The Caravan emerged from a thicket, the cattle rumbling as they plodded along. The overcast sky, rumbled along with them threatening rain and bad visibility.
Ayama stalked a little to the front of the caravan, her pale blue cloak rippling around her legs. The thing was wrapped around her head and body, concealing any identifying features. Only her eyes and nose peaked out, the icy blue orbs darting left and right as she scanned the landscape and eyed the town.
As the Caravan pulled into the town they came to a halt, one of the merchants getting out on the pretense of business. She eyed him neutrally, watching his back as he went into the inn before turning to survey the town. Underneath her cloak she crossed her arms, settling her weight on one foot to wait for her partner Vretyel. Once he arrived the Caravan could move out to Skyscraper village.

Vretyel was already at the town when the Caravan arrived; he had spent the night in the inn and then gotten up and waited in the inn for the group to arrive. He was excited that Ayama was on this mission as well, because it would become another successful mission for the new fire nation team, while he was thinking he often thought about the other two genin who were also supposed to be doing missions with Navi. Damballa and Habee, he had not seen either of them in a while, and was concerned for the safety of Habee as he had not been in the village for quite some time. HE also knew that it would not be for a mission as Navi has had other important work to attend to. Vretyel then looked up from his trance and noticed the head of the caravan come into the building, he was a tall, old looking man with grey hair and had probably been doing this for a while because as soon as he came in the inn owner brightened up with joy, implying that the two had known each other for a while.
After the inn owner and the caravan leader were done doing their affairs Vretyel then spoke to the man, telling him that he and the other girl were going to be his guide for ride, and that if any person tried to attack the caravan they would be ready to kill them on sight. The man agreed and they both walked out to the wagons. As he looked out he saw Ayama just standing there with her uninterested expression waiting for the two of them to get out. It had looked as though she had been standing there for quite some time even before they got out, so Vretyel then realized how long this journey could possibly take. If this man had to stop in every town doing the same thing over and over again then they could take days in order to get to the village of skyscrapers.
Vretyel stood in the back of the wagon caravan while Ayama stood in the front, making sure that pace was kept and that all angles were covered in case of attack. As the got out of the land of fire the trees began to thin out and open fields began to cover the landscape. It became clear that an ambush would be unlikely, but not impossible now. It was easy for people to hide in the brush, waiting for unexpected prey. At one point in the journey the caravan had to stop to give the horses some rest. They were on a road that had fields of grass on both sides so that the wagons were only small enough to pass through with a few inches to spare. Something was not right about this field though.

Ayama hugged the cloak closer to her body, giving Vretyel a small nod and a smile. Not that he could see it, the cloaks mask was pulled up. Soon enough the Leader of the caravan came back, and climbed up into the leader wagon. He shouted in a friendly manner waving with a smile and then signaled the other wagons to move forward. She started along at an easy pace, keeping all her enhanced senses alert. At the same time the sky rumbled ominously again, a chilly wind starting up.
“It’s fucking cold,” she hissed to herself, wrapping the cloak tighter around herself. The thing was supposed to help block vicious desert winds and keep a ninja warm when the temperature dropped but it couldn’t seem to hold up very well against the chill today. Hissing in frustration she was shifting the way it sat on her shoulders when a peculiar scent crossed her nose. She froze mid-stride, taking deep breaths in an attempt to locate and identify the smell. She couldn’t locate it but the smell was unmistakable. The combination of ash, sweat and greed was one she could easily identify.
“BANDITS!” she yelled, grabbing her cloak and flinging it away, drawing her sword. The caravans halted While at the same time six ninja burst from the grass. They were mostly low rank barely even on the scale as ninja, but the two fair-haired leaders with the slashed forehead protectors were high ranked genin level at least. The first one performed a quick set of hand signs and spewed fire at the middle wagon. A Kanton user then, fantastic.
Drawing her sword and sending lightning through it she turned to face two of the low ranking ones who were advancing towards her. She smirked at the awkward way they held their kunai and deftly spun her sword. Oh, this would be interesting.

Wonderful, Vretyel thought, we got some bandits on our hands, this is great, when we thought that this was just going to be an easy mission, but no, we have to get attacked by bandits. Vretyel changed his hands which in turn had changed his Bo staff Crimson, now it was time for Vretyel to show Ayama just how strong he was by killing this fire ninja. Excellent, Vretyel thought, a fire user, this will be a good test to see just how good my staff is with other types of chakra. From the fighting and all the training that Vretyel had gone through he had learned that his staff could absorb lightning chakra and dispel water charka, giving it more power. But with fire he was curious to see what it would actually do, and not only that, he wanted to show Ayama that he was as powerful if not more powerful than her still. As Vretyel saw the fire coming towards the second wagon Vretyel stopped it with his Bo Staff in its tracks.
Vretyel did not realize just how powerful his staff was, since the fire was weak he was able to absorb the coming chakra fire and put it into his bo staff without any damage to himself or the staff. The genin missing ninja was in shock and in disarray at the fact that probably his most powerful move was taken down so easily. As Ayama was dealing with the other enemies around the wagon Vretyel dealt with the fire genin.
“We strike as one.” Vretyel said, and at that moment both Ayama and Vretyel attacked the two leaders.
Vretyel just went running for the fire genin, he was way faster than the man and was able to get there in a speedy time, and when he got there he tried to land a punch at Vretyel, but Vretyel caught it with his hand.
“Waste of time.” Vretyel said, as he shocked the hand, first burning it, and then sqeezing with all his might. Vretyel crushed the hand in a second, turning all the bones in his hand into powder because of his superior strength. He would never use that hand again in combat, after that Vretyel did a sweep with Crimson to his center while still holding the hand. There was so much force in it that when he hit the man and he went flying away, his arm from his elbow down ripped apart from his body.
“Hey Ayama, need a hand?”

She moved with incredible speed and efficiency, signs of her training with Navi. Her blade a flicker of silver lightning as she rained death upon the two opponents. She was toying with them, like a cat with a juicy mouse. She moved slower than usual, pulling her strikes so the nin could block her blade. Each time their kunai touched her blade a small shock, equal to a bee sting, hit their palms. But as soon as the fear shown in their eyes and the second one stepped back as if to flee she quit her games and moved in for the kill. The second nin was easy, his stance faltering as he moved for a retreat. She sword decapitated him with ease. The other ninja gasped in shock at the sudden ease with which she’d dispatched his partner and poured more chakra into his legs attempting to improve his speed. It wasn’t enough, the instant their blades touched he went rigid, her lightning chakra having been increased. He crumpled and his life was ended with a swift stab to the heart.
Looking up she took in Vretyel equally quick, though much less clean take down of the first leader. His brother had vanished from his position to attack and was crouched by his now armless sibling’s side. She chuckled lightly at Vretyel’s pun.
“Nah man, I’ve got two of my own, though he looks like he could use it,” she said gesturing with her sword. The bandit snarled, fury bright in his eyes. But we was obviously smarter than his sibling for she scooped up the bleeding man and vanished into the trees. His four remaining subordinates, obviously disturbed by the ease with which the two genin had killed their comrades, fled as well. Briefly she entertained the idea of chasing them down before waving it off. The Caravan was their first priority.
“Not worth it,” she said to Vretyel, “Lets get these carts on the road so we can get home before that storm breaks.” she nodded towards the sky before turning and heading towards her discarded cloak, snatching up and clothe and returning it to her shoulders.

“Not worth it,” she said to Vretyel, “Lets get these carts on the road so we can get home before that storm breaks.” she nodded towards the sky before turning and heading towards her discarded cloak, snatching up and clothe and returning it to her shoulders.
I thought she would have liked my Joke more, Vretyel thought, I thought that she may have actually used the hand, that would be funny! Vretyel chuckled at the thoughts of his own brilliance and went onto obliterating the arm with his Bo Staff. The man was surely dead but just to make sure nothing would happen he crushed it and put it into a hole.
Vretyel agreed with Ayama on the regard of not going after the other members of the Ambush, they needed to get on the road and now that two genin seemed to have easily taken out their leaders they would not dare try to attack us at almost half their strength. Not only that but she was right about the storm coming into the area, that would be a bad thing if they got caught it, they would have to dig the wagon out of many holes and push the wagon through mud, and that would waste even more time. If this band of thugs got back to their hideout and they actually were just a small part of a bigger criminal organization it could mean trouble if they got stuck so many times.
'For once you are right, Ayama, we need to move, I will push the wagon if need be, but we need to move, are you ready to go?" nodding to the caravan leader. He nodded back almost instantly and the wagon began to move to its destination again. Ayama and Vretyel had made a great team back there and he was happy that they were able to fend off the ninja so easily, that is the reason why they were assigned to this fire nation team. If we look at all the other ninja in the village we are probably the most gifted genin coming out the sand and the leaf at this time, Vretyel thought, and I expect more great things from the both of us in the future.
As they walked more and onward to their destination of Skyscraper village and got out the land of fire Vretyel wondered all about the wonders of this village, he had never been and only had been told stories about it by the caravan leader. They reached their destination in over two days and thankfully the missing criminals did not return to try to ambush again. That was a good thing too, because even though they did get a move on to getting to the village it rained almost the entire ride, that was something that Vretyel was not very fond of, but the rain was good. As Ayama, Vretyel, and the caravan reached the gates of the village, the man paid us upfront and told us to get back to the leaf village as soon as possible. The rain was starting to get annoying. Ayama and Vretyel would use some of the money to stay at a small inn the next night and then the split of again at Tanzaku town.

They stayed a night in the inn. Ayama headed home the next day pleased with the mission and her and Vretyel's performance. She would have little need for ryo if they continued on like this.
