One Extra [Mission]
Wed Mar 05, 2014 1:55 pm
Oh what the hell. Yume’s arms crossed over her chest, her facial expression blank, but her mind bubbled in mild annoyance. THIS is what they called her to do? Dropping her arms to her side, she side stepped the scattered blades on the floor. Didn’t they have their own clerks for this absurdity? What possible reason or advantage would they have in paying extra money to a genin sorting and cataloguing?
She knelt down in the safer part of the mess. On her hands and knees, Yume carelessly sorted them out by throwing them into piles based on colour, then detailing in size and shape. Who said you needed to know what these weapons called? There’s a pointy thing one and a pointy thing two. This was a truly mindless job, where sections were already carefully labelled so that she did not mistakenly put shuriken with smoke bombs.
It took a while to sort and she mentally cursed the buffoon who was graceless and clumsy enough to shatter a wall of weapon ridden shelves. Did he ever get stabbed in the head by a falling kunai? Yume hoped they did. Eventually, her mind hummed in emptiness as her lips did to a nameless song. Finally having the armoury’s entire inventory properly stored away, the girl rummaged behind the desk and drawers. There should be something here—a book or scroll—that contained all of the numbers of the categorised weapons. Grumbling, she knew she had to count them all too, just to make sure everything was accounted for. Everything seemed perfectly fine so far. The numbers seemed to match up with the book. Then she finished the senbon. She paused, counting again and again, just to make sure that her eyes weren’t deceiving her. There appeared to be an extra one. Where it came from, she wasn’t too sure. But she knew they wouldn’t miss it.
