coat actually ended up taking a lot less time than expected. He knew he was getting faster when he was finished 35 minutes after he’d started. A smile of satisfaction grew over his lips while looking over his work. The woman gave him a nod of satisfaction. He knew he’d done a good job.
