Mission Name: Down boy
Rank: B
Type: Intel
Character Requirements: None
Word Count Requirements: 600
Repeatable? No
Reward: 700 Ryo
Task: Someone has reported that a civilian is going to attempt to suicide by jumping off a cliff near the village, stop him by any means, just be sure that he remains alive.
A tiny girl with fiery red hair and sky blue eyes named Sachiko dashed through the busy streets of the village of Konohagakure at top speed, accidently bumping into several disgruntled civilians in the process while yelling out apologies in a loud voice. The sun was shining brightly through the azure blue sky and the overall temperature of the village quite fair; in general, a perfect day. Something quite ironic for the tragedy that was about to transpire if the young girl didn't make it to her destination in time.
You see, Sachiko's had accepted her fourth mission which revealed to be a B rank mission entailing that a civilian was going to attempt suicide. Her job was to stop him from doing so by any means necessary. The young girl honestly had no idea WHY this was a B rank mission, but wasn't going to complain, after all, this particular mission paid a hefty amount of money. However, the young girl didn't really care about the money at the moment, the only thought on her mind being that she wanted to stop someone from throwing away their life by doing something foolish-- like jumping off a cliff.
After many moments of running, the young girl finally arrived at the scene of the ginormous cliff where a ragged looking man with bloodshot light brown eyes and unkempt brown hair was ranting and raving about how life was cruel and he had nothing left to live for. Cautiously, Sachiko crept up to the obviously unstable man and let out a small, friendly grin that was a bit forced and asked in concern, "Hello there, Mr. Is something wrong?"
Sachiko's tactic would be to attempt to convince the man to not attempt suicide. If this tactic failed, she would knock the depressed young man unconsious and drag him to the Hokage's office where he would (hopefully) get therapy of some sort, completing her mission. However, she would only use force against the civilan as a last resort.
The man turned toward the young genin and narrowed his brown, bloodshot eyes at her in distrust, demanding, "Who're you?"
Sachiko mentally grinned at the man's question and distrust. It appeared, at least according to the civilian's actions, that the man was in a stable mind. This would make it easier to reason with him than if he were drunk or insane. It looked like she wouldn't have to resort to brute force after all. At least the young girl desperately hoped so-- she didn't like hurting people.
"No one of importance. I'm just a young girl," Sachiko lied casually, feeling guilt begin to claw at her stomach, "Would you please tell me what's wrong? I may be able to help you, Mr!"
Shut it, I AM just a young girl! the genin thought stubbornly in an attempt to justify herself, the guilt beginning to lessen until another voice countered, Oh, yeah, you're a nine year old ninja sent to stop the guy from commiting suicide. No one important, my foot!
Sachiko was brought out of her mental arguement by the man's voice. At her words, his eyes had softened in understanding and replied, "Sorry, lass, but this ain't somethin' you can help me with."
Sachiko began to panic slightly but managed to maintain the outer image of a curious but innocent little girl. "Why would that be, Mr? Pretty please let me help you!" Sachiko begged, pulling out her secret weapon: the dreaded puppy eyes.
The suicidal man hesitated slightly before letting out a sigh of defeat as he glanced at her sickeningly cute puppy dog face. Score! Sachiko cheered, inwardly grinning, while outwardly maintaining her concerned appearance.
"Well, lass, y' see... my beloved wife died recently from an illness and my son began to gamble, I suspect it's 'cause he needed to cope with her death, and got into a ton of nasty ol' debts that I have ta pay for him... I haven't been able to afford my own food, and my cute little baby girl hasn't been able to eat in so long... My buisness was shut down due to me not bein' able to pay the rent! Now, I just want to die to end all this!" the man bursted out, tears beginning to stream down his face like a waterfall as he began to hiccup.
Throughout the man's explanation, Sachiko's sky blue eyes had began to water before she ran up to the man as fast as lightning and gave him a hug.
"Don't you dare kill yourself, ya old coot! You have a baby daughter, right? What do you think will happen if you leave her all alone? How will your son feel?" Sachiko stated feircly, embracing the surprised man gently.
"Thank ye, lass... Thank ye so much," the man whispered softly, hugging Sachiko back after he got over his surprise.
The young girl merely grinned at the man kindly, saying softly, "No problem."
