Sanji perused the file briefly before nodding in affirmation to say he'll take this mission. Looking at the locations that had been hit already by the thief, looking for some pattern. Certainly the households afflicted were typically wealthy. He also noticed one common thread - the homes were all just south of a major drainage system. He knew this because he walked right through that area daily while going to the training grounds. He almost hoped that the thief wasn't using such a place to surreptitiously transport his ill-gotten gains, but just to be sure Sanji decided to wait until nightfall to stake out the entrance to that particular sewer.
While he had time to kill he went to the homes of those who had lost their precious pieces of art and spoke with them, gathering whatever information he could on the matter. Armed with the knowledge of the thief's infiltration preference and his ideal operating hours, Sanji asked one of the residents who had a view from his home if he could stay there that night to keep an eye on the suspected exfiltration point. Once granted permission he set up shop in an unused bedroom. The owner of the home was even kind enough to bring him dinner. Sanji ate and relaxed but he didn't dare tear his eyes away from the window.
A few hours later he saw some movement, though faint due to the individual's dark clothing, he could make out someone preparing to enter the sewer. Opening the window silently he lept down to the surface, quickly pulling a kunai from his pouch and silently running up behind him." Meeting your date down there?" He asks as he holds the kunai's blade against exposed neck flesh. The thief stiffened and raised his hands as Sanji crudely rubbed the razor sharp edge against his neck, as if shaving him at first, then he made a little nick in his neck." You aren't talking yet, guess I'll just keep cutting..." he says. The thief stammers as he says "Alright stop! I'll do anything! Just don't kill me, please!" he says." Hmm..." said Sanji." Nope, I'd rather kill you." he says, messing with the thief's head." Unless you're a good boy and you bring me everything you stole. I found you this easily, if you try to get away I won't hesitate in carving your head from your shoulders as slowly as I please."
Within 7 minutes, Sanji's feet were surrounded by ill-gotten art pieces, and best of all he didn't have to go into the sewer himself. The thief smelled utterly putrid by this time." This is all of it? Or do you want to go for another swim?" said Sanji. The thief replied," Yes! That's all! I swear it!" It was then that Sanji's gaze softened and he looked at the thief in the eye." I don't know why you did it, whether there was sufficient motive or you're a simple thief who wants a quick buck. I don't care at this point. I'm going to speak on your behalf ONLY if you help me return these where they belong. It won't exonerate you but maybe it'll save you some time behind bars and worse punishments." When that was settled Sanji and the thief went from house to house, returning everything before Sanji took the thief to the proper authorities." This is your art thief, but don't be too hard on him. He put up no struggle and personally assisted me in returning the stolen items." With that said he looked at the one in charge, and before he could speak a word, a letter signifying a successful mission was in his hands. With all that done all that was left was to take that letter in and collect his reward for a mission well done.
