Anbandonend Toover (Solo Mission)

So, apparently it was morning already, right? And apparently Yozora did not sleep in her bed as she woke up on a couch in her living room. She remembered having spent good portion of the night laying there and watching the stars through the window. The fireplace was still warm, but there were no flames. The girl jumped up, her body was feeling, well, bad. As if she was sleeping on the floor instead of the couch. But it must have been worth it, else she would not have stayed there, but went to her bed which was obviously much more comfortable than the couch. But she didn't, so it must have been worth it. After stretching some the girl did the routing stuff around the house, made something to eat and then after gearing up stormed the hell out of the house. Alright, so she was starting to run low on money? It means time to do more missions. With her recent promotion to ANBU she expected to be put on a squad and be given the big missions, but for now she would look for some lower ranked ones to do by herself. Maybe C or B ranked - that seemed appropriate. For the time being as she did not yet receive an ANBU assignment she would act as a Jounin looking for something to do. So without a mask she walked into the main building where mission board was locating and where many people worked. After walking up to the board Yozora noticed one mission in the corner, it kind of looked different, maybe because of the distance between it and other assignments, but still. She started reading it, after a few lines she realized it was D ranked farm helping mission and dropped it. The next one was more interesting though - it was C ranked and it involved investigating strange sounds and screams reported from one of the abandoned towers in the outskirts of the village. This seemed a lot more exciting than those "helping" missions of E and D rank that Genin and Academy Students would do. This even suggested possible danger. Yozora reported taking that assignment and got out of all that chatter and noise. But before going straight to the tower, she decided to do some digging first. So she visited the archives, something she probably was not able to do while she was Genin, but Jounins commanded more respect and resources. So, she found out why the tower was abandoned and what was happening in it before it was. Apparently it was first built as a watch tower, when the village was smaller. Without any event really happening there, except one drunk watchman falling down to his death, the tower became a defense tower when the village expanded enough to reach to tower. At that point the tower was refitted, a basement was built. This fact was interesting, why would a defense tower need a basement? The documents suggested the reason was to store reserves there, or maybe war prisoners if it came to that. But who would store reserves in a defense tower right on the village border? And who would keep prisoners in such a tower, instead of the actual prison? It seemed weak logic as the point was quite open to an attack. Yozora then pulled records of personnel working in the tower at that time. When the upgrades were suggested, the one leading the defense team on the tower was named Ikari Tobimaru. Strangely but the record also said that three years later he was branded a criminal and a rogue ninja. Reported killed in action during a small skirmish a few years ago, when he led a small group of criminals into the village. The document did not detail much, but it seemed he died at the tower. Soon after that the tower was abandoned because the battle made it unstable and nobody bothered repairing it. After reading that, Yozora decided she learned enough about some crappy tower and left the archive building.

The girl was now moving on some lower buildings towards the edge of the village where her destination was located. She was thinking about what she had read back in the archive. Different versions and possibilities were spinning in her head, some of them were hardly possible, other more realistic. She decided that there was no point in guessing, she would just have to get there and see for herself. Shouldn't be anything an ANBU would not be able to handle, after all. With those thoughts she landed on the last building. The tower was right in front of her. She was analyzing it. The structure looked old and damaged, some parts were on a brink of falling off or collapsing. She looked at the barred entrance and windows. Breaking in through the main entrance seemed stupid if there was actually someone inside, because that would be the obvious point to guard. Her eyes would slide up the tower, reaching the top. There, at the very top - which was in ruin by the way, she saw one of the barred windows. If the tower was guarded, then hardly they would expect a break in at the top floor, especially when it looked it would crumble down at any moment. Deciding that, she put her weave mask on her face and jumped off the building onto the ground, then heading towards the tower and by focusing chakra at her feet, she started running up the tower wall. She was no interrupted and she did not hear any shouting or other sounds or alarm. In fact the tower continued to look abandoned and lifeless. When he reached the spot, she kicked open the window and got inside. The top floor was totally ruined - the roof was practically open and ready to fall off, there was water from rains on the floor and wherever was no wet, it was dusty. Simply put it was a ruin. But it was enough to recognize that this room was once an observation chamber and through the windows one could see pretty far even without any gear. Yozora walked through the middle of the room and opened a door leading out. The stairs were spiral, so she did not have to actually climb them. The floor below was dark and silent, the girl activated Meigan to see into the lightless room. This looked like an emergency armorery, there even were weapons left, but it did not seem to have been touched it a few years. Yozora picked one sword and partially unsheathed it to take a look at the blade. It was decent, not in the best shape, but not worthless either. At the very least it could be salvaged. The next floor contained what seemed to be living quarters, at least what was left of them. This room obviously had seen a battle or at least a struggle, though it was long ago. Now it was just useless scraps and dust. The following room looked like a dinning or even living room, if defense towers had something like that. It did not make much sense, though it was too abandoned in a long time. Yozora walked though the whole tower like this, without finding anything that meant somebody was living here. There were some situations, like getting a bit scared by a rat, which died immediately after that due to Yozora instantly cutting it into four pieces with her Flash Blade. Then there was the room which was probably the culprit of all the reports. It seemed to carry bigger part of the tower and apparently since the tower was in really bad shape, the weight to this room increase while its condition worsened. The room would make a loud noise every other minute. Finally Yozora reached the ground floor. Before leaving the tower she checked the entrance to the basement. It was sealed, no way somebody lived there. Not without having a secret entrance. In any case, the tower looked clean more or less and Yozora reported that back, also suggesting to send a team in to salvage whatever was worth salvaging and tear the place down ourselves before it come crashing down on civilians.
