Vash was standing in a forest in a valley near Kumo. He was
alone now. No village to call home. He was living on borrowed time, it was only
a matter of time till someone came looking for his head. Till that day came he
needed to train and get ready.
He sat under a tree and picked up a leaf. Might as well work
on his chakra. Now how did that exercise work? Something like Shape your chakra
into sharp blades or something like that. He placed the leaf in-between his
hands then gathered chakra to try and cut it.
He was like that for a couple of minutes. Then he opened his
hands to see if it worked. The leaf was still the same, no sign that anything
happened. Vash glared at the leaf, like he was trying to will the leaf to move.
Taking a deep breath he tried again.
Placing both hands together with the leaf inside he gathered
chakra. 'come on, thin and sharp now.'
He mentally told himself. Pumping more chakra into the exercise. Molding his
chakra as thin and sharp as he could make it. Just sitting there with his hands
together with his eyes closed.
After an half hour of just sitting there he opened his eyes.
Then opening his hands to look at his progress. The leaf had a small cut on one
end. 'Alright, some progress, unless that
was there before. I don't think it was.'
Throwing the leaf on the ground he went and picked up a new
one off the ground. He repeated the same process. Placing the leaf between his
hands, then generate chakra into his hands. 'Thin
and sharp. thin and sharp.' He repeated in his head. Closing his eyes to
concentrate. 'Thin and sharp.' He desperately need to get this down.
Something as simple as this, cutting a leaf with chakra, could be all the difference
in a battle. He opened up his hands to check.
"You got to be fucking shitting me!" He yelled out
in frustration. The leaf didn't look any different. Not even a small cut like
the last one. He tore the leaf up, than stump around the base of the tree to
blow off some steam. Who every thought of this was probably laughing at him
from the grave. There was just no way something this simple could be so damn
hard.
With a heavy sigh, he sat back down and picked up another
leaf. ' There better be a reaction this
time.' Then repeating the same steps as before and repeating to himself, 'Thin and sharp now.' He closed his
eyes. Concentrating as hard as he could. Trying to mold the chakra to his will.
He could almost imagine the cut appearing on the leaf.
Sitting under the tree. Perfectly still, with a look of
concentration on his face. The breeze gently blowing in his hair. The sun was
starting to set. Opening his eyes he went and looked at the leaf. There it was.
A small, but noticeable cut at one end.
Several days later.
Vash stood in a self made clearing. Trees were on their
side, cut down by a blade. Vash hated this feeling of weakness. He hated it so
much. He needed to train more, but god forbid if he couldn't get this damn
exercise to work. After losing his temper, and cooling down with some good old
mayhem and destruction. He sat down and picked up a leaf.
"I'll cut you in half yet you piece of shit." As
he glared at the leaf, but the leaf was indifferent to him. Then placing the
leaf between his hands, he began to generate what wind chakra he could. 'Thin and sharp, you can do this.' he
mentally encourage himself. Closing his eyes to concentrate cutting the leaf.
Trying to visualize the leaf being cut by his chakra. after a few minutes he
opened his hands to check out the leaf. It had to small cuts on both ends. He
had gone through thousands of leafs since starting this exercise, and this was
the best he could do. He picked up a new leaf that had no cuts in it to start
over again.
Vash had been doing this for hours on end. Only stopping to
eat or sleep. He couldn't afford to focus on anything else. Elemental training
is said to take years to master. He needed to complete it in months. He needed
this strength. He been hearing rumors, but he had no time to dwell on them are
risk losing his focus again. Maybe he could find some way to speed up the training.
In the mean time.
'Thin and sharp, needs
to be thinner and sharper. ' The cut that formed on the leaf grew a few
centimeters longer. That just meant he was a few centimeters closer. He heard
the next step was cutting a waterfall, but maybe he could find something a
little easier to cut before that. A rock might do it, a lot thicker than a
leaf. 'That's what I will do after I can
cut this damn leafs.'
He discarded the half-way cut leaf and picked up a new one.
Continuing practicing the chakra exercise, he started to pump wind chakra
between his hands. 'Thinner, sharper,
thinner, sharper.' He repeated in his head. Looking at his progress so far,
it wasn't as long as the last cut, but still better than what he had been
doing. Maybe he could complete it sooner than expected.
Two weeks later.
"Finally, I finally did it! hahahahaha!" Vash
yelled to the heavens. He had finally cut a leaf in two with his chakra. It to
him longer than expected, but damn it he did it. He even tried it on another
leaf just to make sure it wasn't a fluke. Now he could start on the next
exercise, the one he thought of. There were plenty of rocks around. Vash bent
over and picked up a fist sized rock.
Gathering as much wind chakra as he could muster. Vash began
to cut into the stone with his chakra. 'Thinner
and sharper. Just like last time.' He sat there for a few minutes, trying
to make as much of a impression on the rock as he could. Opening his hands to
look at his work.
"YOU'RE FUCKING JOKING!" The rock in his hand had
a tiny scratch on the surface. You could barely tell if it was there to begin
with. It was like starting back at square one. "Yeah, this might take
awhile." He said.
With that he went back to gathering wind chakra to try and
cut the stone in his hand. He pumped a ton of wind chakra in between his hands.
His anger was getting the best of him, as Small cuts appeared on his hands.
Stopping the chakra flow to his hands, and looking at the rock. It had many
shallow cuts along its surface.
He needed to calm down. The only way to get done faster was
to focus on one spot. Use the wind chakra to grind away at one spot. He to a
small break to clear his head. to get his emotions under control. After a few
minutes cooling off, Vash went back to it. Taking the same rock as before in
his hands. Then he began to gather all the wind chakra he could generate into a
focus point along the rock and began to cut.
Vash did that for a week. using his wind chakra to cut that
single stone. Whenever he could no longer generate anymore chakra, He would
take a short nap. Then when he woke up and got done eating he be at it again.
Vash was suffering from training like this. The lack of proper sleep was screwing
with his heath, but he would rest till he could cut this damn rock. Then it
happened. After a full week of grinding into the stone, it finally cut in two.
"It's about damn time!" He yelled before passing
out. When he woke back up it was still daylight. Vash thought he was only out
for an hour or two. That was, till he looked at the sun. It was coming up from
the east instead of going down in the west. That when it dawned on him that he
was out the entire night.
He picked up another rock and began to cut into it again
with his wind chakra. To his surprise it took him only the rest of the day to
cut through it. "Guess getting some
sleep was what I needed.' He thought to himself. He spent another week
cutting rocks till he could cut a rock in half in a minute. With that done Vash
decide to take a break from wind element training. Plus he needed a waterfall
to continue, and there were no waterfalls nearby to train at. So Vash went and
hunted down a rabbit to eat before heading out to find a new place to train.
