On the trail

Mizuki came to a stop from her run, watching the footprints that she had been following. The doctor had been rather effective in making his escape, she wasn’t sure how much ground he had gained while she was still on the boat. It was unfortunate, but she would not fail at her next attempt to kill him. She began walking, giving herself a moment to catch her breath and conserve energy, but not wanting to become totally immobile.

Raian came upon the borders, he was still trying to figure out his newly discovered power. So far he knew that he needed human hearts to use the ability. He figured the only way to get one would be to kill someone. Raian decided that he would pick an easy target, as he did not want to struggle with the fight. By chance he noticed a girl, seemingly young, as far as Raian could tell she was alone. He chose her as a target, he ran towards her, planning to attack. He only needed to get her within range to use his threads, once in range, he would attempt to shoot a thread into her face, spearing her through the head and killing her.

Kaigo sat a fair distance away, hidden and well out of eyesight. He watched this girl, who didn't even appear to be in her teens, run. He silently wondered to himself just what it was she was running from, or to. She seemed to have some intent, he would note, as she looked down and studied the footprints left marked. Out of the corner of his eye, Kaigo would see a man, also watching this girl. He wondered what his purpose would be in all this. Almost as soon as he had that thought, the man darted off, running towards the girl. It seemed he wanted to get her in range, possibly for a throwing weapon or some sort of jutsu. Kaigo watched as the man charged the girl, smirking to himself. This would prove to be interesting...

Mizuki saw the man approaching, closing in on her quickly. He was probably a bodyguard, sent by the doctor she was chasing. Why else would he be out here, in the middle of nowhere? In that case, he needed to be dealt with as well. She scooped up a handful of dirt and a rock, throwing up the dirt into the man’s face and sending the rock soon after at the same target. With her distraction set, she would aim a kick at his stomach, before punching him several times in the throat to stop him from attacking her.

Raian was stunned at the fact that this little girl was so quick to notice and use her surroundings to give her the advantage. She threw dirt in his face, blinding him. She then threw a rock at his head, he felt it smash against his skull. She proceeded to kick him in the stomach, the blow landed causing Raian to groan in pain, the girl then attempted a throat punch, Raian rolled out of the way quickly, not wanting to choke. As he stood up, he felt his head, he was bleeding. He didn't think much of it, he'd gotten worse wounds from tripping.

Kaigo reacted as swiftly as he could, transitioning from a sitting position to a running one relatively silently. He would race towards the girl, stooping to grab a rock on the way. He would then attempt to run behind her, swinging his arm around and hitting her in the side of the head with the rock, using his momentum to give additional power to the blow. If the hit landed, it would hopefully knock her off her feet, and make her head spin just a tad, as well as making her vision blurred. However, Kaigo pulled the hit, so as not to kill her. Though he didn't have a conscious, he had always preferred money to blood. After the hit, Kaigo would turn to the other man, and say  "Kill her. I take the money, you get the kill. Understood?"

Mizuki her hits connect with her attacker, feeling a satisfied sense of efficiency as she prepared to finish him off, when she felt a strike collide with her. The next thing she knew, she was on the ground, dazed. What had just happened? She would struggle to get to her feet, attempting to retreat back to get a ley of what was going on. Apparently another had just joined the fray, and he seemed bent on killing her.

Raian was unaware of what was happening around him, he felt that death was nearing. Suddenly, he heard the thud of someone hitting the ground. Still dazed, he looked through blurred eyes at what appeared to be a man standing over the girl, who looked to be on the ground in a fearful state, Raian was unsure. He stood up, looking at the man, not saying a word, only acknowledging the man with a nod of the head. Raian walked to where the girl was laying, he now stood over her. Smirking, Raian shot a thread into her head, killing her quickly, he then shot another into her chest ripping out and taking her heart.

Kaigo watched, satisfied as the girl flew away from the man, and the man stood back up, looking at him and simply nodding him. He hoped the message had gotten through that he was to get the money from this ordeal. At this point, he dropped the rock, and simply backed away, letting the man attempt to kill this poor girl. In all honesty, it was a wrong place wrong time situation, but what should he care? He was getting payed, and that was all that mattered to him. With nothing left to do, Kaigo wondered how much money would be in a twelve year old's pocket.

Mizuki attempted to make the seals for a substitution technique, but those threads were fast... she was too slow. Both threads pierced her body, killing her.
