Modernizing the world (Closed;Mission)
Thu Apr 12, 2012 6:06 pm
Hiro was called to the somewhat remote snow village, he was
confronted by a group of ground excavators because they have reason believe
that they have found some old Snow Village technology built before the
supervolcano, they say that the ash from the Supervolcano eruption covered the
technology in ash, before the ground was fertilized and vegetation grew over
it, Hiro was always fascinated by Snow Village technology, as he heard legends
from Leaf Village shinobi that they had incredible machines of war, including
some that could propel themselves through the air, which would be considered
whichcraft in modern times. He considered this to be the opportunity of a
lifetime. He being a Kanda, he was always interested in industrial works,
something that was incredibly uncommon in the modern ninja world, as when
things were crafted, there were usually crafted by hand, and the citizens of
the villages didn’t need many modern technologies, if anything most of the
citizens had refridgerators as their most revolutionary product, and that has
been around for longer than 100 years now, and Hiro figured it’d be time to
change the face of civilian life and change the face of the battlefield,
besides, he was going to take over what was now the Igloo village and return its’
former glory, of course he wouldn’t tell the excavators that, as he made a
promise to not use these technologies in the battlefield. That he wouldn’t do.
But he would inspire from these technologies and use objects that he WILL use
on the battlefield. As these were potentially life changing inventions that have
gone missing as time went by, and not only would they change transportation,
they would change warfare. Since the snow village was on a mountaintop, there
was hardly any vegetation, and the only way of getting supplies was by convoy,
and convoys were often attacked by bandits and stolen, delivering supplies by
air saves time, lives and money, as Bandits won’t know how to strike them down.
As for a train, well, a train was made of steel, and as we all know steel is
very strong, derailing a train is a very delicate affair, and most bandits
haven’t seen a train before, let alone have the intelligence to derail it, this
would make the rather famished citizens of the Igloo village much better
nourished, and the offer of a better way of life would definately make their
trust for Hiro grow. But there was no time to dream about the future, he had to
find these contraptions and unearth them from their prison of soil and ash.
The excavators told him that the relics were to the
southeast somewhere, Hiro used his bloodline, which allowed him to detect
various kinds of metals in the vicinity around him, he hoped that the
contraptions wouldn’t be too submerged as to not show up on his radar, but it
usually worked well for metals buried in the ground, so it could just be that
he was looking in the wrong area, he decided to look to the east a bit more,
but that was near a forest, which begged the question of how trees could grow
with a giant steel construction below it, that was definately out of the
question, however he did feel a disturbance in the ground in that area,
unfortunately he could not tell the dimensions of the object he was sensing due
to the roots of the trees, so it could simply be something like a bottlecap,
but since he was above where Yukigakure used to be, it would be something of
interest nonetheless, he used the Hades’ Curse technique to turn his hand into
a shovel of sorts, digging the tip of it into the ground before pulling out,
repeating the process many times to hopefully find something of interest, he
heard a metallic clang as the shovel hit some metallic object, he lifted his
hand, pulling the object out of the ground, it was a black box, literally, a
black box. What was this contraption ? He could hardly tell as it was
covered in dirt. He smeared most of the ash and mud mixture off of the box to
reveal some dials and a gauge. He pressed what looked like a big green circle
and a voice emitted out of the box, it just sounded like « Mayday !
Mayday !, Airship going down, repeat ! We are going down !
co-ordinates 50. Width 89.Long ! » But he could hardly tell, the
speaker on this thing must’ve been caked in mud and other grime. This was
interesting, what this looked like, was a radio component slapped onto a memory
device and a speaker to record the last words and information on the imminent
crash of the airship and it’s crew. This box was probably used for information
back to base, he didn’t know how old this technology was, but from how long the
batteries lasted, it was definately innovative, he wasn’t aware this existed in
present day in the Snow Village, but as there were no longer any aircraft of
any sort, it was obvious that even if they did there would be no use for it. He
didn’t know if the information that the distressed engineer was barking were the
co-ordinates of where they were going to crash, or where they were flying, but
either way this box helped him quite a lot. He opened the sack he was given to
salvage parts and he chucked the box into it, he’d dismantle it later to see
just what this machine was composed of and hopefully market it to other nations
and use it for bases to salvage information. He could even compact it further
and use it as a reconaissance device to listen in on conversations,
possibilities were endless with this sort of machine, so salvaging it was
definately a wise choice, he continued to advance, he couldn’t really see
anything that gave away any particular presence of any object due to the snow,
he looked around, the trees were really becoming a pain, and due to him not
being able to sense anything else, it seems that the box must’ve fallen out of
its’ compartment near the crash and landed where he found it, which may have
just made the search far more difficult, not that it would be easy in the first
place, the mountainous region of the Igloo village encompassed hundreds of
kilometers, he was simply following the excavator’s co-ordinates. He approached
the end of the vegitative area which he was navigating, and the metal sensor in
his body was going insane, something must have been below him, he molded his
hand into the same shovel and punctured the ground with it, proceeding to pull
the dirt away, he continued to do this, this was quickly becoming tedious, it
seemed that the damn thing was pretty well embedded into the ground, and was
pretty deep, he would definately be digging for quite a bit before he could
discover what the hell he was digging up, he heard a loud metallic clang as he
hit something hard, reforming his hand to wipe off the soil, he saw nothing but
rusted steel with a few words written on it, he deciphered them a « Hellfire
Kunai Launcher No.3 » He looked rather perplexed, a Kunai launcher ?
This was strange, Hiro never knew that the Snow village used their creations in
a military role, nor that a kunai launcher actually existed.
He pushed away a lot of the soil covering the large steel
construction, it was a box shape, as the ground was deeper at a certain length.
He proceeded to excavate the deeper areas, and the box was unearthed, he
noticed that the box was linked to something, he used his Kinzoku Souran to
lift the link off and pull the box upright, he noticed that it was wheeled, but
the wheels had no tires and was hollow at the center of the rim. It must’ve
been a train carriage. He noticed a handle at the back of the box, pulling it,
stepping back instantly as a load of kunai poured out of it, it appeared to
have a lot of individual boxes where the kunai were loaded before being fired
at the enemy, this was quite the discovery, Allen marveled at this creation.
However he had no idea how this thing worked, or how you fired it, he figured
the controls for the thing would’ve been either at the side, if not it’d be in
a different carriage. On the side of the box there was another smaller box,
Hiro placed the palm of his hand against it and wiped it off, revealing a
transparent pane of glass with a seat behind it. This must’ve been where the
co-ordinates were punched in and where the machine was fired, he pulled on a handle at the side, opening
the compartment up. He took a seat inside it, he noticed on the panes of glass
that a vertical line was drawn against the center of the glass with a few
horizontal ones every millimeter with the angle of the weapon marked next to
it, this must’ve been the system used to know the angle of which the weapon
would currently be firing at, this was likely used for accurate fire on the
enemy without wasting to many kunai. He looked to his left and saw a lever with
a red knob, he pulled it, but a large thud emitted, this probably meant that it
was out of ammunition and needed to have its’ payload refilled. He would test
if this thing worked later on, there was no time for fooling around with this
thing before he unearthed the other carriages, as he didn’t know how many there
were, or how far away the carriages were from eachother, but he removed the
linking gear from the carriage he just unearthed, so there must’ve been another
carriage right next to him, so he proceeded to dig around the area of that
carriage, slowly and steadily hoisting it out with the help of his bloodline
ability. It was simply a red box on train wheels, must have been something like
cargo. He forced open the sliding doors and a lot of coal poured out, this must’ve
been where they stocked the coal so they could refill the train’s supply to
keep it moving without having to stop at a particular location. This said this
now gave him a clue on what this train actually ran on, he couldn’t sense any
other metallic objects in the vicinity, so the other carriages must’ve been somewhere
else, he definately needed to find the engine itself, as he desperately needed
to see just how this contraption worked, but how were the carriages so far away
from each other ? The only logical answer would be that the train had
derailed, and the carriages broken apart. He walked over to the south a bit, as
he felt the presence of a large amount of metal, an AWFUL lot of metal, surely
this must have been the lead carriage with the engine, as it had a lot of metal
inside, he proceeded to shovel into the ground and dig up the large metal
construction, after a good ten minutes the contrapion was unearthed, he pulled
it out of the earth and carefully placed it on the metal tracks, my god what a
machine this was, it certainly looked robust, it was most likely armored to
protect the crew from any attacks. This was most likely a train used for war
rather than for freight, due to its’ bulky construction and its’ offensive
armament. But either way it could be used as a base for a freight train, which
would be the first thing Hiro would do, as more supplies needed to be given to
the now underdeveloped village of Yukigakure. He first had to think of an
applicable route however. He knew that the plains below the mountains were plentiful
with vegetation, there was what looked like rice and some berries, and it was
possible for livestock to grow there, it’d usually take a matter of hours or
even days to cart things up through there, with the freight route it’d simply
take a matter of minutes to bring a vast supply of nourishment to the village,
as simply using beasts of burden was a task that was far too demanding. As
trains never get tired, hungry, bored or thirsty. And driving one was relatively
simple. But first he needed to get the thing to run, he scooped up some coal
and threw it into the engine, pushing his fire chakra into it and lighting it,
shutting the door of the steam engine, it looked like it was beginning to
start.
He manipulated the two train carriages to hook up to each
other, and then hook onto the back of the engine, before long the train set
off, and stopped a few feet after, as he only used a bit of coal, but he was
happy that the machine actually worked, and now he was going to go off and unearth
the rest of the carriages, he made his way to the west of the forest, where he
felt a large signature of metal, after a good 20 minutes of furious excavating,
he uncovered three carriages, but these were different, these had seats in
them, these were most likely used for deploying Yukigakure shinobi into the
battlefield, but with the right modifications it could be used to ferry people
from one point of the village to another, which means that the citizens aren’t
obliged to trek down the mountains in the freezing cold temperature, and this
can also be used to deploy troops close to certain areas of the battlefield
should this technology be used, but he found the former use much more useful in
order to keep the citizens happy. Having a train which could defend itself from
bandits, transport cargo and transport citizens all at once, this basically
gave it security, practicality and comfort all at once, knowing that in the
carriage ahead of you you have a weapon that can shred people to bits and
induce fear in bandits is incredibly reassuring, Hiro would eventually
construct underground train lines, as there are little to no fears of being
attacked as no one knew where the train was going, he planned on using this to
his advantage.
He filled up the steam engine with coal and lit it, the
train roaring into life as it set off down the tracks, knocking over any ash
that covered the tracks, Hiro was rather scared, as he didn’t know how the
thing worked, he presumed that the more coal you loaded into the engine, the
more power went to the wheels, and he presumed that the red lever was the
brake, and that it should be applied very delicately to avoid locking up the
wheels and potentially derailing the damn thing again, it was incredibly cold
outside, however the heat from the steam engine heated up the cabin rather
well, and it was blazing hot. Hiro sat down on the chair and looked out of the
windscreen of the train to see where he was headed to, he could see the village
nearby. The villagers looked perplexed, some gazed in amazement, and some ran
for their lives. He approached a fork in the road which led to the garage where
the trains were stored. It was empty before as all the trains were destroyed
apart from this one. He applied the
brakes and stopped inside the garage, walking out of the unknown location and
erecting a wall of steel to stop intruders.
