Bjorn's first training session
Mon Oct 14, 2013 1:03 pm
Bjorn stared at the training grounds, where he spent so much of his time. Today would be another day spent here, and only here. He walked to the punching log, in an area with no one else. He did not like others watching him train; their eyes always made him uneasy.
He held out a fist to the log that stood upright, and slowly, pressed all of his weight into it. Then, after a pause, he switched arms. Once he had done this with both arms, he paused, and took a deep breath in.
With all his force and speed, Bjorn slammed his fist into the log, feeling the rough bark scratch his knuckles. Then, he pulled back his arm, and slammed his left fist into the log with the same force and speed. He never sped up, but instead, kept his punches at the same rhythm, the same intervals. Slamming one fist into the log as hard and fast as he could, then taking a seconds pause before pulling that fist back, and slamming the other into it. He did not keep count, but instead closed his eyes, and let the slow rhythm draw him in. He blocked out the pain from every punch where the bark cut his fist, and ignored the red spots now starting to appear on the log. After a while of punch after punch, each one with his full force, he stopped. He looked at the marks he had made on the log, then looked at the marks the log had made on him. He nodded, then moved onto his next training routine. He walked to the target practice with knives of all kind, and begun. At first, he chose a basic kunai knife, and started close to the target. He stood so close that it would be impossible to miss. As the knife flew from his hand, it struck the center of the target, as he expected. Bjorn retrieved the knife, went back to where he was standing, and then took one step back. Still, he was so close that he could not miss. Once the knife hit home, he retrieved it, went back to where he had been standing, and then took another step back. He continued this, throwing the knife, watching it hit the target, retrieving it, then taking a step backwards. At this point, he was at a fair distance from the target. When he threw the knife, it hit the target, but not in the center. After he retrieved it, he went back to where he had been standing, then took two steps forward, and resumed throwing the knife. After a while of this, he decided that it had been enough.
Now. He went to a number of little tree stumps in a row, each one further apart from the previous one.
He stood on the first one, and then crouched. He was glad that no one was around, because he must have looked ridiculous, crouching on a small tree stump only a foot tall. Then, he jumped, from the stump he was on to the one in front of him. He landed on one foot, and without wobbling at all. Of course, this stump was so close to the first one that they were almost touching. However, each stump was double the distance from the previous one. He then jumped to the next, again landing on one foot, and without wobbling. He continued to do this, until after landing on one foot, he almost fell, but managed to get his balance. He stepped off the stump, and went back to do the same jump again, and did this until he was able to do so without wobbling at all. He kept going at this until his legs were weak, and he decided it was enough.
