-Mission- Repair the bridge Empty -Mission- Repair the bridge

Thu Jan 16, 2014 1:42 pm
Spoiler:

This was such a gloomy day Sanada thought to himself as he made his way towards a rickety bridge that had been in ill-repair for quite some time now. The air was heavy as he breathed it in which made his lungs and chest feel labored as they worked harder to cycle oxygen in and monoxide out. It might have been because he was a smoker as well but he'd sooner perform a task without cutting corners than quit smoking. This was such a menial task and below what a chuunin should have to do, but it beat getting killed in a actual confrontation so Sanada was ok with menial.

As he made his way over the bridge once he made mental notes of where a few nails here and there had over time more than likely rusted out of the boards which caused them to squeal and squeak as they were walked on. There were also a few places where planks were missing entirely and how this hadn't been a safety concern in the past was baffling to the young man. Letting out an audible sigh of contempt for this job, he made his way over to the excess lumber and nails that were left by the previous construction crew. By this time he had already rolled up the sleeves on his white button up dress shirt to his elbows cuffing them so they wouldn't roll back down.

He had picked up a carpenters tool belt on his way to the site which held a hammer some measuring tape, a flat pencil, and some duct tape, why, well you always need duct tape of course. Better get to it I guess, if I ever want to get back to being lazy" he said while brushing his ruffled hair out of his left eye. Picking up a few nails he decided he would start by re-nailing all the boards that nails had begun to rust through. Knelling down he removed the hammer that had set loosely on his hip in it's holster he began pulling out the nails that were sticking out, taking care not to scratch himself with any of them, he didn't want to catch anything. With every screw and bolt he removed he placed them in the empty pouch that was on the front side of his tool belt before hammering down another screw in it's place.

Of course with every one he nailed back down he stood up and stepped on it a few times to ensure the problem had been fixed. When he had finished that part up it was time to move on to actually placing down boards that were entirely missing from the bridge. This was so tedious, why the village didn't just hire construction workers was beyond him instead he was here wasting his leisure time doing physical labor. :"I think my hands are getting calluses" he said looking at both palms before reaching down to grab a few boards to take with him to a section where some were missing. As he was nailing them in place he could smell the moisture picking up in the air, this groggy foggy day was about to turn rainy as well which would just kill his vibe, and not to mention ruin his clothing. In his haste to quicken his pace and beat the rain he missed one of the screws completely and nailed his thumb with the framing hammer "Son of a..." catching himself he put his thumb in his mouth to pseudo stop the pain for a moment.

Continuing his work he had the bridge looking quasi brand new save for a few areas had had just put duct tape over, but as far as he was concerned duct tape was the only solution to lifes problems. If a cigarette couldn't fix it then duct tape could, popping a smoke in his mouth and lighting it he headed back to tell his leader he was done and how much of a pain it was.
