Navi's Training
Sun Jul 15, 2012 10:41 pm
Chakra Training:
Day 1:
It was early in the morning, that time right before the sun comes up where everything is peaceful. Navi got out of bed and yawned quietly. Today was his first day of training. He stretched and tossed on his usual clothes, then headed out the door. The village was quiet and if Navi loved one thing, it was silence. Walking down the streets towards the training grounds was beautiful. The sun wasn't going to come up for at least another hour, and the village was completely tranquil.
When Navi arrived at the training grounds he already had a regiment in mind. He excelled in chakra control, so the best thing to train in was to increase his chakra reserves. He started with a handsign. "Alright" he thought, first lets remember the handsigns. He took a deep breath and formed Ram. Then immediately followed with Snake, then finished with Tiger. The three handsigns to make a clone. Nothing. Navi tried again "Ram, Snake, Tiger" he spoke, matching each word with a handsign. Still nothing.
Navi sat down to meditate. A teacher at the academy said that his release was Fire, similar to the Uchiha clan, the family that raised him. In his case, the clone jutsu should come easily, seeing as the Tiger handsign is associated with Fire. Navi sat up and took another deep breath. "Tiger" he said aloud, clasping his hands together. He sat patiently for an hour, holding the handsign. He slowly felt his chakra begin to fill his body.
"Alright then" he said aloud. he focused his chakra at his core and quickly matched each handsign. "Ram, Snake, TIGER!" he locked his fingers together for each handsign and released his Chakra as he reached the final handsign. "Clone Jutsu!". It worked! A perfect Clone of himself appeared in front of him. He held it for a few seconds and released with a deep breath. Navi sat down and looked at the sky feeling proud of himself. While gazing up he realized that the sun was setting and he should probably head home.
Day 2:
Navi got up promptly and early. Immediately flinging on his clothes and flying out the door. He walked the streets again just like the day before. Walking down the streets towards the training grounds was beautiful. The sun wasn't going to come up for at least another hour, and the village was completely tranquil. Navi felt a sense of deja vu as he reached the training grounds.
This was the second day, which meant it was time for him to work on his second jutsu. This technique was the substitution jutsu, also known as the body replacement technique. It was a much more difficult jutsu then the clone jutsu, which meant more hand signs and more chakra. This time Navi wouldn't bother not building up chakra first. He sat down and began to meditate. He had learned from yesterday that he could summon the most chakra using the tiger handsign. This time he built his chakra and helt the handsign for 3 hours. He stood back up and felt his body pulsing with power.
It was time to try the jutsu. At the academy it was a required jutsu to be able to perform, he had to master it if he was to become a better ninja. "Here we go" he told himself. He matched each word with the following handsigns as he said them aloud. "Ram, Boar, Ox, Dog, Snake". His body quivered for a moment and then complete silence. He could perform the jutsu then, he just needed to attack himself, and replace himself with a log to stop it.
If I cant perform this jutsu, then I can't call myself a ninja. Navi drew a kunai from the pouch on his waist. Adrenaline pulsed through his veins, he would need to attack himself and perform the jutsu perfectly, if he couldn't do it, he would hurt himself, or even kill himself. Navi didn't hesitate, it was time to see if he could perform the jutsu. Navi threw the kunai high above his head. It was going to come back down with all the force of gravity. It was now or never. Chakra and adrenaline filled his body. "Ram, Boar, Ox, Dog, Snake... Body Replacement Technique!" for a moment his chakra wavered. The kunai tilted downwards and raced back towards his head. Navi closed his eyes and focused his chakra. He wouldn't dodge it, he had to perform the jutsu. The kunai pierced his head and it all happened at once. His body appeared a few feet away, and a stump stood straight up where he had stood, a kunai jutting from the top. He had successfully performed the jutsu. Navi walked over and pulled his kunai from the top of the stump. It was getting late again and it was time for him to go home.
Day 3:
Navi got up early for another day of training. He had performed both of the jutsu he was taught at the academy the previous days, it was time to master both of the jutsu. Navi got out of bed and dressed himself. He filled his pouches with kunai and headed down the streets of his village towards the training grounds. He walked the streets again just like the day before. Walking down the streets towards the training grounds was beautiful. The sun wasn't going to come up for at least another hour, and the village was completely tranquil. Navi felt a sense of deja vu as he reached the training grounds. As a matter of fact, it seemed like he had the same experience every time he walked the streets this early in the morning. Either way, he still liked the experience.
He reached the training grounds and was ready for a long day. He was going to master both jutsu today. "Ram, Snake, Tiger". Without even having built up chakra he was able to perform the clone jutsu, Navi's ability to control his chakra was one of his best talents. Once he mastered a jutsu, it was easy to repeat. Navi had produced 2 clones of himself. Both of them stood opposite of him and drew kunai. Now it was time for him to master the substitution technique. His clones attacked, throwing kunai at him. Navi quickly reacted striking the necessary handsigns to perform the body replacement technique. The kunai struck his body a half a second after performing the jutsu. Navi appeared a few feet farther back, the log replacing his body filled with kunai. Again, the clones attacked with a flurry of kunai, and again Navi replaced himself perfectly with another object. All day he followed this regiment until he learned to control his chakra to perform it faster. He also focused on using as little chakra as possible to perform each jutsu in order to preserve as much energy as possible. The third day was the conclusion of his regiment. He aimed to further master his chakra control and attempted to master two academy level jutsu. He would need to continue his training to increase his abilities further, but he had made benchmark progress on his way to becoming a genin. Navi would return to the training grounds soon to focus on his other skills, perhaps he could go to the academy to learn more jutsu soon. He was day dreaming too much now though. It was time to go home, he would train again soon.

Speed Training:
Time to focus, Navi needed to get faster if he wanted an edge over his opponents. As was customary for him Navi got up early. He got out of bed and yawned quietly. He was off to the training grounds again, but this time it wasn't for chakra. He would need chakra focused in his feet, but otherwise, the rest of his training would be focusing on his body. Instead of going to the usual field, Navi found a tall oak tree with long branches. He climbed up focusing his chakra in his finger tips, and got on top of a thick branch. To be fast, he would also need to practice his balance. To be a fast ninja, one must maintain balance. To practice, Navi jumped up the trunk of the tree and bounded off, landing neatly on an upper branch. Navi tried again, bounding off the trunk and on to the upper branch. This time his grip slipped and he began to fall. Thinking quickly he grasped the slippery branch with his left hand. He tried to pull himself up but the branch was too thin and slippery. Navi focused the chakra in his hands and tried again, barely pulling himself up. He quickly bounded up to the next, more stable, branch. He was getting quick, and his balance was getting better and better. Before long it was late in the evening. Navi had climbed the entire length of the tree several times and was getting tired. He had aquired the ability to climb the entire length of the tree in under a minute. It was time to call it a day though. He would be back for more training tomorrow.
He woke up the following morning bright and early as always. It was time to work on his speed under stressful situations. He stretched and tossed on his usual clothes, then headed out the door. The village was quiet and if Navi loved one thing, it was silence. Walking down the streets towards the training grounds was beautiful. The sun wasn't going to come up for at least another hour, and the village was completely tranquil. Navi went back to the same tree as before and was preparing to climb the tree again. He refocused his chakra in his hands and legs. First it was time to make things interesting. Navi created 2 clones which would attack him as he climbed the tree. He started bounding up the tree, and as he did, both of his clones through constant barages of kunai and shuriken. Navi would not block the incoming projectiles, only dodge them and rely entirely on his speed. He bounded up the tree quickly, not pausing for a second and always reaching for the next branch. After a couple rounds of this routine the tree was lined with embedded shuriken and kunai. Navi learned a little trick of being able to use kunai that were burrowed deep in the tree as hand and footholds. With this trick he was able to quickly climb trees even faster then before. Navi was getting truly fast. While watching other ninja train at other trees he was picking up there tricks too. Today was getting to be very productive. His reflexes were getting quicker, his limbs were getting more easily stretched and each branch became more reachable. Through every hour of training Navi would get faster and faster. Soon Navi moved to training in the field and decided to train with kunai in hand. He focused on jabbing and stabbing quicker and quicker until there were more holes in the training target then in a sponge. Eventually Navi began to get more tired. He stopped to take a break and catch his breath. He watched as other ninja sparred with one another. Their feet had a particular stance that allowed for faster movement. Watching them move was incredible. Navi tried to replicate their technique but he wasn't fast enough and easily fell over. Then he realized the problem, he needed to concentrate all of his chakra in his feet to maintain balance with such a speed boost. He tried again, and with the correct stance and chakra input he was able to replicate their technique. Navi was feeling stronger by the day and with the chakra training he was undergoing now, he might even be able to learn more jutsu. Navi decided to go home and go to sleep, it was getting late and he had a lot to think about on the way home. Soon he would become a genin, and he would have the skills to and edge to do any mission people through at him. Navi got home and went to sleep, he would train again soon.

Re: Navi's Training

Stamina Training:
Navi lacked one thing in comparison to his other skills: stamina. He set a new regiment during his afternoons to practice growing in stamina. The teacher at the academy was swarmed with students wanting to undergo the Genin exam. He would get his chance soon enough, he was just waiting to be called up. For now he would just clear his schedule for more training. Stamina was an area he lacked in so he had to train to even his skills. That afternoon he had time in the training field so it was a good opportunity as any. Navi sat up and thought of ways to increase his stamina. His recent speed training would help him train his stamina easier. To start, Navi began running laps around the training field. He ran quickly with boosts of speed by channeling his chakra to his legs. He would lift his legs higher to tire himself out quicker, and to force himself to build endurance. Stamina training would be easy in theory, just tire yourself out and keep pushing. It practice, this is easier said then done, Navi was already feeling the stress on his body by the tenth lap around the training field. He was just getting started though, the laps were just to tire himself out. To continue training like this, he would need to work on building endurance while tired, and he would need to do it under extreme pressure. Relying on an old technique he often employed, Navi created two clones of himself to attack him with kunai while running laps. Not only would he have to run quickly, but this new exercise would require him to jump and dodge his way around the field. He would have to perform this task while tired, but it would be an excellent way to build a ninja's endurance. Navi began running his first lap, quickly bursting into a sprint and dodging the first volley of projectiles. This would be a test of chakra control as well. He needed to focus on running quickly around the field, but also be able to channel chakra into his hands and thighs to jump and dodge the attacks his clones would throw at him. He began to sweat heavily by the fifth lap of this and quickly realized he wouldn't be able to keep it up for much longer. By the seventh lap Navi was panting heavily and a kunai had narrowly missed his shoulder, causing a deep scratch and drawing some blood. He cried out softly in pain, front-flipping over the next volley and landing on his hands, transitioning to a roll and quickly back on his feet. He needed to keep going, this was a test of his skill as a ninja. He had not tasted combat yet, but when he did, he wanted to be ready to win. Stamina had to be a core part of being a ninja, for the ninja that is tired first will surely be at a massive disadvantage. By the tenth lap of this Navi was running on fumes. If he was to become a Genin he had to be a master at this. He was determined with such ambition he refused to stop. By lap thirteen Navi was sweating heavily. He couldn't take it anymore and guts had only gotten him so far. He stopped and panted. He looked up and saw the next volley of weapons incoming. He reacted in a second. Performing the substitution jutsu just in time to save himself. Immediately he dispelled the clones and collapsed on the grass. Holding clones for that long was tiring, but performing a substitution right after was straining his chakra. His body couldn't take much more of such a difficult training regiment either. He was still tired, but he needed to conclude his training with something a little bit more familiar. He returned to the tree where he had done speed training earlier. Under his current tired condition, it would be a true test to limb this tree as fast as he used to be able to.
Navi grabbed the first branch firmly and pulled himself up. His arms and legs ached with extreme pain. Falling out of the tree on his head seemed like a better alternative right now. Forcing himself, he bounded up the tree to the next branch. By the half-way mark Navi was dizzy, he lost his balance and began to fall. Thinking quickly, he grabbed a kunai and jabbed it into the trunk of the tree, breaking his fall. Taking a second to breathe, he rebounded up on to the next branch, quickly regaining focus. When he finally reached the top of the tree the sun was beginning to go down. It had taken him a lot longer then he thought. He would need to train more if this was the extent of his energy. Today he was proud of himself though. He felt he had made a benchmark in increasing his abilities as a ninja. Next he would create a new regiment focusing on his strength. A powerful ninja relies on strength to defeat his foes. Navi surveyed the training ground from the top of the tree while he caught his breath. There was a line of training dummies that would suit this purpose nicely. He would practice old fashioned Taijutsu on them until his muscles ached, and slowly build his strength. As his skills continued to grow, Navi wondered if the academy had much left to teach him. His abilities as a ninja had surpassed almost all of his classmates and he felt ready to begin life as a genin. Navi resolved that after strength training he would have to ask his mentor for a shot at earning his own leaf headband. After that he would need to start of on his road to being a chunin. That was too far ahead for now, he had to take things in stride.
It was late in the evening and Navi decided to dedicate what strength he had left to his training. He had rested enough at the top of this tree. He leaped down quickly, bounding down each branch. He started up the tree again, jumping back up and down each branch. He quickly got tired again, it seemed that the strain on his body from earlier training was still affecting him. This was stamina training after all, he needed to work through the strain to build up his endurance. He bounded up each branch faster and harder, eventually it got to a point where he didn't have the strength to jump up to even the first branch. Navi forced himself up and began to run laps again. He staggered around the field, barely even able to see straight. The strain was unimaginable and it was the hardest he had ever worked before. By the fifth lap Navi fell over and vomited. He crawled into the middle of the field and clutched his stomach. This is what it meant to be a ninja, to push yourself harder and harder to build strength and bring pride to your village. He couldn't summon any more strength though. He wouldn't even be able to limp home in this condition. A good nights sleep would make him feel refreshed again though, in the morning he would be back to another day of being a Konoha ninja. Navi fell asleep laying in the middle of the training field, a cool breeze drying off the sweat produced by his harsh training.

Re: Navi's Training

Strength Training:
Navi awoke in the training field. As expected it was early in the morning, he always woke up early. He didn't have time to rest though, if he was to become a Genin soon it was time to focus on his trait that needed the most work. He needed to build up his raw power and get physically stronger. Navi was becoming a shinobi stronger then anyone else at the academy, after some hardcore strength training he wouldn't be severely lacking in any area. With his skills all evening out he would need to prepare for his next tier of training, which would mean more intensity then before. There he went again thinking too far ahead, it was time to focus on becoming stronger. To do that, he needed to practice some basic Taijutsu.
Navi walked over to a wooden training dummy, stretching and shaking off his body from laying in the field all night. He stared at it for a moment, noticing the big red target painted in the center. First would come kicks, strengthening his legs. Navi stuck a combat stance and hardened his legs, targeting the bullseye painted at the center of the dummy. He kicked it hard, the sole of his sandal rattling at the force. The dummy barely budged, it was stuck deep into the ground and used to taking beatings from Chunins. He couldn't hope of being able to do any real damage to the thing at his level. Even so, he continued lining up straight kicks with his legs. After about a hundred he would switch legs and continue performing a straight kick directly at the target. Easy enough. Now for side kicks, lining his leg up to strike the side of the dummy, Navi struck the target quickly and accurately. His current style was fast but weak. He would need more practice. Navi switched legs and continued performing side kicks. After another hundred reps his legs began to ache slightly.
Punches were next on the list. With his palm outstretched he struck the target directly in the center, alternating hands after each blow. This was easier and required less strength, each strike was quick and lead to the next one. His muscles strained after doing 500 reps with his arms. Taijutsu clearly was not his strong suit. If he was to continue this line of training it was time to focus with his chakra. He restarted his reps with straight kicks. This time, he focused his chakra on the joints in his knee and the sole of his feet. Each kick was strong and powerful, with chakra channeling through his body he could make his taijutsu passable. Two-hundred reps that time, next comes side kicks. Same as before, focusing chakra in his knee and shin, right where the points of contact were. Another Two-hundred reps, chakra was fueling his kicks instead of endurance. There was no doubt that each kick would require a lot of strength and strain on his muscles as well. He felt his legs ache harder, and his kicks were more powerful, but weakening from exhaustion. Two-hundred of those as well, it was time to switch back to his arms. After a deep breath, he focused chakra in his hands and elbows, striking the target with the palm of his hand. His shoulder began to ache with each blow and his palm flattened further on contact with the solid wood. This was becoming increasingly difficult. Taijutsu was a difficult art to master, he couldn't perform this kind of training much longer without using up even more of his chakra. Navi drew a kunai and began to stab and slash at the tree relentlessly. He might not be skilled at hand-to-hand combat, but he would get better with time. For now he would focus more on weaponry. A kunai felt natural to hold in his hand, each slash easily and naturally flowed into the next and after a combination of 300 slashes and stabs, he had turned the surface of the training dummy into swiss cheese. He spun the kunai around his finger while surveying his work. He took a deep breath and prepared to start the next phase. He was going to combine taijutsu with his weaponry skill next. Just like he would if in combat. One more deep breath and he jumped into action. First game a quick double kick, followed by an uppercut with his kunai. He leaped into the air and slammed his other leg into the target, then spun and smashed his fist back across the target. Landing on his feet he dropped into a crouch and whirled around into a feet swipe. A feet swipe wouldn't work on a piece of wood though, the kick landed squarely, but Navi lost balance and fell on his butt. He got back up and focused another flurry, this time he strafed left and right after each attack, as if he was dodging an enemies attacks. He focused his strength to slice deep and hard into the target. After a few minutes of this he ended with with a final backhanded strike with his kunai, plunging his knife deep into the center of the target. He panted and was satisfied by how hard he was able to strike the target. He grasped the hilt of the knife and pulled hard with both hands, jerking the blade out. It was time to try a different method to increase his strength. He went back to his favorite tree and formulated a new strategy. If he could climb this tree with only his arms, then he has certainly become a better ninja. He grasped the first branch with his outstretched arms and did a basic pull up. When his chin had become level with the top of the branch, he leapt to the next branch, grabbing that with his arms as well. Each pull-up was hard work and the leap between each branch exerted a powerful force on his muscles. Once he reached the top of the tree his arms ached with extreme pain. It would probably be best if he didn't use them for awhile. Navi returned to the bottom of the tree and formulated a new strategy. He decided to climb the tree with only his legs, forcing his leg muscles to bound his way off the trunk to each branch. He leapt up to the first one easily. His leg muscles felt much more powerful then his arms. He leapt his way branch by branch all the way till the top of the tree. When he reached the top he bounded his way back down for the extra practice. This exercise was an excellent test of balance and when he felt he was about to slip he would just strengthen his stance with a little burst of chakra. When Navi finally reached the bottom of the tree he was worn out. His taijutsu had certainly improved and until he learned some more jutsu he would have to rely on it on combat. His basic academy level skills wouldn't get him very far against a stronger opponent. Until then he would need to focus on his close combat skill, if he could master taijutsu incorporated with ninjutsu then he would be able to start forming his own style. All of this training on his own was starting to become tiresome though. He needed to put his skills to the test against a worthy opponent. He had invited some collagues he had met at the academy to come train with him. If he was lucky he might be able to have a good sparring session to. He yearned to put his combat skills to the test see if all of his recent training had paid off. Finding fellow ninja to fight or train with should be his next task if he was to grow stronger. Navi decided he would continue his strict training regiment. In the mean time he should try to help out around the village or try some more missions. His muscles ached from the hard training. He had not only grown stronger from physical exertion but also had gained a stronger presence of chakra control. This skill would prove invaluable when he learned more jutsu in the inevitable future. Especially when he learns his first technique beyond academy level. Mastery of chakra control was a ninja skill he had to pay close attention to if he was to grow stronger. Navi headed home to rest and regain some chakra and strength. His long day of hardcore ninja training had made him a stronger ninja.

Re: Navi's Training

Speed Training:
It was time to begin the second phase of Navi's training. He currently had the skill of around a newly graduated Genin. When it was finally time to graduate he needed to be able to stand out among the Genin. The second phase of his regiment would involve not just strengthening him as a ninja, but preparing him for harder missions and combat against other ninja. By the end of the training he would need to add another jutsu or two to his arsenal. First it was time to begin by building his speed. Navi flung the covers off of himself and sat up in bed. He had trained hard as a student but now he had to face the reality that it was time to train as if he was a Genin. That meant harder training then ever before. He stood up and threw on his clothes. At this rate his chakra power level would increase to do better techniques. He would need to rely on more powerful jutsu, which meant no more academy level tricks to try to get an edge. Navi opened the door and started down the streets of the Leaf Village. It was as quiet in the streets of Konoha as it always was, the walk to the training field was a tranquil experience. When Navi finally arrived it was still just before the sun would come up, giving him plenty of time to have a full day of training. He needed to be as fast as a Hyuga and as ruthless as an Uchiha. This time he would start with speed. Navi began with the simple exercise he had completed on his first regiment, running laps around the training field. By concentrating chakra in the soles of his feet, he was able to concentrate to create bursts of speeds to get him around the field with a speed he had not before experienced. The thrill was incredible, but he couldn't let himself get distracted or it would be a waste of training. He needed to train his speed like he was in the middle of a battle. He would need to train the speed of his jabs and the quickness of his kicks. To start, he would need to train the speed of his taijutsu. He walked over to the training dummies and struck a fighting stance. Navi quickly began his reps with a flurry of punches. He wouldn't focus on the strength or power, only the rate at which he could hit his target accurately. After 300 reps of speed punches Navi switched over to kicks. His flurry of kick focused on both legs, accurately targeting the center of the dummy. After 300 reps of speed kicks it was time to focus on combinations. Without counting Navi restlessly flung combinations of punches and kicks at the target. Every rep was quick and accurate, by the end of the exercise, his legs and arms ached restlessly. I must have done over a thousand reps he thought to himself. It was time to finish up the dummy training with a kunai, his preferred weapon of choice. Fortunately the academy had let him borrow a kunai knife for whenever he was out training in the field. Eventually he would have to buy his own, but for now this would serve its purpose nicely. Navi started the training his his knife, slashing the target as fast as he could, manipulating his arm and leg movements to figure out which one was the fastest. In the world of ninja combat the smallest fraction of a second meant victory or defeat, and even life or death. When he found the quickest and most comfortable style, he practiced it endlessly. He would need to learn how to make his strikes stronger, but for now it was all about the speed of his flurry. After another 500 or so reps, Navi stepped back and surveyed his work, panting heavily. He had completely cut up his target, while catching his breath he spun the knife around his finger. Navi sighed and decided to move on to the next phase of his training. It was time to focus on the speed of his jutsu by practicing how fast he can perform hand signs. As with the taijutsu training, even the smallest fraction of a second mattered. With ninjutsu training, handsign speed was important. He performed the clone jutsu with a series of handsigns. He would create one clone to conserve chakra, then dispell the jutsu immediately. The purpose was the perform the jutsu as quickly as possible, not hold the jutsu. After making the clone jutsu as quickly as possible 100 times he moved to the transformation technique. He transformed into every one of the students he knew in his academy class at ninja school. He was able to perform each jutsu in only a second or two after he had practiced enough times. Interlocking his fingers at the right speed was only half the battle though, in order to truly master being fast at ninjutsu, he had to learn to focus his chakra in order to perform the jutsu just as quickly. Learning to focus his chakra at such speed to perform each jutsu was even more difficult then performing the handsigns, fortunately Navi excelled in chakra control and his ability to perform each jutsu never faltered. It would be a long time before he ran out of chakra, his chakra reserves were extremely high for his age and skill level. However, he was using chakra at such a high rate that he would burn through that reserve eventually. Eventually Navi decided to switch things up by performing the substitution jutsu as well. He would shake a tree, and every time a stick or leaf would fall and me an inch from striking his head he would perform the substitution. At times he would be ambushed and would need to perform a substitution or die. It was the most important jutsu to be able to perform quickly if was to advance in skill as a ninja. He trained hardest on performing this justsu as quickly as possible. When he had finally finished he started mastering other handsigns, even if it involved jusu he hadn't learned yet, he needed to practice every handsign. Soon he would learn other jutsu that might involve other handsigns, and mastering the ability to perform each one quickly would be vital. The most important handsign to perform quickly was Tiger, which was the handsign representing his element: fire. Tiger was coincidentally his favorite handsign and the one he used to focus his chakra in general. Eventually even Navi's deep chakra reserves began to feel depleted and he couldn't perform any more jutsu without feeling completely depleted. He would have to call it a day soon. To finish off his current regiment he ran more laps as quickly as he could. After a few more bursts of chakra to increase his speed his entire body was feeling depleted. He continued panting, but before deciding to run more laps he realized this was speed training, not endurance. He had already trained like a genin and he was proud of the progress he made. It was time for him to leave the training field and head home. The streets were loud and filled with people in the evening, Navi quickly returned home to rest. He would continue his training again soon.
