Navi vs. Akina Sparring (Private No Kill)

Navi invited his old friend Akina who he knew from back in his student days to the forest. A sparring session would really take him back to the old days. Since then Navi had become a member of the Anbu Black Ops.

Navi now had several pouches on his standard Konoha Jounin uniform, filled with weapons and tools. Technically only a few people were allowed to know he was a member of the Black Ops, which meant that he would have to assume the rank of Jounin. It's because of this that Navi was dressed in full Jounin attire. He most notably he had two sheathed swords on her back, a katana and a ninjato. His leaf headband was tied tightly around his forehead, holding back his crimson red hair. Navi leaned against a tree in the forest as he waited for Akina to show up, staring up at the sky and watching the clouds.

Akina yawned slightly as she woke up from her slumber. She heard her aunt yell up to her that she had a request for a spar in the forest. The girl sat up as she rubbed her eyes. "Hai, Obaa-san." Her voice was just loud enough to be heard. She staggered to her feet and as donned one of her plain yukatas as quickly as she could. She threw on her tabi and her geta rapidly as well. Her feet carried her down the steps and greeted her aunt with a very deep bow. "Ohayo." Her voice was cheerful and she went to the door. "I'm going, now." Her aunt nodded and handed her a bag that contained three obento.

The Hyuga girl dashed out to the forest, watching the trees blur somewhat as she moved. As she got to the forest, she noted that there was a figure that seemed familiar. As Akina neared, Navi was revealed. "Wow, you've really gotten stronger, senpai." She smiled and gave a bow that she thought was appropriate. "My aunt packed three lunches this time...are we expecting someone else?" She was very much at ease when it came to being around Navi.

"Not unless Lord Hokage decides to join us for the spar, although he is probably busy." He gratefully accepted the lunch Akina gave him with a small bow.

Navi wasted no time, and after a deep breath, slipped into a fighting stance. "It's so good to see you Akina, have you gotten stronger since last time?" He intended to spar her while talking, Navi had become so talented that he was immediately drafted to the Black Ops from Chuunin. It was rare that he got free time to himself, but he was happy to spend what time he had with an old friend like Akina. He trusted her implicitly, and being with her, even fighting with her, was a calming experience.

Navi smiled brightly and mentioned that the Hokage might
show up. There was something about the
Hokage that tickled her memory, but what it was, she couldn’t be quite
sure. “Vi—I mean, Hokage-sama might be
coming?” There was a smile on the girl’s
face. It seemed like, for some reason,
she knew the Hokage on a more personal level.
That nagging fact caused her to blush until Navi’s stance and words
called her back from the weird dream-like state. What he had asked her; however, caused her to
blush more and hang her head in shame.
Truth be told, she had not been able to meet with another of her clan,
so she had not been able to train in the way she had hoped. Between that and missions, she had barely
trained at all.


“I have a confession to make…” her voice was quiet, but she
forced herself to look at Navi and speak louder. “I’ve forgotten to train more often than
not. I’ve been busy, so you’re probably
going to wipe the ground with me.” There
was a light chuckle that echoed in the air as she shifted into her fighting
stance. Her body seemed to be shaking
slightly, but she forced herself to grin and bear it. She watched Navi carefully. Even though he was her long time friend, he
was now standing across from her as an enemy.
The very thought of that happening was somewhat ironic, as Akina trusted
Navi with her life on more than one occasion and was happy to call him not only
a friend, but also a comrade.


“Come at me, then, I won’t run or hide…I’m deserving of any
pain you give me in exchange for the shame I have caused.” Her voice was
half-serious and half-mocking. There was
a smirk planted on her lips. She focused
heavily on her chakra flow as she waited for Navi to react.

Navi was so fast that an illusion of him still remained standing in front of Akina, created by raw speed. He appeared behind Akina and flicked her in the back of the head with his index finger, then appeared back in his original spot. The motion was so fast it never looked like he moved, and it was all done in under the tiniest fraction of a second. Navi smiled at Akina, he completely outclassed her in combat now, but being with her was still enjoyable. The determination and heart of her as a ninja was stronger then ever, and she would always be a worthy comrade.

"Perhaps it would be better if you tried to attack me first." Navi smiled as he said this, challenging Akina playfully.

Akina held her ground as firmly as she could, but when her
friend vanished from her sight by simply running at her, her stance shifted so
that she moved as quickly as she could to the side, but by the time her
movement had taken place, Navi was already back in his starting position. He’s
fast…I fear we may be too unevenly matched…this could really be one of those
spars that hurts a lot. A strange
smirk appeared on her lips. It was
simple logic that was driving her forward.
If a direct attack would be worthless, then she would obviously have to
pull off a fake out. But, Navi was no doubt attuned to petty Genin tricks, so
Akina had her work cut out for her. His
words were playful, but they had aggravated her quite a bit. The smirk on her lips darkened as she took
the Hyuga fighting stance for sixty four palms.
Her stance was solid, and her fingertips even held a blue shimmer that
was reminiscent of chakra. It was true,
she would have to work up her speed, and that is what she was intending to
do. It was slightly brazen, but it was
the best she could do for now.


Akina moved sharply, jabbing her right hand out toward Navi,
expecting the hit to fail. She then
shifted stances ever so slightly so that her fingers turned into her open palm
as she threw her left hand toward his kidney, hoping that the false jab would
get him to move just enough. She was
confident in her own abilities, but she was worried about how strong Navi had
truly become. Her leg muscles were
prepared to move at the slightest flicker, and her hands remained poised for an
attack, but she was hoping he’d buy into the charade.


If it came to the worst possible scenario, the girl was
prepared to admit her shortcomings and try her best despite the inevitability
of failure. She took a breath in and
exhaled slowly, her body would have to appear tense but actually be loose
enough to even begin making an attempt at flowing past some of the onslaught
she was no doubt about to face. If she
didn’t think, there was a glimmer of hope that Navi would misjudge her plan of
attack. Silver eyes were pools of poise
and the smirk still lingered on her lips.

Navi quirked up an eyebrow when Akina slid into 64-palms stance. I've never seen this before, he thought to himself. Navi slapped away her right hand effortlessly and then caught her left hand as it came in for his kidney. "If you want to even partially be able to keep up with my movements, your going to need to use that byakugan of yours." Saying this made Navi smile, before when he was a Genin he thought her using the Byakugan was unfair. Now he was requesting her to use it. The truth was, even the Byakugan would only go so far in undeveloped eyes. She might even be able to see some of his movements, but she probably couldn't get her body to react fast enough.

Navi twisted her left hand that he had caught with his right hand. With his left leg, he aimed a swift powerful kick to her chest, in an attempt to send her spinning backward. The kick would be difficult to dodge because he had a strong grip on her hand, and because his kick was probably much faster then she could react.

Akina winced as Navi caught both of her attacks. She chuckled lightly to herself. “I see that now you are much stronger than
you once were. Someone like me can’t
even hope to keep up with you now…but that’s why it’s great to be fighting
you. You can teach me the things I
hopelessly need to learn, like speed.”
She concentrated and activated her Byakugan. As incomplete as it was, it might still be
able to help her through this. Chakra
pounded through her temples and revealed to her the faint spark of Navi’s
chakra network. She writhed in pain as
he twisted her left hand upward.


He had a clear shot at her chest, and he was intending to
take it, at least her Byakugan allowed her to track this one movement. But, he speed was too fast, and since he had
her hand, it was not likely that she would come out of this unscathed. She wriggled her arm, testing his grip, which
to her dismay, was true. The movement
caused more pain, but the girl had to test her limits. She had to get faster if there was any hope
of her not being seriously injured in their next mission. Gritting her teeth, Akina stretched her left
fingertips upward in an attempt at grabbing his wrist. She gripped down hard as she jumped forward,
allowing his kick to connect with her stomach.
She bent forward in pain, but allowed the momentum to propel her into a
front flip.


The girl landed on her feet harshly and gasped for air. “I…see…you’ve really learned a thing or two…”
She laughed despite her pain. She was
staring to see more of the world around her thanks to working her Byakugan
while she was moving. Her body flowed
around to face Navi. With any luck, her
friend would be on the ground. She moved
her chakra to her hands, trying to force her chakra into small pin points she
could use to make piercing jabs or harsh slices with her hands. It was high time she used her clan bloodline
traits in training, and it was also time for her to push the limits of her
physical body in order to make a faster, stronger, more unforgiving Akina who
would fight for the honor of her friends and protect them and their Nindo with
all of who she was to the best of her ability.

Akina had taken a solid blow, but had managed to pull Navi forward with her flip. Navi used the momentum to roll forward, easily bounding back up to his feet before Akina even turned around. She moved her chakra to her hands, trying to force her chakra into small pin points she could use to make piercing jabs or harsh slices with her hands. It was clear she was attempting to channel her chakra to embody her true nature as a Hyuga member. It would remain to be seen how truly efficient he was.

"You want me to teach you speed?" Navi said jokingly. "Come on, I'll teach you the first lesson," Navi slipped into a fighting stance with an outstetched palm and a fist held close to his chest. He would wait for Akina to make the first move this time, prepared for her to come at him. Her Byakugan would make things more interesting, and Navi wondered how developed Akina's Gentle Fist had become.

Akina smirked broadly as she heard what Navi said. Her stomach still ached from the kick she had
endured, but the girl was able to push past her pain and formulate a plan of
attack. She rushed forward and struck
out at Navi’s right leg while tensing her body.
As the strike went for him, she nimbly jumped and rolled further to the
right. With any luck, it would increase
her distance from the elite shinobi. The
girl knew that distance would be the key in this battle if she was going to
have any hope of living through this without too much pain. Her eyes strained
to keep analyzing the situation at hand.
Her head had begun pounding from the amount of time she had been using
her Byakugan, but the girl would not be giving up even if it pained her.


From the pushing of her eyes, she had been able to see Navi’s
chakra network a little clearer and the movements he made had improved in her
sight somehow. She rolled on the ground,
trying to further her distance from Navi.
She knew her friend was too fast, but she would give it her all until
she collapsed from exhaustion. She
decided to turn and face her friend. Her
stance had shifted from offense to defense and her eyes had hardened. “I’m waiting, old friend…teach me if you
like. They tell me I’m a fast learner.” She smirked slightly, putting on an air of
confidence, even though she thought she was facing her doom.


If I can go on defense
and try to dodge, it just might work, but then there’s the problem of how long
my Byakugan will last in this condition.
I take it he still does not know that my Kekkei Genkai is not yet
complete. Her thoughts swirled in
her head as she tried to come up with a plan for a counter attack or a next
step she could take that might delay her pain.
Her teeth were gritted and her jaw was set in a firm line. Her entire body was ready. Despite having not trained for a while, she
hoped Navi could see change had come to her.
Even she herself couldn’t put her finger on what it was that had changed
within her, but for some reason, she had a feeling that whatever it was
revolved around the Hokage.
