B Rank Supply Line (Mission Topic)
Sun Apr 15, 2012 12:33 am
Birds flew and chirped over the path that led out of Kirigakure. It was midday and the sun was past Itsuka as he walked, shivering from the cold. It was quite chilly indeed, and the contractor beside him pulled on a coat to warm himself up. Itsuka had earlier been called in to take a mission from the Mizukage Psychosis. The mission was to protect the contractor he had met while he setup and built a supply line to Konoha from Kirigakure. Itsuka wondered what he had in mind by setting up a supply line to Konoha, although it wasn't really his business. Maybe Kirigakure was allying with Konoha? It didn't actually matter though, as long it was the word of the Mizukage he would complete the mission. Dirt crunched on the path beneath Itsuka's feet as he walked, slowly getting warmer as they furthered themselves from Kirigakure. Apparently two supply lines had needed to be built, a port through the Land of Waves from Kiri and a tunnel to Konoha. Kiri being the port industrious place it was, the port was already done. All Itsuka needed to do was guard the contractor while he and his crew finished the tunnel. They were supposed to be working on a mined out area in the side of a hill that they had already started, and Itsuka was headed there now. He looked over to the contractor, a tall, old man, a gray cover of scruff on his face and only the coat he had, khakis, and a long sleeved blue shirt on. The man, Mashu Boyuku, didn't seem to be affected by the cold. Instead there was just an unreadable poker face pasted on.
After an hour or so, a camp was visible 5 meters in the distance, a fire set up at the camp. Why would they setup a fire? That just makes them easier to spot through the dark sky! Damn, what if they're already dead? Or, or if we get killed by ninja who ambush us? Itsuka thought to himself, nervous at the idea of failure. He really didn't want to let Mizukage-sama down, he would probably be yelled at or punished if he failed. Or worse, he could die. Dying would not be a very good thing to happen. He hadn't even accomplished much yet, nor did he have any friends or anything, dying now would be unacceptable, even he would hate himself. As they approached the camp over a small rise, the hill behind it with a large opening in it became clear. Itsuka signaled with his hand for the contractor to get down, while he himself also crouched low. When they got over the rise, they could see a group of workers sitting around the fire, chatting. Itsuka squinted, looking for any other possibly hidden dangers. All he could see were stacks of wood and piles of stone at the camp site and several tents scattered around. Knowing the coast was clear, he and the contractor stood back up and ran over to the camp. Once the workers saw Mashu, they cheered and greeted him happily. Almost instinctively, Itsuka flinched at their stupidity. Why are they being so loud? Jeez, I bet with all the noise it will attract enemies and we will get ambushed! What might happen then? I could get caught off guard, we might be helpless, and what if we all die? What if I can't protect them and fail the mission? Itsuka thought, now a nervous wreck. Trying to keep those thoughts off his mind, he instructed for there to be torches placed around a large area around the perimeter and the strongest and most combat able there take shifts patrolling several areas along with Itsuka while the builders stayed up in shifts of building and sleeping working. This process went on and continued until around 9:00 PM, when Itsuka was getting tired and lay down at his position with one other nearby awake to rest.
Later on in the night, a yell roared out through the night. "Hey! Hey! Itsuka!", yelled out a voice, blurred by Itsuka's drowsiness. Soon he was up on his feet and being told something by one of the workers. "We've almost finished with the tunnel! The other side of the hill will break in to a plain about 3 miles from Konoha where a road on the other side continues to the village, but there's a problem. Someone's here! Two men were found dead and the man who killed them has shown himself!" the man explained. Someone is here? And he already killed? Oh man I hope the contractor isn't dead, I've got to find him! Itsuka thought, now panicking. He ran over to the campsite, going to check on who was still alive. There were about 9 workers left, and thankfully, the contractor, standing in terror at the figure before them. The man that the worker had mentioned wasn't really a man, but more of a boy. He stepped slowly towards the workers, carrying a katana in one hand of which he flicked his wrist to remove the blood that laced it like red satin. All he had on was a black short sleeved shirt and shinobi pants. Across his forehead was a headband with the symbol for Konohagakure but it had a scratch across the middle of the symbol. A rogue ninja?! Why would he come here? Maybe he hates Kiri or Konoha, and does not want the supply line to help them out? Oh man I hope he doesn't kill me or the contractor! Itsuka said, hastily getting back out of sight from the ninja and activating Hidden Mist Jutsu from the cover. A thick shroud of mist ensued, the workers and contractor got far back from the battle, and so the fight would begin.
Itsuka, although nobody would be able to see him, stayed close to the contractor, making sure the other boy stayed away from him. Then, the rogue ninja made a sudden dash forward into the gray blanket of water vapor, headed straight towards the contractor. What? Does he actually know where the contractor is? Or is he just dashing trying to find someone? People shouldn't be able to see more than 4 feet or so ahead within my mist and even that gives bad and blurry vision of the things! Itsuka thought. Quickly improvising, he swiftly grabbed up a metal pipe on the ground and dashed in front of Mashu. There was a loud clash of metal as the ninja's sword and Itsuka's pipe connected, sending sparks out from the point of contact. In a wisp of a voice, the words of the rogue ninja were spoken. "I am here for the contractor known as Mashu Boyuku, please do not get in my way, hand him over and nobody else has to die," he spoke lightly. Itsuka simply shook his head, and the ninja jumped back away from him. It seemed as though the ninja could not, as a matter of fact, see more than any normal person would in the mist, and that he was going to run blind, slaughtering those in his way to get to the contractor. Oh no, if that really is what he's doing, this could turn really bad really fast. Oh no this is bad, this is bad, what do I do?? Itsuka thought, racing through his mind for what to do. And then it came to him, he would do what a ninja does best. Use tactical advantage to murder the enemy.
Itsuka slid through the mist, a small gray cloud going through the dark sky unnoticed. As he did so he activated Bunshin no Jutsu and sent the clone dashing towards the boy. The boy, reacting very quickly, cut the clone across the chest, and it disappeared in a puff of smoke. Itsuka repeated this with several clones, launched at the boy in a barrage of a circle, the rogue ninja at the center and becoming more frustrated as this continued on. Just as the rogue's rage was building up and he was getting tired, Itsuka decided it was time for the finale. Sending in one more clone, the clone jumped at the boy at the same time wood seemed to drip out of Itsuka's finger. Itsuka held his right hand like a gun as the time seemed to go in slow mo, the clone launching towards the ninja and the ninja turning with his sword to cut it. A splinter, the size and effectiveness of a senbon, formed out of Itsuka's finger where the barrel of the gun would be. Before the ninja cut the clone, it had already dispersed, and the rogue who had attacked was left with a hole in his throat where newly replaced was a wooden senbon, killing him and ending the fight. Itsuka dispersed the mist and sighed, then going over to check if everyone was okay. Nobody else other than the two men had died, and three hours later, the tunnel reached the other side and was completed.
Itsuka's mission complete, he headed back home to Kirigakure to report in and get his reward from the long days' work. No more ninja had attacked after that first one, and Itsuka was happy he had finished his mission. And so the life of Itsuka Senju went on.
