First Meeting (Ayama and Navi) [Private, No Kill]

Navi hadn't bothered to put on his ANBU cloak or mask while out on border inspection, and instead opted to wear his standard Jounin attire. He walked slowly with his hands in his pockets taking a leisurely walk along the Sand Village border/outskirts. The wind tossed the grass and dusty terrain back and forth as he walked through the massive clearing. Around the field was a few clusters of trees and a couple rough paths.

His mind had been numbed by all of the ANBU missions be had been tasked with lately, and his only chance for a break was taking a walk under the guise of "patrolling the border". He still kept his senses sharp however, as an ANBU could never let their guard down.

Navi suddenly stopped, somewhere nearby he sensed someone. His eyes narrowed and as a precaution he gripped the hilt of a sword on his back and waited for them to appear.

Ayama may have been a sand ninja, trained in the vast open desert, but she had been raised in many other environments. Her time in the village had gotten her used to the complete lack of color, and the significant amount of open space but she would always remember those travels with her father. From the far north, where snowy mountains presided, to the deep south where endless expanses of grassland met the sea she had trekked. Now and again the openness disturbed her, the lack of easy cover made her twitchy. So on days like today when all that open sky began to weigh heavy on her she would trek to the Wind countries border with Fire. There she could find the trees and cover to alleviate the endless sky.

Today she sat in the tree itself, carving a picture into a piece of bark with the blade in her braid. It showed a great likeness to a cat of some sort, not a specific cat, she was just doodling. Suddenly her head snapped up and her hand flew to her hip where a sword lay. Grasping the hilt she scanned the surrounding area and once again the chakra signature lit up like a star on her radar. She frowned, trying to get a better handle on the unknown ninja's power level when the... thing that had resided in the back of her mind since her father's death flipped out. It began to bash itself against her mental wards, screaming something garbled to her. Her frown deepened and she opened her mind up just enough to get her inner ear blasted out with repetitions of "RUN DANGER DANGER RUN FOR YOUR LIFE". Maybe if someone else, anyone else had been there to tell her to run she would have. But Ayama made sure to ignore anything and everything the presence said or did. Which is why she released her sword, bounced through the trees and landed about five yards from the
newcomer.

Noting the leaf insignia on his protector, she crossed her arms to flash her own sand insignia at him. She smirked, exude confidence, after all how much harm could a kid about the same age as herself do? Jounin or not he was still a leaf after all.

"Well hello little leaf nin what brings you all the way out here" she giggled, her slitted pupils flashing in the light and her smile turning intimidating and predatory.

[Wow that was really good, although you don't have a sword yet unless you bought one or made one (ill give you one later if you'd life) A blade in your braid is alright for CD, but if you use it in a fight against someone people are going to say you never made it and get mad. XD]

Navi sensed her for awhile while he walked closer and closer. Eventually she sensed him and surprisingly decided not to run. Most ninja would flee when they even sensed the presence of Navi, but the one seemed different. After a few moments the girl appeared, bounding off a tree and landing about five yards in front of him. Navi relaxed a little when she saw it was a sand ninja, and not a rogue ninja preparing to ambush him.

The relationship between the leaf and sand was tense, they had united to fight the Sky Nation in the war, but distrust still remained between them. Navi himself was extremely untrustworthy of everyone who wasn't a leaf ninja, and prejudice to outsiders.

Navi let go of the hilt of his sword though, a sand genin was like an insect that he could crush without looking. Navi sensed her power level and a slight smile parted his lips as he observe her puny power level. There was no reason he would need to exert himself if she attacked him. Navi preferred not to kill a sand ninja if at all possible though, in order to maintain non-hostile relations between the two villages. He sighed for a moment as the tiny clouds of dust where she had landed settled around her feet.

"Well hello little leaf nin what brings you all the way out here?"

Something about the way she said it irritated Navi, she seemed demeaning and disrespectful as she giggled between the words. Then her eyes narrowed and her gaze became predatory at what seemed to be an attempt at intimidation. Navi maintained a stoic demeanor and didn't show even a flicker of emotion. He closed his eyes briefly, and then reopened them slowly. Inside his eyes was the Navagan, an incredibly powerful and intimidating dojutsu that gave Navi legendary abilities. If this girl wanted to start an intimidation match, Navi would respond accordingly. Just to give her a slight scare, Navi also focused a small bit of his chakra, summoning forth a portion his immense power. If she was detecting or observing his chakra, it would seem like a tailed beast was standing in front of her.

"What do you want, Sand Ninja?" Navi said with a mixture of irritation and boredom in his voice.

Ayama was a brave girl, you had to be to try and lie to a whole village about your past. She had seen and done things that most people her age shivered to think about. She had been there the night her father had died in the clutches of his own jutsu, felt the dark oppression it had conjured. Ayama was very brave, and not easily intimated.

That being said she now wished she had listened to the presence. Most people were slightly unbalanced by her eyes, they weren't normal at all. But this leaf nin had barely batted an eyelash. Well he had closed his eyes, only to reopen them to show off a pair of Doujutsued eyes. He then continued on to release some of his chakra filling the air with his intimidating presence. She felt some of the blood drain from her face and her left foot shifted back a step, her arms dropping to her sides. The presence was going nuts in the back of her mind, panicking fully and its fear was leaking into her own mind. Snarling inwardly she clamped down hard on both her own fear and the presence's terror gagging it and pushing it away. She steadied her body taking a deep breathe before raising her hands level to her head allowing a tense half smile onto her face.

"What do you want, Sand Ninja?" Navi said with a mixture of irritation and boredom in his voice.

"Whoa man," she said making her smile more honest "no need to freak out, a girl cant say hi to the guy walking around in the middle of nowhere?"

Her expression changed and her attempt at being intimidating retreated back to a pale and slightly terrified girl. Navi let his chakra settle and blinked his eyes slowly, causing the Navagan to slowly fade from his eyes. He let his shoulders and demeanor relax, the irritation fading from his mind and settling into boredom. So all she wanted to do was say hi?

Navi put his hands back in his pockets and continued walking, brushing past her with a bored expression as if she didn't even exist. His mind wandered and he already forgot about the insignificant sand ninja before he was even a yard away from her. Something stopped him though, a strange presence that he could barely sense. As Navi focused on the strange presence it became clearer, revealing a strange and dark nature. It was something very alarming that Navi hadn't sensed before, despite all of his mission and battle experience.

Navi flicked his wrist and a kunai slipped into the grasp of his right hand. His Navagan blinking back into his eyes as he looked side to side focusing for the source. The darkness seemed to be radiating from this girl...

Her words had placated him, the leaf nin had relaxed. Ayama remained tense though, the presence was still railing away in the back of her head and the other ninja was still within striking distance. But as his hands tucked neatly into his pockets and he proceeded to stroll past her, she relaxed. He had lost interest, deemed her insignificant. Sure it was a bit insulting to be thought so little of, but Ayama knew when to sacrifice her pride.

Especially when her potential opponent was so far out of her league he wasn't even in her orbit. Turning away with a sigh she rubbed her temples fighting back a growing headache.

"What is wrong with you? Why are you flipping your shit?" she snarled mentally at the presence lifting the barriers that blocked it from her mind. Almost immediately she felt it swell in the back of her mind, filling a niche she hadn't even known was empty.

"whats wrong with me?! Whats wrong with you? I tell you to run and instead you go towards the danger! You have less sense than a newborn kit!" she growled audibly at the creatures tone. What right did it have to be so rude? It was a figment in the back of her mind, a shadow that had no body. She gathered her mind and began to shove the thing back into its cage. It fought suddenly lashing out with what little mental strength it had.

"no wait wait i was trying to warn you! I think he can sense me!!"

She froze as the same menacing chakra washed over her, ignoring the thing in her mind she slowly turned to see the leaf ninja had gone rigid once more. Her eyes darted to the kunai in his hand and she would hazard a guess that his eyes were activated once more. He could sense the presence! How could he sense the presence?

"Let me out! I can help you!" The thing was pleading, its fear contaminating her mind. But she shook her head slightly, her hand wandering towards her kunai pack her eyes fixed on the nin.

There was no mistaking it, a strange dark chakra was coming from this girl, and it certainly wasn't her own. When Navi focused hard enough, he could see it was thickest around her necklace, but even with his Navagan eyes he had to strain to see it. The power was certainly immense, but it seemed to be being suppressed or locked up somehow. She had to be a jinchuriki of some sort. Navi wouldn't wait around, he needed to gauge her power and investigate.

Navi vanished from view, with such incredible speed the normal human eye wouldn't be able to track him. He appeared behind the girl and slammed his left hand across the back of her head with enough force to cause her spinning forward and land on her back. The attack would be impossible to dodge in almost any circumstance due to his extreme speed advantage. Immediately he would be crouched over her, kunai in his right hand and his left hand gripping her throat. The entire movement would happen in under a second, to the point where if she blinked he would already be crouched over her. He poked the necklace gently with his kunai knife, curious, but remaining on his guard.

"Talk," Navi said authoritatively "Why is a jinchuriki out on the country border, and if you're not a jinchuriki then what is this dark chakra?"

The leaf nin studied her with his strange Doujutsu his face completely blank. She couldn't tell what his intentions were and it was making her twitchy. Her finger was just starting to grab the only kunai she had packed for this escapade. Something she was thoroughly berating herself for now. When the leaf nin vanished.

"SHIT!" she yelped, tugging on the kunai just as something collided with the back of her head. The sky and earth alternated dizzyingly as she spun before she fell heavily to the ground. Blinking her eyes rapidly trying to clear the fuzziness from her newly damaged brain she squinted against the sun. Then the nin was leaning over her, a kunai pressed to her throat. He prodded her necklace curiously and she felt a little curiosity of her own at the gesture. What was he after?

"Talk," Navi said authoritatively "Why is a jinchuriki out on the
country border, and if you're not a jinchuriki then what is this dark
chakra?"

For a brief moment she hadn't registered his words. It was just to ridiculous. Who in their right mind could mistake her as a powerful jinchuriki?

Her laughter rang loud and clear through the air. "you" another bout of laughter "you think IM a JINCHURIKI?" the incredulity in her voice couldn't have been clearer and it was swiftly followed by more laughter. It took about a minute for Ayama to rein in her mirth and as her last giggles faded she adopted a slightly bemused expression.

"Really I'm flattered, I've never had anyone complement me in such a way," she said lightly but her smile was fading fast, thinning into a stern line. "As for this dark chakra, I have no idea what you are talking about"

Navi's face twisted into confusion as she laughed. Was something he said funny?

Navi's demeanor returned to its irritated phase as he tightened his grip on his knife. "You don't know what I'm talking about huh?"

Navi lifted her head slightly by her throat and slipped the knife dangerously close to her neck, before plucking the string of the pendant on her necklace and taking it from her neck. Navi studied it closely, before realizing that the dark chakra seemed to be connected from the pendant to her. Navi experimented briefly, holding the necklace farther away and watching as the bond between her and the necklace grew weaker.

"This..." Navi began, tapping the necklace with his kunai knife. "Where did you get it?"

It had been worth the laughter to see the confusion on the ninja's face. But the worth dropped some when he didn't buy her evasion of his other question. Honestly what right did he have to go prying in her business? Although, as he pressed the knife dangerously close to her throat she reconsidered that stand. Dying was not really on the agenda for today, and dying without even a fight? Nope, if she was gonna go down she was going down hard.

Suddenly he cut the string to her necklace and pulled it back, studying it. For the first time ever, her and the presence agreed on something. Her eyes narrowed as did her pupils, and her lips raised to bare her blunt teeth in a feral snarl.

"What the hell! Give that back" she growled, her voice rough with her attempts to control her fury. How DARE he. How dare he touch her necklace. It was HERS and he had no right. Then he tapped the necklace with his kunai causing a low snarl to rumble from between her teeth.

"This..." Navi began, tapping the necklace with his kunai knife. "Where did you get it?"

"My father gave it to me," she snarled "and you are going to give it back."
