Run Run Run Around

Lea arrived at the training ground, wiggling his toes to get some of the sand from between them. Lea hated shoes, but he would almost prefer wearing them to having sand stuck between his toes, almost. He shrugged looking at his dirty feet, it couldn't be helped. He started walking around the edge of the training grounds, thinking what to do first, how to train himself to be better. Before he knew it he had done a lap and a half around the grounds. With a slight laugh he picked up his pace a little. 'Might as well jog a few laps' he thought with a smile. Lea liked jogging. It was such a simple thing but it worked up a nice sweat. He jogged at a steady pace for a few laps, not pushing himself to much. 'Just a light warm up, now I'm ready for a run' Lea thought and broke into a brisk run.

Leander was running around the grounds but he still didn't feel like he was working out. So he decided to step up his game, push himself harder. 'Anything good comes from hard work' that is what his dad had told him once. He pushed himself until his legs ached, trying to take time off of each lap around the grounds. He was getting quicker but was also panting more with each lap. Then the laps started to get longer again as he tired. Slowly he came to a stop and bent down resting his hands on his knees. He breathed heavily in and out trying to catch his breath. 'Not good enough' he thought.

Leander inhaled quickly, startled by the voice. The drumming of his heart had been loud in his ears so he hadn't heard the young man approach. 'Would I have heard him anyways?' he wondered silently. Pushing off his knees he stood straight and looked up at Anko with a smile, trying to hide the small fright he'd given him. 
"I'm..Leander..Nice to..Meet you." Leander let out between big gulping breaths. 'Have to do more cardio' he chastised himself.

"No need to be sorry, I should really be more aware of my surroundings. I'm not used to training in public..I don't get out much, that may be why you haven't met me before." Leander answered finally catching his breath. He was looking Anko over now, trying to estimate his strength and abilities. Leander was a hopeless judge of character however and really didn't know what to look for. 
"I've never trained with someone else...but I'm not against trying" Leander said answering Anko's second question with a polite smile.
"...What do we do?" He then asked looking around the training grounds once again. A little of the smile faded into bewilderment.
Leander really hadn't been around people much and had never trained with anyone else. He didn't want to embarrass himself.

Leander would blush slightly at the mention of girls. The redness would fade as Anko continued to talk about sparring. Lea watched as his posture changed. Lea changed his own, trying his best to appear ready for a battle. He quickly glanced at his bare feet a few times, checking to make sure they were in the right spots. When he finally felt ready he looked up at the smirking face of Anko. Leander smiled back.
"Okay, a spar then. So if you're the guard, I'm the attacker then?" Leander asked. As he waited for the answer he would be looking over Anko's posture, trying to find a spot to launch an offensive blow first. He was almost as bad a judge of defense as he was character. 'I'll just wing it, maybe catch him by surprise' Lea thought. His smile faded a little and he started to look more serious and ready for the spar.

"Yes sir!" Anko would reply to Leander's question, "Be sure to give everything you got! I promise I won't hit back. Unless you use any sort of weaponry, the most I'll do is dodge. Now, prepare yourself!" Anko would reposition himself into his battle stance: arms bent with his hands held before his face, his hands in a chopping-like position, while his legs would stay straight, his feet firmly planted on the ground. Truthfully, Anko had never played the role of a guard before. Albeit, the only thing he wished to see for now was how strong the boy was, not thinking about how many bruises he may take in the process, or how many hits he'll take. He had plenty of time to counter those. "Show me your true colors...Leander." The Uchiha thought in his head, smiling brighter on the outside.

Leander was unsure if he should strike while Anko was changing his position again, it seemed like an opening. Figuring sparring was held to some type of honor code he didn't take advantage of the small opening. When Anko looked ready Leander took it as a sign the spar had begun. With Anko's hands high, covering his face, Lea decided to go low. He dropped into a crouching position and launched off his feet with all his might. He leaned his body to the right, bringing his left arm around in a swing as hard as he could. He aimed for Anko's right side. Despite never training with anyone, Lea had swung his share of punches. Mainly at rocks or boulders around his house. He was sure it would be a lot different with an opponent that could think and dodge. In his head he was already trying to plan his next move.
