Find the Camp ( Navi, Vretyel, P)
Sat Oct 27, 2012 10:16 am
Mission Name:Find the camp.
Rank:S-Rank
Type:Intel
Character Requirements:
Word Count Requirements:5,000
Repeatable?Yes.
Reward: 8,000 Ryo.
Task:
Rumors have begun to spread about a new criminal orginisation, your mission is to find the source of these rumors and confirm what is fact.
Once this is done you are required to find the camp where these criminals are currently stationed and report back.
Vretyel was waiting at the teams usual spot when they were waiting to do a mission with the conjoined fire nation team, he had hoped that after a few more weeks of training and some more discovery about his clan Vretyel would be able to contribute to this mission much more than the ones that that he had done before. Navi had told him earlier that this mission was going to be more about discovery than it was about fighting anybody, but he did not know who he was going to be fighting yet.
Although all of these thoughts made his heart pound with exictment he was beginning to get a little worried about Ayama. She had always been on to be early to any event, especially to a mission, but today she was running late. IT had been common for Navi to have a "Important" errand to run for the hidden leaf, but it was not like Ayama to be late. Who knows, Vretyel thought, I guess she did say that she was doing a paper on her research about clans or something like that. I wonder if she is even coming, Vretyel thought.

Navi would seemingly materialize from a show of raw speed, appearing a few meters in front of Vretyel with his hands in his pockets and modified Jounin attire on. He had heard that Ayama wouldn't be accompanying them on this mission, which Navi had mixed feelings on. Vretyel had clearly jumped in the ranks far more quickly then Ayama, which meant he could probably handle himself better. Still, if Ayama had come he could have recommended her for Chuunin early, which would have been valuable for her ninja career.
With a sigh Navi would inform Vretyel of this, speaking with a bored tone to his voice.
"It'll just be me and you today on the mission, we have plenty of walking and not a lot of time, so lets start on the road."
Navi would begin walking in the direction of their mission destination, and motion for Vretyel to follow. Assuming Vretyel followed him, he would begin to explain the mission.
"Rumors have begun to spread about a new criminal organisation, our mission is to find the source of these rumors and confirm what is fact. Once this is done we are required to find the camp where these criminals are currently stationed and report back. This mission is observation and surveying, not combat. Once we have the intel, we will fall back and make the necessary reports, not engage the hostiles. This is an S-rank mission, and you are being given a great opportunity in being chose to undertake it. I know you recently hit Chuunin Vretyel, but don't be over confident. Perform well here and I'll send word through to have you promoted to Jounin."
Navi would continue walking with his hands in his pockets, they had a great distance ahead of them to travel, and the walk would surely get boring without anything to do or much to talk about. He quickly fell silent and remained ready to answer any questions that Vretyel might have.

"I understand the intensity of the situation. We are always threatened by outside forces that would want to destroy the leaf either through political, physical, or other more sinister ways. They need to be taken down I agree, let’s go. I will not fail you now Navi, I know what is at stake, for me, and for the leaf.”
And with that the two leaf ninja went on their way to the location of the camp, if I do well, I become a Jounin? Vretyel thought to himself, that would make me an extremely young Jounin, and that would mean I would have much more influence over what missions I take and what abilities I can do, I must not fail and I must become the ninja that I am worthy of becoming. With that thought Vretyel thought of another thing that he needed to ask Navi. Since he was never assigned a team to begin Vretyel had always regarded Navi as his Sensei if nothing else, and through the many missions that the two had completed he felt like he bonded ever so slightly with the Jounin of the leaf, he felt like he could trust Navi with the most sensitive information that Vretyel had at the moment.
“While we go to the mission, I have a request. My surname is that of the Inazumahi clan, the proud group of warriors that lived in Konoha over 50 years ago and emerged during the eruption of the great super volcano. I am not the last of my clan, but I know nothing about my own clan, nor were any of the members of the clan are, except for my father. The only thing that I have linking me to the clan’s past would be this book that I carry around with me. It is said to contain the entirety of the jutsu, weapons, history, and members of the clan. The only problem is that, well I cannot open it. You are the wielder of something legendary, I don’t know what, but I am told you know of a way to read chakra and you could possibly open this book, after the mission, would you mind staying with me and taking a look?’
With that off of his chest Vretyel waited for Navi’s response. As they were running towards the destination of the camp they finally got to it only an hour later. Then they could see it in the horizon, but we needed more information that we could only get if we got much closer to the camp. From what Vretyel had seen was that they had 7 guards guarding the entrances, all of them presumably had missing ninja headbands, but would not believe that any of them would be above chuunin level. One of the guards he saw had to cover two doors, but that was the only weakness that the saw of the camp in this close range. The only problem was that it was the middle of the day so that would be an added challenge. He waited for Navi’s exact orders on what to do, if they decided to wait and look from Afar that could mean time for Navi to look at Vretyels book, the book the Inazumahi.

Navi didn't respond, but instead looked with a bored gaze into the distance with his hands in his pockets as he listened to Vretyel speak. The boy was still very young, but he had made remarkable process in his short time of being a ninja. It seemed that many Leaf ninja were capable of incredible process in a very short amount of time. He contemplated the progress of Vretyel in comparison of Ayama and shrugged to himself. Many Leaf ninja seemed to have natural talent as ninja, it was a strange thing to see so many young ninja have so much talent.
As they would draw close to their mission target Navi would doze off in his mind a bit, leaving his teammate in silence as he walked next to him.
“While we go to the mission, I have a request. My surname is that of the Inazumahi clan, the proud group of warriors that lived in Konoha over 50 years ago and emerged during the eruption of the great super volcano. Navi looked over at Vretyel as he broke the silence, his dull gaze resting on the boy. As the boy explained his situation Navi would think over his proposal for a few moments. Clan history was very important, and a book written in chakra signatures had to be special. Admittedly his curiosity had been piqued, and Navi would agree to help the boy out with his dilemma.
"Hm, alright I'll take a look I guess. Not now though, when we make contact we'll have a lot of time to wait before nightfall comes. Until then we should stay silent as we're now most likely in enemy watched territory. We can hole up and take a look at that book of yours this evening."
Then they could see it in the horizon, but we needed more information that we could only get if we got much closer to the camp. Navi tensed a moment as he dashed behind a tree and motioned for Vretyel to follow. The guards were Chuunin level by the looks of their chakra signature, and Navi had been given explicit instructions to not engage the hostiles if possible. Instead Navi remained concealed and decided to stick to the original plan of waiting for nightfall to come. As they were over 100 meters away from the camp, they would not need to worry about there voices being heard as long as they stayed quiet and out of sight through reason.
As they would be hiding in the undergrowth, Navi would lean against a tree, looking up at the sky and waiting for the sun to set.
"Alright Vretyel," Navi would say "Lets take a look at that book of yours."
His Navagan eyes would blink on and the signature red symbol would appear in the middle of each of them. The secrets of this boy's clan would rest in that book, and Navi would be interested in seeing a book that only a few eyes were meant to read.

"Alright Vretyel," Navi would say "Lets take a look at that book of yours."
Those words, uttered to Vretyel as they waited for night fall, would be the most important words that Vretyel had ever heard in his lifetime thus far. It would mean that all the secrets of the clan could possibly be revealed in just a matter of minutes. Vreytel took the book out of his satchel and would begin the process of handing it over to Navi. The book was bigger than the average sized book becuase of all the potential information that was held inside of it, and if it were not for Vretyels use of a Bo Staff compared to several small weapons it would not be able to fit into his satchel. Vretyel recognized the symbol of the Inazumahi completely. The ring of fire bisected by a lightning bolt would strike even more intensity into the matter. The symbol was huge, about the size of the front cover of the book itself, although with the age of the book was reinforced with metal plating to keep it from falling. "The Symbol is even older than the clan itself" Vretyel added as he was taking out the book.
On the spine of the book there was another small symbol of the inazumahis on the top and bottom but in the middle there was clearly writing that any person could see. Upon seeing these words Vretyel felt as though it was necessary for him to recite them to Navi, as they were currently an important part of the current knowledge Vretyel had to his clan. Once he said those words his body was given goosebumps:
"From the fire emerges power, from the lightning emerges justice. Together as one they become Inazumahi, justice is power." Although they would have very little meaning to many people they meant everything to Vretyel, as he has lived his entire life for these words, hoping that one day he would be worthy enough to have the power to give justice. Mabye one day, Vretyel thought....
"Maybe one day I will be worthy of those words..." Vretyel said. It was true that he was happy with his progress so far, but he was not completely happy. He had to ask for the help of another, Navi, to even open the book to his clan. At this time he started to doubt his decision. What if there is a power inside me that I don't know about? What I spill dark secrets of the clan right onto Navi's lap, what if I give the world the secrets of the Inazumahi jutsu and ability. He wanted to trust Navi, but he just did not know. Vretyel now tensed up completely, looking more like a statue than a human.
He reluctantly forced himself to give the book to Navi, now have doubts about everything he hesitated letting go of the book and giving complete control of it to Navi. What if he just runs away in a flash like he always does? Vretyel thought. What if I lose my only link to my past?
"This book Navi, this is everything to me. Without it my entire existence is threatened. Please understand the importance of this. Without this book, I am nothing." Vretyel said as he let go of the book, giving it to Navi after a minute of hold the book in transition.
As he gave the book to Navi, it was done, there was nothing more that he could do unless the book required an Inazumahi to open it. He made sure that there were no more guards on their trail and kept watch whilst Navi took a look at the book. He used his vision to learn where inside the camp the enemy headquarters was and got a Glimpse of the Criminal leader. He saw the headband perfectly, a cloud ninja who went missing ninja. This guy must be Jounin or higher to be able to command a unit of such size. He also learned that the camp had an armory tent to the easternmost corner of the encampment and saw what looked like a meal area near the center of camp, near the headquarters. He saw only 12 ninja in total: 7 guarding the perimeters, 1 guarding the armory, the one leader, 2 guarding the headquarters, and two more scouting between the armory and the mess hall.
As he peered inside the encampment he saw one weakness in their integrity. They must of felt confident that flank could not be broken into, as there are no ninja guarding the area where they all sleep, and Vretyel did not see during his entire overview of the camp one ninja go in or out of that area. That was where the best spot would be to get in, Vretyel thought, be he could not know for absolute certainty. All of this making sure that Navi did not move or tamper with his book to excessively.
For now Vretyel looked back and focused his attention at Navi. Asking him the most dying question in his mind. Although he was exicted about the mission and the possibility of reaching Jounin, the book was his most important aspect of his life at the moment. Jounin could wait, Vretyel kept on telling himself.
"Did you find a way to open it, Navi Sensei." as it looked as though there might have been something that he did learn, using his legendary Navigan eyes to peer inside the secrets of the seal, and the book potentially.

"The Symbol is even older than the clan itself" Vretyel added as he was taking out the book.
Navi eyed the book with curiosity. His gaze would rest on the strange object and see several things. The entire book was actually giving off an aura of chakra. Navi kept silent though as he made some preliminary observations and Vretyel continued speaking.
Navi held the book with one hand by the binding. Playing with the cover in between his fingers and trying to open it physically a few times before giving up and deciding not to force it.
"This book Navi, this is everything to me. Without it my entire existence is threatened. Please understand the importance of this. Without this book, I am nothing." Vretyel said as he let go of the book, giving it to Navi after a minute of hold the book in transition.
He would nod and ignore the comment, already realizing how important this book was to the boy. Navi was in fact more interested in the contents, but realized that sharing them with Vretyel was important as well. Navi would study the book and twist it around a few times in his hands, his Navagan studying the entire thing top to bottom as Vretyel would focus on the bandit camp in front of them, counting guards and observing enemy defenses.
"Did you find a way to open it, Navi Sensei." as it looked as though there might have been something that he did learn, using his legendary Navigan eyes to peer inside the secrets of the seal, and the book potentially.
Navi sighed a moment and stared at the book as if deep in thought.
"Unfortunately I am not an expert in sealing jutsu or the breaking of them, so I don't think I could open this book properly.... However,"
Navi would flick his wrist, and in a blur of motion a hellfire kunai would appear in his grasp. After another moment he would focus his chakra into it, allowing a fire aura and point to glow around it and extend the blade. Second the blade would extend further and get sharper, the showing of wind chakra now being focused into it. Lastly small sparks of lightning chakra would blend with the other two, creating a kunai that gave off an intense aura of three blended chakras.
With a quick motion, Navi would stab down on the book, the chakra tip of his kunai knife clashing with the chakra aura that only his Navagan eye could see. However, the knife's chakra aura would be entirely visible, and the seal surrounding the book would be invisible to the normal eye until it was in contact with the opposing chakra. The knife would clash with the book, and for several moments the binding of the book would hold, as the cover spewed out small amounts of its defensive aura. As Navi pressed down, he was slowly breaking the seal on it.
A moment later the seal was broken, and Navi pocketed his knife after letting the chakra around it dissipate, smiling as he might have given Vretyel a scare. It was a rather unconventional way to break a seal, but in this case it seemed to work. With the gently movement of one of his fingers Navi opened the book to the first page, scanning it with his eyes. To the naked eye it would seem as if these pages were blank, however the chakra signatures were very much real.
Unfortunately, Navi had no idea what the book said, and looked with confusion as he flipped through all the pages. A dull look of lazy boredom fell upon his face as he looked over at Vretyel and realized what had happened.
"You clan doesn't happen to have an ancient language or something that there is no possible way I'd be able to read... right?"
The markings on each page would glow of chakra, only visible to chakra sensing dojutsu such as his Navagan eye. However, this would mean little at the moment since Navi couldn't read what was on the page anyway. He would take out a pencil and piece of paper in his lap, and begin tracing the exact symbols that were on the book in chakra signatures. After a minute or two of this Navi would hand Vretyel the piece of paper.
"That's what the first page says, have any idea what that means?"
Hopefully Vretyel would know the language or have a way to translate it in some way or another. Otherwise, they may as well stop trying right here. Whoever wrote this book clearly didn't want anyone to read it. They sealed it with jutsu, wrote only in chakra symbols, and in an ancient language. The amount of obstacles they put in the reader's path was unreal, and it almost piqued Navi's curiosity further.
He would observe Vretyel and his reaction to recent events before possibly continuing to translate more.

As Navi pressed down, he was slowly breaking the seal on it.
Vretyel could not believe his eyes, what did he just see? After Vretyel just gave him the speech of a lifetime saying that he did not want him to harm the book, the first thing that he does when he goes to look back at Navi was to take one of his kunai out, charge it with three different types of charka, and then attempt to slam it into the book. Vretyel just stood there in shock, now the mission was nothing to him, all that mattered was this book. He could feel his anger mounting, his chakra pulsating to his gloves, making them glow uncontrollably, and the only thing that was keeping Vretyel sane was the book. He knew that if he did anything drastic it could mean the end of the book and his life. Keeping it safe by any means other than watching the book would mean disaster at this point because it is impossible to get it from Navi, he is too fast and too powerful. When he realized how dire the situation was he began to think deeply about everything that he knew about himself and Navi.
Does he not know the severity of my situation, it took me my entire life to get my hands on the one book of my clan that I know exists and all he did was just, he just tried to stab my book with a Kunai knife! Does he not understand the importance of this book to me? He just did the one thing that I told him NOT to do, I told him to not harm the book and without the seal he would have just stabbed it with a chakra Kunai! What was he thinking? I thought he had the legendary Navagan that would see the seal and then he could break it. I mean even I could have done what he was doing and right now, all I can assume he is doing is taking a wild guess! I should listen to my instincts, I should have known that this man was going to be trouble and he just lured me in to destroy all that I know. He was not worthy of my respect, I thought that he was, and now, there is nothing that I can do. If I try to attack him then he will mark me as a missing ninja and try to kill me, possibly. Or he could just continue stabbing the book and destroy it if I do anything. I am such an idiot! I should have just waited until I found somebody of my clan before I did anything and not allow a snitch like Navi to destroy everything that I know. There is nothing that I can do now, my entire existence lies in the hands of what appears to be a madman, and he is going to destroy everything!
During this time Navi continued to attack the book with his Kunai, but he did seem to make progress, did he really know what he was doing? Vretyel contemplated to himself over and over again, not knowing the true answer. At the present time Vretyel knew nothing about chakra seals or chakra signatures, but knew that he could be making progress. During this time Vretyel did some more analytical and logical thinking.
Ok, I get what he is trying to do, just calm down. Calm down. He is the wielder of the legendary Navagan which would allow him to see chakra signatures, but the only thing that I don’t really understand is why he would need to use wind chakra. The clan’s main elements or Lightning and fire so would make sense that the seal that was covering be lightning or fire? I don’t know, maybe my father was the one to put it on. He was a smart man, and knew that I would probably never learn the wind element so that could be why. I just do not know at this point.
Then after some time, a breakthrough:
He did it! He broke the seal. Some way and somehow he was able to break the seal that was covering the book without actually destroying it. I don’t know what to think, Vretyel thought as he saw the book open for the first time. I don’t know what he is reading! I cannot see!
“Well what does it say” Vretyel said to Navi as it appeared that he read the first page of the book.
"You clan doesn't happen to have an ancient language or something that there is no possible way I'd be able to read... right?"
What does that mean? That he cannot read the writing. Could his ancestors have really guarded the book so well as to that they even wrote it in a secret language? Vretyel was puzzled for some time, thinking about all the possibilities that could have been.
Wait a minute Vretyel thought, that’s it! “I think I know what they will mean, Vretyel said. I acquired something earlier in me findings that may reveal what language it is.” At this point Vretyel trusted Navi more than ever, he was indebted to Navi for opening the book, and felt like it was only natural that he reveal this other piece of information.
“I know for certain what the third page of the book says. As I was doing some research on my clan via some of the elders of the village one of them gave the story of the super volcano eruption long ago. She gave me this story in two types of writing, one in our language, and another with completely new symbols or a scroll. If the symbols on the first page are similar to the ones that I have, then maybe there is hope on translating those symbols.”
"That's what the first page says, have any idea what that means?"
Vretyel took the piece of paper In Navis hand and took out the scroll with the same markings. They matched…..
“Now is not time unfortunately to go over the markings. Come and look.” As Vretyels attention knew now that he needed to be focused more on the mission than his own clan.

“Now is not time unfortunately to go over the markings. Come and look.” As Vretyels attention knew now that he needed to be focused more on the mission than his own clan.
Navi would gaze over at the camp with his eyes, his Navagan taking a moment to dark back and forth over the camp. After a few moments of noting and confirming the exact location of the camp, along with specific details, he would end the mission. He would hand Vretyel his book back, as it seemed like he had helped all he needed to for the time being. When he needed Navi again he would call, but for now it seemed that he had research to do.
"Our mission is through here, we need to head back to the leaf."
With that Navi would slip away in the darkness of night and beckon for Vretyel to follow. It had been a straightforward mission with a simple execution, and with the recon portion completed they would be able to head back home. Again he would reflect on how unfortunate it was that Ayama couldn't have joined them, but it seemed that Vretyel would grow through the experience in place of that. Navi would send word to promote the boy to Jounin, in recognition of his responsible actions and ninja capabilities.
